Seven Deadly Sins System-Chapter 223 : Birth
The scenes inside the paintings continued, and it was only a few minutes later that these strange, newborn creatures were finished having their meal.
After they were done, the creatures' bodies didn't stay there any longer but quickly melted into an eerie liquid that dripped to the ground, which subsequently disappeared.
Watching this scene, the eyes of Wu Feng flashed.
"'Children of the Hive'...", he muttered in a low voice and he couldn't help but think of these creatures' information.
According to the information he had gathered over the years, the 'Mother' was a powerful creature who had control over concepts such as fertility, birth, and life.
Perhaps because of this, the Mother's biggest enjoyment was to impregnate other creatures, forcing them to give birth to her subordinates, the Children of the Hive.
For this to happen, there was no need for sexual intercourse or any contact with the Mother at all.
Just a gaze or even a slight trace of Mother's contamination was enough to impregnate other creatures.
Even he, the Child of Mother had suffered many times before.
Recalling those memories he had subconsciously sealed, Wu Feng's body couldn't help but tremble.
It took him a long time for him to finally calm down and suppress his thoughts.
"According to the terms of the agreement, sacrificing an Awakening Realm cultivator is equivalent to sacrificing ten thousand ordinary people."
"With the death of those three traitors, there are only seventy thousand people remaining.", Wu Feng analyzed and he didn't seem to care about the death of his subordinates.
If anything, Wu Feng was satisfied with their death.
This wasn't strange though, as he had already noticed that these people held murderous intent towards him.
Sacrificing them to the Mother would not only allow him to complete her requirements faster, but it could also help him get rid of these hidden dangers.
"That's it.", Wu Feng whispered, as he casually waved his right hand.
Following his movements, the three paintings that were hanging on the wall moved closer, overlapping with each other until they finally merged into one.
Reaching out, Wu Feng picked up the painting and put it away, before using his thoughts to communicate with the temple.
In response to his call, many runes flashed on the floor, and a teleportation formation that had been hidden all this time was activated.

When Wu Feng opened his eyes again and saw the large garden in front of him, he understood that he had been teleported out.
Taking a look around, he saw that both the temple and the garden around it seemed to be the same as before as if nothing had happened.
However, as an Awakening Realm cultivator, Wu Feng was able to notice something.
Compared to just a few minutes ago, the size of the plants in the garden had increased, while four more plants had appeared.
Looking at these plants and thinking of their powerful effects, Wu Feng couldn't help but feel a little greedy, but he made no move to pick them up.
This was not because he knew that each of these plants represented the death of a cultivator, but because these plants belonged to the Mother, and they were not something he could cover.
Thinking of this, he restrained his greed.
"Only seventy thousand sacrifices are left. It should be easy to find a city to sacrifice around this place.", Wu Feng and he was about to take off the ground when he suddenly realized something.
"No! Why are there four plants? Shouldn't it be three?", he exclaimed, but before he could think any further, he felt a sharp pain in his chest.
Unknowingly, while he wasn't paying attention, a vine had climbed to his back and penetrated the left side of his chest, piercing his heart in the process.
This vine was quite thin and appeared to be very frail, but since it was able to penetrate his defense, it was obviously extraordinary.
Thinking of how there were four new plants in the garden, Wu Feng understood what happened.
"Sneak attack...", he whispered, but the next second, the vitality in his eyes dissipated, and his body fell to the ground.
Following his death, the vine that caused his death crawled back and moved away, before it began squirming.
Soon, the vine's transformation had been completed, revealing the true form of the person who attacked Wu Feng.
A white-haired woman.
However, despite the fact that the woman's sneak attack seemed to have succeeded, she didn't show any joy.
"Get out. I know that you're still alive.", Chu Wuyao spoke calmly, staring at the corpse on the ground with indifferent eyes.
"Puff!"
In response to her words, a tearing sound spread throughout the garden as the abdomen of Wu Feng was torn open.
From the gap, a baby could be seen curled up inside, staring in Chu Wuyao's direction.
Its eyes were full of wisdom and contained maturity beyond its years, and the next moment, it moved.
Raising its leg, it stepped out.
However, something surprising happened.
While its leg was mid-air, the body of the baby began transforming, and by the time its leg had landed on the ground, its appearance had changed into that of a ten-year-old child.
Its changes didn't stop there as the child completed another step, and turned into a young man in his early twenties.
It had only taken half a second for Wu Feng to go from a newborn baby to a fully grown man, and if it were not for the corpse behind him, no one would have guessed that he had just died.
"How did you notice that I'm alive?", Wu Feng looked at Chu Wuyao and asked with curiosity, never expecting that his ability would fail.
Since he became the Mother's Child, he obtained some extremely powerful, yet strange abilities.
Among these abilities, the most strange one was the "Birth", which allowed him to breed a clone of his inside his body.
This clone would remain silent most of the time, but if he were to die, his consciousness would transfer to that clone and achieve the effect of resurrection.
Wu Feng had used this ability many times over the years, either as a way to turn the battle around, or a way to fake death and escape the chase of his enemies.
Yet, so far, he had not met a single person who could notice the traces of this ability.
Unfortunately for Wu Feng, Chu Wuyao didn't answer his question.
Instead, she quietly looked at Wu Feng, her eyes flashing with curiosity.
She had already noticed Wu Feng's peculiarity long ago, and it was one of the reasons why she didn't step into the temple but chose to stay outside and wait for a suitable opportunity to kill him.
Judging from how Wu Feng had come out alone and his followers were nowhere to be seen, Chu Wuyao understood that her previous guess was correct and that Wu Feng was indeed not as simple as he seemed to be.
