Shattering Humanity-Chapter 448: The DæMon Threatening Power Of A ScourgingSeiõrSphere
’The heavens declare the glory of God, and the expanse proclaims the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour out speech;
night after night they communicate knowledge.
There is no speech; there are no words; their voice is not heard.
Their message has gone out to the whole earth, and their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun.
It is like a bridegroom coming from his home; it rejoices like an athlete running a course.
It rises from one end of the heavens and circles to their other end; nothing is hidden from its heat.
The instruction of the Lord is perfect,
renewing one’s life; the testimony of the Lord is trustworthy, making the inexperienced wise.
The precepts of the Lord are right,
making the heart glad; the command of the Lord is radiant, making the eyes light up. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are reliable and altogether righteous.
They are more desirable than gold— than an abundance of pure gold; and sweeter than honey dripping from a honeycomb.’ -Psalms 19:1-10
____________
Back in the present time, with perfect synchrony, Shelly bends her knees and positions her feet. Around her, the pink/gold SanguineSoulSeiõrShield surrounding her grows brighter and stronger than the Mach 2 form, which can only mean one thing...
[Shelly’s SanguineSoulSeiõrShield System: Mach 3!!]
After closing her eyes to collect herself, Shelly reopens them in a competitive, locked in glare of confidence.
Over 1,000ft (~304m) off the ground and immediately sensing the new level to Shelly’s power, the bumptious Jesse James stops the tornado birthing, and turning her body 180° to face the incoming threat with an excited, wide smile.
Shelly: "Okay!
I’m ready, Madame!"
After hearing the barked order, Madame Fryer rotates once before she helps fling both her rider, along with a wall of friendly flames directly towards Jesse James. When accompanied by her ally’s wave of fire, the display stunningly looks like blazing wings on the back of the faster than jet speed ascending Valkyrie.
With the assisted slingshooting from her sword, the golden pink meteor travelling at an upward angle, screams through the air at well over 2,300mph (~3700kmph) towards her now descending target.
The "flame winged" Valkyrie stares down her target with a fierce scowl, and the consciously controlled cowgirl continues cackling back.
Still spinning her metal staff like a deadly overpowered fan, the grinning Sheriff is being pushed downward by the force of her newborn tornado. While Mach 3 Shelly, almost immediately off her launch closes the distance, flying in with her majestically upgraded fastball special.
From below, the slowly air bobbing Madame Fryer watches the two magically matched meteors mesh right into each other.
[Otis Air Base, Vinland]
Inside the control room to the Sheriff’s base of operations, both the male and female workers in the multifunctional office area are doing their own tasks in silence...until the red alarm above a seismograph starts flashing, with a low humming calling for their attention.
Using her roller chair to stay seated while she moves to the cause of emergency, the female controller begins reading the scans on the small display screen.
Male Controller: "Is it an earthquake?"
As if trying to take in so much data all at once, the woman takes a moment to answer.
Female Controller: "I’m receiving three separate readings from different Ocean Bottom Seismographs between here and South of us."
The man rushes over to read the information on screen that his colleague is describing.
Male Controller: "Well I would say the Sheriff could possibly contain this much power, but she is supposed to be fighting on Kami Island.
So why are the magnitude readings higher near Nantucket?!"
The two look terrified at one another, unsure of what to make of their alarming data.
The sweating female begins to calculate in her head what theoretically could be happening and she wipes her brow after coming up with a conclusion.
Female Controller: "Well, one theory could be an underwater natural disaster with not connection to what is going on over there, or..."
Male Controller: "...Or something with the explosive force of 100,000 kilotons just struck Nantucket, causing a magnetude 10 earthquake and turning the island into either a barren wasteland or a crater filled by the Atlantic Ocean."
Both Communications Controllers also get the identical realization at the exact same moment, which is the result after either theory most likely means...
Both Controllers: "Tsunami!"
They both run out the door in desperation.
[Fort Tabor, New Bedford]
Outside SeiõrSnow continues to fall on the shores of mainland Vinland.
From the public walkway/hurricane barrier, built around the 19th century military fort ruins, families who either haven’t left after watching the military fleet leave their shores, or new groups of families, have shown up for some late afternoon bonding time. Following close behind are the assigned indentured servants carrying the chairs, coolers, or towels for the citizens who have already gone through their mandatory servitude.
As if not having moved since they watched the warships sail off earlier that day, the two blue collar men are still relaxing, still drinking beer, and awaiting for their heroes to return from battle.
After finishing his current can, the man with the mechanics uniform, pinned with the name tag ’Dale’, tosses his empty container in a now full plastic bag between them, attached to the cooler.
His old buddy Leo, who is also Vegetius’ father, burps and scratches his beer belly.
He double checks inside the big red portable cooler and sucks his teeth in disappointment.
Leo: "Welp, we’re outta juice. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
I guess it’s time to get back home to the ball and chain."
However, before either middle aged man can get up from his lawn chair, over the ocean horizon in the Southeast direction, the top half to a bright sphere, almost mimicking the late afternoon sun above it, gains their attention.
Around the half drunk men, the conspicuous object in the far out sky also catches the eye of everyone else in attendance.
The saved people of Vinland stop everything they are doing, and stare with confusion at the distant anomaly. They watch as the half exposed orb gets increasingly brighter and larger.
Leo: "Dale...d-do you see that, or did I have one too many?"
As if highly knowledgeable in military weaponry, the mechanic tries to swallow his spit, but it has instantaneously dried out in fear.
Dale: "Leo, that’s the same direction towards Kami Island...you don’t suppose that’s a-..."
The unidentifiable light slowly dims away under the ocean horizon, and there is a feeling of uneasiness from everyone who had witnessed the strange phenomenon before the first of concerned parents take their child’s hand and begins to walking away from the shores.
Leo: "No, that was too close to the horizon for only 50 miles away.
That had to be on Nantucket."
Dale: "But why would Nantucket get hit with a nu-"
Cutting him off, to the shock of everyone present, from the exact spot of the half orb, appears the top of an orange mushroom cloud slowly rising, growing wider and darker.
The adults who know exactly what the cloud represents run away from the shores. The parents with children pick them up and evacuate the fort to get as far away from the cloud they believe is only possible to create with a nuclear bomb.
Both tipsy men jump up from their mesh beach seating, knocking the chairs over.
Leo: "...Vegetius..."
His drinking buddy quickly folds his seat and warns Leo of danger.
Dale: "Hey, we should probably move from the water edge, Leo.
If that explosion was what I think it is, we need to get as far away as poss-."
Cutting him off is an abnormal "warm breeze" feeling like opening an oven for a moment.
Not soon after, an echoing, thunderous *BOOM!* comes from the South.
Dale: "We have to get to high ground..."
