Shadow and Light: The Bride Who Clicks Her Way to Love-Chapter 445 - 458: Han Refuses
She wanted to leave this chaos as soon as possible, so she nodded.
Lu Shifeng held her hand, his long fingers interlaced with hers, brushing past Zhuang Heng as he led her out of the crowd.
As they passed, a subtle commotion arose among the crowd, but no one stopped them, nor did anyone pose any further questions. Clearly, it was apparent to anyone observing—between the two women, Lu Shifeng was evidently favoring Su Xingyu, leaving no doubt that Zhuang Heng had fallen out of favor.
This divorce wasn’t without reason.
The crowd held varied thoughts, with many eyes fixed on the departing perfect couple, who looked truly pleasing together; the more you looked, the more they seemed a perfect match.
Some were looking at Zhuang Heng, the once prestigious daughter and socialite of a wealthy family, defeated by a nobody. Her family’s downfall aside, she ended up divorced, truly a case of trying to steal a chicken only to lose the rice used to lure it—the cost was too great. "I think Zhuang Heng and Lu Shifeng’s astrology signs just don’t match," someone in the crowd said.
"I agree," said another, "Forcing a mismatch will only lead to more misfortune."
"Her family collapsed, her son is ill, she’s divorced—tsk, tsk, too tragic."
Seeing the increasing chatter in the crowd, even Zhuang Heng’s thick skin couldn’t bear it, and she clenched her fists secretly.
No...
She absolutely wouldn’t admit that her and Lu Shifeng’s astrology signs didn’t match!
Su Xingyu, it was all because of Su Xingyu’s sabotage that she and Shifeng ended up like this!
Su Xingyu was a bitch!
Fueled by jealousy and anger, Zhuang Heng’s face twisted somewhat, which was quickly caught by sharp-eyed reporters who pressed their cameras furiously.
Zhuang Heng was suddenly startled, realizing that staying here would lead to nothing good, so she hurriedly split the crowd, leaving swiftly—almost as if fleeing in panic.
The next day, the media indeed reported Zhuang Heng’s "panicked escape," while using other affectionate titles for Su Xingyu and Lu Shifeng.
Su Xingyu didn’t work today; she was at home watching the news, taking care of the children.
She idly flipped through the newspaper, while Han imitated her flipping through pages. Being too young, he couldn’t recognize all the characters, yet when she turned to the entertainment section, he curiously turned to the financial section, muttering things like "futures, leverage, central bank easing..."
Suddenly, Han looked up and asked her: "Mom, mom, is this Mr. Lu’s picture? Wow, Mr. Lu looks so handsome; what does the news mean by saying Mr. Lu will marry mom?"
Su Xingyu’s heart skipped irregularly, so she also looked at the newspaper in Han’s hand. It was reporting yesterday’s events in the daily financial personality column, and also noted that Lu Shifeng once vowed to reporters that he would marry Su Xingyu after divorcing Zhuang Heng. His picture indeed looked handsome, making her somewhat disoriented.
Now that Zhuang Heng’s matter was resolved, it was time for her and him. But was she really going to get back together with him?
She lowered her head slightly, looking at Han, who was innocently looking up at her.
She asked Han: "Do you want mom to marry Mr. Lu?" In fact, they had never really divorced; the so-called marriage would just be for appearance’s sake.
Her heart was somewhat chaotic; before that stormy night, her answer would’ve been a firm no, but something seemed to have shaken her after that night. She didn’t know how to answer her son’s question, so she simply listened to his thoughts.
The little guy tilted his head and thought for a moment: "Mr. Lu is very fierce."
"Hmm."
"He’s Jue’s dad."
"Hmm."
"If mom marries him, does that mean Han and brother Jue can become real brothers?" The little guy’s mind was imaginative.
Su Xingyu couldn’t help but laugh: "You already are brothers with brother Jue; you’re his god brother. That great-grandfather of the Lu Family said, he would officially announce you as the second young master of the Lu Family in the future. That has nothing to do with whether mom will be with Mr. Lu."
"Then..." Han thought, since it wouldn’t affect him being with brother Jue, Mr. Lu didn’t seem to have any benefits for him.
"Then mom shouldn’t marry him," Han clapped his hands, making a decision. "I like mom; I don’t like others competing for mom, except brother Jue."
Su Xingyu chuckled lightly, suddenly feeling a cold breeze from the doorway.
Upon looking up, she saw Lu Shifeng had returned from work at some unknown time, now staring at the little fellow lying on the carpet by her feet with a murderous look in his eyes.
Su Xingyu instantly became tense, instinctively protecting the little fellow closer to her. Had he heard all the things they had just said? Would he become unfriendly towards Han because of it, or even do harm to him? She was extremely anxious, her gaze towards him was filled with vigilance and warning as she called: "Lu Shifeng!"
Lu Shifeng snapped back, slowly retracting his tangible aura of murderous hostility.
Han was greatly frightened by him, hiding in his mother’s arms, trembling, but as soon as the aura was withdrawn, Han immediately became lively again, softly exclaiming: "Mr. Lu is so fierce. Just now, he seemed fiercer than usual, and even more intimidating; no matter how hard Han tries to glare, it’s never that scary."
...This child!
Su Xingyu was almost driven crazy; wasn’t he inviting enough trouble from Lu Shifeng already?
"Don’t cause trouble," she coldly warned Lu Shifeng. "What are you doing competing with a kid?"
Lu Shifeng looked deeply at Han, inwardly settling this account for later. But in front of Su Xingyu, he abandoned the idea of reckoning with him, instead walking over and saying: "Children’s matters are their own; our matters are our own. Whether you want to marry me doesn’t require the children’s opinions. Xingyu, I’ll arrange the grandest wedding for you."
Su Xingyu paused quietly before saying: "I don’t need it."
He didn’t ask what she needed; she probably needed separation from him.
He glared again at the little fellow who had been a hindrance; the boy had already returned to the carpet, muttering while reading the financial newspaper, completely ignoring his resentment-filled glare.
Turning back to Su Xingyu, he said: "If you’re not ready now, the wedding doesn’t have to be hurried. Anyway, we’re living together as a family of four now; you can’t escape, can’t move away. I have plenty of time to rekindle our relationship. I’ll spread rumors outside, making everyone regard our union as a certainty. Over time, even if she doesn’t want to admit it, she’ll become universally acknowledged as the Lu Family’s young lady again."
He calculated inwardly, then said to her: "In one week, there’s an event at Front Edge, and I want to invite you."
