Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Framed

Bai Sheng’er looked at her in silence for two seconds, and something occurred to her. She took two steps back and suddenly raised her voice, “President Pei means, he hopes you can resolve this crisis in your own way, without using the company team, and do it quickly using a direct and forceful approach, rather than so-called ‘clarifications’ using someone else’s scant words.”

“People’s verbal confirmations are far less effective than Director Shen’s direct and forceful public relations.”

Having said that, Bai Sheng’er gave a meaningful look at the studio staff and then turned around and left.

Shen Heyu frowned.

Seeing the look in Bai Sheng’er’s eyes, the nearby staff all speculated a bit, knowing that her words deliberately carried a threatening tone.

If they dared to help clarify verbally, who knew how President Pei would blame them?

...

The director spoke up first, “Apologies, Director Shen, but we believe that what is captured in the video is the truth, and I’m afraid we can’t be of much help to you.”

It seemed that Shen Heyu had anticipated this, as she showed little surprise on her face, gave a slight nod, and left the studio.

Shen Heyu contacted a powerful public relations team and stayed busy with this PR event in the office, not even going home at night.

She also assumed that Pei Yansi would do the same, not going home. If he wasn’t at Bai Sheng’er’s side, then he would be in a big star’s hotel room.

She didn’t inform anyone and kept busy until the early hours, finally falling asleep on the office couch.

Pei Yansi returned home very late and saw that their bedroom was empty and silent, to the point where only his breathing could be heard. He stood by the door, took out his phone, and saw that he hadn’t received any message from her.

His gaze slightly darkened, the neon lights outside casting a somber and icy glow on his handsome face.

The next day, Shen Heyu woke up early, took some disposable toiletries from the pantry, which the company had prepared for every employee working overtime.

After cleaning up, she bought some breakfast and returned to the office, only to see that various black and white obituaries of Bai Sheng’er had begun circulating on the mobile internet.

And the stock market was falling because of this incident.

Many capital investors seized the opportunity to speculate, attempting to strike at the company, naturally interfering from within.

Shen Heyu put down her phone, feeling somewhat exhausted, as no one was willing to come forward and clarify. The video seemed to be all the evidence, and apart from buying an internet army to suppress the news, public relations couldn’t make any moves to turn the situation around.

As time slowly reached office hours and Shen Heyu was still at a loss, the office door was suddenly pushed open with great force from the outside.

With a loud bang, Shen Heyu was caught off guard and startled, trembling slightly in her office chair.

She looked up to see Pei Yansi standing at the doorway, with Bai Sheng’er beside him, who, as usual, had eyes red and swollen from crying, her pale face looking extremely fragile.

Pei Yansi strode in, tossed his phone onto Shen Heyu’s desk, and said in a deep voice, “Look at the mess you’ve made.”

Shen Heyu looked down and saw that it was Bai Sheng’er’s phone, showing a video.

Many crowded people besieged Bai Sheng’er. Some even carried wreaths, shouting for Bai Sheng’er to go to hell.

Surrounded in the middle, Bai Sheng’er had no strength to resist, being pushed around by the people, and even someone raised their hand and slapped her.

At the end of the video, about ten black-clad bodyguards appeared to save the day, rescuing Bai Sheng’er from the scene.

Shen Heyu did not understand, “I don’t understand what President Pei means.”

Pei Yansi narrowed his eyes slightly, his gaze coldly fixed on her, his tone extremely grave, “The video is there, and the evidence is there too. Do you still deny it? Shen Heyu, I’m giving you only one chance, tell the truth.”

Shen Heyu frowned even more deeply and looked at Bai Sheng’er, who was still crying incessantly behind him.

After a bout of delicate sobs, she finally trembled, “These people said, it was Director Shen who sent them, she provided them with my latest address…”

Upon hearing this, Shen Heyu finally understood the intent.

This was the beginning of the framing.

She chuckled, yet her eyes remained chillingly cold, as she stared steadily at Bai Sheng’er, “How would I know your latest address, and who in the company would know it? No one but President Pei.”

When she uttered the last sentence, she lifted her eyes to Pei Yansi, her apathetic provocation undisguised, even containing a touch of sarcasm.

“President Pei’s so-called latest address, was it personally arranging a new residence for Bai Sheng’er? Did he gift her a set of keys to a flat, or took her to a hotel? From the video, it seems he got her a new house.”

Shen Heyu guessed that since the incident, after Bai Sheng’er’s information was widely publicized, Pei Yansi, worried for her safety, directly bought a flat for her to move into.

That flat was in a high-value neighborhood with excellent security, which Shen Heyu had once checked out when she thought about moving out and separating from Pei Yan, but Pei Yan did not agree, and she couldn’t move out.

The sarcasm in her words was evident, and of course, Pei Yansi could hear it.

He furrowed his brows, his anger growing, and just as he was about to say something, Shen Heyu continued, “President Pei, you must be more aware than anyone how good the security in that complex is. How could so many people enter without the guards noticing?”

Pei Yansi paused, his eyes gradually clearing up.

He had been too angry because she had not come home last night without any report, he did not want to ask, nor did he deem it worth asking, but the anger simply stuck in his chest, neither rising nor dissipating.

Seeing the video in the morning had inflamed his fury, leading him to confront her without much thought.

Hearing her words, Bai Sheng’er even forgot to cry, and upon lifting her eyes, saw that Pei Yansi was already picking up his phone to leave.

She didn’t dare say more, quickly turning to follow him closely.

When they reached the door, Pei Yansi stopped and said in a deep voice, “You only have two days.”

After that, he led Bai Sheng’er away.

Shen Heyu’s mood had been ruined from early in the morning, she sighed, pressing her temple tiredly, and first had her assistant issue an apology statement.

Shen Heyu stared at the overwhelming negative comments on the computer, her mind racing with thoughts, the current situation left her only with extreme measures.

Since no one was willing to clarify, she decided to have Meng Ru clarify without her knowledge.

Launching a new game endorsement at this moment would negatively impact the company because Meng Ru was seen as the victim, and replacing her would cause her already disgruntled fans to backlash violently.

But looking at the situation, this seemed to be the only way to possibly compel Meng Ru to come forward on her own.

Thinking this, Shen Heyu immediately contacted her assistant to arrange for a few relatively well-known stars to replace and become the new spokesperson, releasing the news as soon as possible.
