Chapter 224: Chapter 224

- KILLIAN -

I raise my hand up then bend it so it touches the opposite shoulder. After this, I let my other hand rest on the elbow or my stretched hand and yawn, stretching my body out while standing in the office this whole thing began, the hunt for power and the acquiring of power. I’m at the Iva, reclaiming my original duty of ruling what we know as my father’s empire which my great grandfather, known as the original Godfather, built.

The history behind the Iva is quite an intriguing one, someday, I’ll tell it to someone I love and use it as a mythical story for my kids, but it’ll only be so because someday, I’ll be out of this entanglement. Someday I definitely look forward to.

I hear the sound of shoe soles hit the ground. From the sound each foot makes as it knocks the ground, I can tell these soles belong to male shoes. Expensive male shoes.

With each step forward, the steps get louder. A half grin forms on my face as my nose catches on a scent. A very pleasant and familiar one.

“Showing up unannounced on me when you just pulled the stunt you did is quite bold, don’t you think, brother?” I say, doing the same pose while stretching in the opposite direction.

“My only aim is to rule side by side you, Killian.” Liam’s voice cooes, echoing slightly through the walls. The sound of his voice bouncing off these walls into my ears pleases me. In a weird way, I have missed this.

I turn around, facing the man who was standing behind me but now before me. The grin on my face remains. Liam stretches both his arms to the side, a thrilled smirk on his face. “Welcome back, boss.” He says charismatically.

I take gentle steps forward till my body stands in front of his. This is when I fall onto his shoulder, closing the hug he proposed in the first place. I clap my palm on his back as they rest on it. Liam does the same. “It’s good to be back.” I mutter to him.

“It is good to have you back.” Liam says. We break our hug. “Now I can finally go back to frolicking with my favourite breed in the world.” I am tempted to smack him on the shoulder.

“Women. They’re called women and are people too.”

Liam cocks his head to the side, lips spreading wide to utter the words. “Po-ta-to, po-tah-to.” I roll my eyes. For what it’s worth, I know he cherishes women. Liam loved women for a reason I totally understand but why he always has a lot with him is something I’d never fully grasp the concept of. We’re different in that aspect and it makes me wonder which family member’s genes he got. Which one of us was as promiscuous as he is?

I make my way to the Iva throne, the seat of all seats. A chuckle slid out my mouth, it’s funny how you never imagine you missed a place as much as you did till you actually get there, little things like these then seem pleasant. Home is a million times better than that school. Good riddance.

“Before I make myself comfortable, please tell me if there is any furniture I’d have to replace?” In other words, I do not trust him enough to just touch anything but I do know he isn’t stupid to let anyone in here. “Any tainted furniture.” My emphasis is on the middle word.

Liam catches on the word immediately and cocks his head slightly to the side. “Sit and find out.”

I raise a brow. The chuckle that resounds in the room is somewhat funny. “You’re safe, Killian. No sexual liquid in this place.”

Good. Very good. Although he could’ve used a different word for it.

I sit down, enjoying the comfort of the seat.

“Liam, I want you to host a ball. A masked ball. Invite the most influential allies and friends to that ball. Invitation only and yes, make it so certain people can have a plus one tag along, mainly family. I’ll give you a date for this to be arranged but in the meantime, let’s begin by arranging a blind meeting between I and father and mother’s killer.”

If there’s one thing I love doing the most, it’s instilling fear in the hearts of people who deserve it. Leaving their bodies crawl with goosebumps and souls in fear of when I’ll strike next.

The knowledge that I’ll be on their tail alone is enough to cause misguided steps based on fear. But that never ends well. After all, fear is the root of all ill managed affairs.

I went through some files which reminded me of why I joined that school in the first place. The killer does indeed have a family. I got carried away and never found the offspring but that won’t matter once I’m done with her.

She’ll be the perfect object to lure each and every one of them out. Revenge would never be sweeter. So sweet that it has my toes curling in anticipation.

Liam groans. “Just when I thought you being here takes responsibility off my back for a long moment.”

I smirk at his remark. For most parts, that’s true, it does, but I still need my right hand, the one who’s not my consigliere.

“If I have this meeting booked appropriately, you just might.” I say to him. A knife swings around his fingers, spinning quickly yet slower than usual in a stylised circular motion. Liam throws it up then catches it by the blade. I don’t witness any cuts on his palm though.

This makes me sigh with relief.

“Then consider this done. Both tasks.” Reverberates in the room. Rescinding footsteps replay in my ears as he makes his way out. “You’ll know when it’s been booked.” Trails in the air behind him.

When his presence is gone, I stare straight into the air at nothing. Tension visits my brows for some reason and I glance seriously at nothing in particular.

Soon, it’ll be long time no see between me and her. And her tragic ending will be the icing to my cake.
