Shadow and Light: The Bride Who Clicks Her Way to Love-Chapter 379 - 392: Snatching the Child
Lu Shifeng saw her eyes cold as ice shards the moment he got out of the car.
After everything that had happened, he might not be emotionally intelligent, but he still remembered that Su Xingyu disliked Zhuang Heng, very much disliked her.
He walked over in a few strides and explained to Su Xingyu, "Zhuang Heng will leave after dropping off Jue."
Su Xingyu hadn’t shown any reaction yet, but Zhuang Heng’s heart was already sour and bitter. Indeed, she was using the excuse of Jue not being accustomed to the new environment to follow along today, otherwise, Lu Shifeng would have never allowed her to come.
However, in front of Su Xingyu, his intent to distance himself from her was too obvious.
This made her clearly feel that her status in Lu Shifeng’s heart was different compared to Su Xingyu.
Su Xingyu was much more important to him than she was.
Her heart was in a panic, and the confidence she had built over the years from being called "Mrs. Lu" unknowingly disappeared without a trace. In desperation, she cunningly glanced at the frail Jue who Mrs. Gui was holding beside her and said, "Shifeng, are you really willing to let us mother and son be separated? Jue is fragile and can’t be without his mother. Please let me take him back or allow me to stay and take care of him..."
Upon hearing her speak like this, Su Xingyu’s expression turned cold: "Only Jue can stay."
She wanted Jue to be a companion for Han, and for some reason, she always felt an inexplicable affection for the child. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
But what is the point of leaving Zhuang Heng here? Adding trouble is one thing, but if Zhuang Heng does poison her or Han, then it would be a cry for help in vain. She won’t be so foolish as to put herself and Han in such a dangerous situation.
Zhuang Heng’s eyes reddened as she looked at Lu Shifeng pleadingly, "Shifeng, you know Su Xingyu has always been prejudiced against me, so how could she treat my child well? Shifeng, I’m begging you, let me take Jue back." It wasn’t that she really liked Jue, but he was such a good bridge that sustained her relationship with Lu Shifeng.
Even though Lu Shifeng was indifferent to her, he often went in and out with her for Jue’s sake over the years. But what if there’s no Jue? Zhuang Heng dared not imagine what excuse she would have to coexist with him daily.
Yet Lu Shifeng said, "These years, Jue hasn’t been close to you. Mrs. Gui has been taking care of his daily life. You can just visit him occasionally; the child isn’t as dependent on you as you might imagine."
Zhuang Heng’s face turned pale.
Lu Shifeng’s words might have been harsh, but they were true.
Jue, after all, wasn’t her biological child, and afflicted with autism, he wasn’t cute at all. How could Zhuang Heng get close to him? She remembered trying to hold or tease him, but each time Jue screamed and pushed her away, even becoming hysterical whenever she touched his little body.
The doctor said autistic children dislike external interference.
But she felt offended by the child and wished to have a biological son with Lu Shifeng one day and then find a way to let Jue die. That way, her son could rightfully become the Lu Family’s eldest son.
But these years, Lu Shifeng hadn’t even touched her.
She dared not completely sever this connecting link with Jue, and thus dared not secretly harm him.
Jue grew up day by day, always silently immersed in his world, and even when she stood in front of him, he often showed no response whatsoever.
Lu Shifeng said he didn’t need her, and he was right.
In her heart, Zhuang Heng viciously cursed the child as a little cripple, a little idiot!
But outwardly, she pretended to be heartbroken and said, "Shifeng, precisely because he is sick does he not get close to me, and for that reason, I should accompany him even more, right? Su Xingyu holds such great prejudice against me; who knows if she might secretly vent it on Jue? Jue is such a special child. Even if he is bullied, not given food, slapped a few times, he wouldn’t complain! Shifeng, what if Su Xingyu hits him?"
Seeing her made Su Xingyu uncomfortable, and hearing her slander made her even angrier.
She sneered at Zhuang Heng and said, "Oh? So since you’re saying it so naturally, have you hit Jue before, starved him without giving food? Zhuang Heng, I saw Jue bite you outside the operating room that day; if you hadn’t mistreated him, why would he bite you?"
Initially, Su Xingyu was speaking offhandedly.
But Zhuang Heng’s face changed subtly, because she had indeed secretly beaten and mistreated Jue behind Lu Shifeng’s back!
Although she was unwilling to raise Jue to death so quickly, the child was absolutely enraging, refusing to let her touch him or listen to her, often capturing Lu Shifeng’s attention so that he was with him and not her. Hence, when she was really vexed, she would hit him.
But such matters must never be revealed!
Heartbroken, Zhuang Heng looked at Lu Shifeng, "Shifeng, listen to what she’s saying! I’m Jue’s biological mother; could a biological mother beat her child? I can’t even imagine, it’s too frightening! Would Su Xingyu normally beat Han? And would she also beat Jue? Jue is not the same as other children; how could he possibly withstand it..."
Her voice was passionate and sorrowful.
Su Xingyu watched her performance coldly, indeed, Han had been beaten before. Boys needed some discipline to become sensible.
However, that was because Han was healthy and didn’t hold grudges. With Jue, she couldn’t bear to hit him.
Seeing Zhuang Heng still sing and deliver her lines perfectly, Su Xingyu impatiently turned to Lu Shifeng, "So noisy, make her leave."
Lu Shifeng knew her patience had reached its limit, so he said to Zhuang Heng, "Let the driver take you back."
"Shifeng!" Seeing that her earlier words hadn’t worked, Zhuang Heng was unwilling to leave like this. In a panic, she ran over to Mrs. Gui and grabbed Jue’s hand, "Please don’t take the child away from me!"
"Ah ah ah ah—!" Jue, initially with his head down quietly doing something, suddenly started screaming when she coldly grabbed him.
"Jue? Jue, I’m sorry, mommy didn’t mean to." Zhuang Heng simply crouched down and, ignoring his screams, hugged him tightly while crying, "Forgive mommy, she can’t let you be handed over to that bad woman; she will hurt you!"
"Ah ah ah ah—!" Jue shouted even louder, struggling harder.
He already had a weak heart, and this excitement made his face turn blue. Su Xingyu was alarmed seeing the child’s face change and quickly said to Zhuang Heng, "Let go of him! He’s suffocating!"
But Zhuang Heng wouldn’t listen, continuing to say Su Xingyu was a bad woman who would harm her child.
Jue became increasingly disturbed, and his complexion worsened. Su Xingyu, seeing the child’s painful appearance, felt as if her heart was being stabbed. Without thinking twice, she rushed forward and forcefully pried Zhuang Heng’s hands away to separate Zhuang Heng from the child.
