Shadow and Light: The Bride Who Clicks Her Way to Love-Chapter 387 - 400: Return to Photography
She walked up to Jue, draped a blanket over him, and used the hot water bottle in her hand to warm his icy little hands.
Jue’s little hands were tightly pressed against Han’s face. Su Xingyu was afraid to pull them apart forcefully, so she used the hot water bottle to warm the back of Jue’s hands. As she warmed them, she glared at Lu Shifeng, "Aren’t you going to help?"
Lu Shifeng finally reacted, glanced at the melted snow marks on the floor, and reached out to press the air conditioner’s remote control.
In an instant, the room’s temperature rose to a comfortable 25 degrees, gradually stabilizing.
The warmth reached Jue in the room, and little by little, he released Han’s cheeks.
Su Xingyu finally breathed a sigh of relief, busy separating the two children and carefully checking their bodies for any abnormalities.
Jue quietly let her inspect him, no longer displaying the hysteria from just moments ago.
Lu Shifeng looked at the two, big and small, with surprise, wondering if he guessed it right. Jue really was afraid of the cold and preferred warm things, which inadvertently led to bothering Han?
Seeing Jue’s originally pale face gradually gain a hint of color, Lu Shifeng felt relieved and moved by Su Xingyu’s careful care of the child. Autistic children find it hard to express their comfort level, but Su Xingyu noticed it and attended to his needs well.
Compared to Zhuang Heng, she is the real qualified mother.
In contrast, Zhuang Heng not only failed to help just now but also interfered with Su Xingyu, almost delaying the care of the child. If the child were left to Zhuang Heng, who knows how long he would cry for?
Reflecting on this, Lu Shifeng noted something he had never noticed this clearly before: over the years, it seemed Zhuang Heng had never succeeded in comforting the child. Every time Jue cried endlessly, that woman was at a loss.
Meanwhile, Zhuang Heng was still putting on a facade as a good mother, shielding a now quiet Jue beside her, looking at Su Xingyu with hostility, "Don’t touch my child."
Su Xingyu was so angry she almost laughed, "If you won’t let me touch him, then you take care of him!"
Zhuang Heng said coldly, "I don’t need you dictating how I care for the child."
"Enough." Lu Shifeng’s voice.
Zhuang Heng was somewhat afraid of him and obediently shut her mouth.
Su Xingyu was angrier, "If you’re not helping, at least don’t make it worse. Please take that Zhuang Heng and get as far away as possible. Don’t come bothering the kids again."
No one had ever dared speak to Lu Shifeng this way.
Zhuang Heng felt a secret joy, thinking Su Xingyu offended him and would pay for it.
But the next moment, her expression changed as Lu Shifeng explained gently to Su Xingyu, "Xingyu, today Zhuang Heng spontaneously wanted to see the children, so I brought her without notifying you. If you don’t like it, next time I won’t bring her here." 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Zhuang Heng hadn’t expected things to turn out this way. It was clearly the children’s squabble, not her fault. How did it become her being barred from seeing the children?
"Shifeng!" she called, her voice trembling.
Lu Shifeng showed no mercy, "Zhuang Heng, if you can’t pacify the child, don’t come distracting Xingyu from taking care of them."
"But Jue is my son!" she shouted indignantly.
Lu Shifeng ignored her, calling Mrs. Gui to see her out.
Su Xingyu coldly watched on, knowing Zhuang Heng was sent away with grudges on her face, and only then did her expression soften slightly.
She called someone to clean up the pool of melted snow on the floor, then fed the two children some hot ginger tea, never giving Lu Shifeng a single direct look from start to finish.
Lu Shifeng didn’t say anything either, quietly watching her from the side.
Su Xingyu took care of the children, walking past Lu Shifeng without acknowledging him.
Lu Shifeng silently followed her.
After walking a bit, Su Xingyu turned her head and glared at him, "Why are you following me?"
Lu Shifeng said, "Thank you for taking such good care of Jue."
Su Xingyu paused, surprised he would say such a thing, and looked up at him. In the dim evening light, his features were as strikingly handsome as a snow-carved sculpture, gazing down at her in a way that was heart-stirring.
She looked away uneasily.
"Why are you saying this?" she said, "I didn’t take care of him for your sake."
Lu Shifeng said, "Regardless, you’ve helped me a lot."
Not knowing how to respond, her previously aggressive stance unconsciously faded, and she merely snorted coldly.
He said, "Things outside are mostly settled. Ouyang Yi’s forces have left China, so if you want to go out to work now, it would be safe."
She was somewhat surprised, raising her head to look at him, "If I go out to work, what will happen with the two children?"
"Mrs. Gui and the others will be there."
"What if Zhuang Heng comes again to trouble Jue?" she asked further.
He replied, "I will instruct the servants not to let Zhuang Heng in the future."
Only then did she relax a bit, yet still found it somewhat absurd. Initially, she was eager to go out and work, but he wanted her to stay at home to raise the children. Now everything seemed reversed.
She asked him, "You want me to go out and work?"
His narrowed, sharp eyes were filled with a deep glow, his voice hoarse, "I don’t want you to, but I’ll respect your choice. Xingyu, I want you to know that you can do whatever you want here."
Though he was headstrong, over these years, he had come to ponder deeply; rather than losing her, it was better to give her everything she wanted, as long as she could stay by his side, no matter the cost.
She gently bowed her head, worried about the two children but indeed needing to attend to her work as well. After pondering, she said, "Alright, you must promise that you will not let Zhuang Heng come over anyway."
He also said, "Okay."
So, within a few days, she returned to the photography studio, going to complete the work she hadn’t finished over at Cang Er.
She still went with a mask, although recent news about her, Lu Shifeng, and Ouyang Yi had been rather wild. Wearing a mask now became attention-grabbing, with many models and staff being curious about her true face under the mask, wondering if she was really Lu Shifeng’s long-deceased wife, Su Xingyu.
Rumored in the Lu Family, the deceased young lady also had excellent photography skills. Unconsciously, people began to compare her past works with the current work of Axing.
Su Xingyu didn’t know how long she could hide her true identity, but since Lu Shifeng already knew, concealing it from others didn’t really matter. The main reason for her wearing a mask was still to hide the burn marks on her face.
So she continued to let people speculate.
Today was for an outdoor shoot.
Su Xingyu had brought equipment to the shooting location early, but the crew then told her bad news with a gloomy expression, "Miss Axing, the site is already being used."
