Showbiz Scandal: The Official Announcement of My Ex and Myself-Chapter 297: You’re Indulging Me
The cool, damp cloth brushed against the skin, and Yu Xia let out a "hiss," followed by her low voice directing from inside the tent.
"Don’t just stay in one place all the time."
"Don’t stick so close! It was just getting comfortable, and now you’re making me sweat again."
"Can you be serious? Stop kissing all the time."
"You, you don’t get too excited..."
Xie Qingci simply replied, "I just want to."
Yu Xia was at a loss for words, having no choice but to let him wipe as he pleased.
Finally done with the process of being taken care of, Xie Qingci took her hand again.
It was the injured hand, with a cut at the thumb base and wrist where blood was seeping out.
Logically, one shouldn’t see the wound in the dark, but Xie Qingci accurately found it, holding her hand up to give it a kiss.
Then, a moist sensation came from the thumb base.
She leaned against him with her back, hand pulled backward like a sinner waiting to be judged, bound to a cross.
The one judging her was shamelessly kissing her.
Xie Qingci’s lips pressed against the inside of her wrist, sticking like he was sucking blood.
Yu Xia turned her head slightly and vaguely watched his actions, feeling as though her blood was rushing.
In the dim environment, even a hurried breath might increase the ambiguity.
In the end, not knowing who helped whom, everything blurred in the darkness, and only their movements could be faintly felt outside the tent.
After a pause, Yu Xia was clean while Xie Qingci was drenched in sweat, kneeling there and panting heavily.
She wrapped herself in a blanket, yawning and kicking him with her foot: "Hang my clothes outside."
Xie Qingci replied deeply, running his fingers through his sweaty short hair, bent down, and went out.
Yu Xia quickly drifted off to sleep, the insects’ chirping outside like a lullaby; she was very tired from running all day and found nothing annoying.
Until Xie Qingci came back in, kneeled by her side, and kissed her breathless, and she unwillingly woke up again.
"What are you doing?" she asked irritably.
Xie Qingci slipped his hand into the blanket and whispered, "I washed the clothes and hung them by the fire outside; they’ll dry soon. But I’m afraid the wind might blow them away, so I need to keep watch. Move over when you sleep so I don’t wake you when I come back in."
This meant he had to sleep in the same tent with her tonight.
Groggily, Yu Xia sighed and opened her arms from the blanket: "Hold me, I’ll accompany you."
Xie Qingci smiled, lowered his eyes, and carried her out.
The bonfire rekindled with bright yellow flames, hanging on a makeshift clothesline formed by a few tree branches were all her clothes, and Xie Qingci’s t-shirt, forming a triangle, while Xie Qingci sat holding her on a large stone next to them.
She was wrapped in a blanket, only her shoulders exposed, warmed by the firelight, not feeling cold at all.
Xie Qingci seemed to have endless affection to slowly weave around her, continuously kissing her.
Despite his gentle actions, they were relentless, driving her to almost be drowned in this gentle tide of affection. Even knowing the end result might be being submerged and suffocated silently by the waves, she was reluctant to leave him.
A gust of wind cleared her mind a bit, and she raised her hand to touch his shoulder.
"Aren’t you cold?" she asked, drawing the blanket to wrap around his back, forcing her even closer to him.
Skin touched skin, the warmth quickly transferred, his body as warm as the firelight.
Xie Qingci chuckled softly, his hand slipping back into the blanket.
"You’re spoiling me."
"Even without spoiling, you don’t seem to restrain yourself," she said, pressing her cheek against his chest, listening to the heartbeat inside, her fingers slowly climbing up his neck, "Want to kiss more?"
"Yes."
"Here, kiss here."
"Baby, don’t entice me; it’s not suitable here."
"Xie Qingci."
"Hmm?"
"I like you like this."
"I love you like this."
It’s an all-pervasive longing, an uncontrollable impulse, an unwavering approach, a well-known preference.
They whispered by the bonfire, and this time Yu Xia was truly too sleepy. She fell asleep in Xie Qingci’s embrace, not knowing how she got back inside the tent, let alone how she got dressed.
The next morning, he came to knock with the already flying drone... not knock, the tent.
"Sister, wake up."
Yu Xia covered her ears with the blanket, the blurred figure outside the tent patted it again.
He spoke again: "Sister, I’ve caught fish."
Half a minute later, Yu Xia groggily unzipped the tent and poked her head out.
"Fish? What fish? Big fish or small fish? Enough for how many meals?"
Xie Qingci chuckled: "That you’ll have to see for yourself."
She walked out of the tent; the sun had already risen over the mountains, its rays a bit harsh. The wildflowers she’d picked and put on the vine yesterday had wilted and drooped.
A nearby horizontal branch held a hanging, wrung-out compressed facial towel, looking like a ragged towel from a vintage drama.
Letting out a huge yawn, Yu Xia picked up the facial towel and headed to the river.
Xie Qingci pulled up a fish trap with the vine, and the two of them peeked inside, murmuring.
"There’s shrimp! I see them, still flapping. And the fish?"
"The fish is at the bottom."
"Such a small one?! Probably only two bites after grilling, right?"
"Maybe the fish didn’t like eating bacon buns?"
Though she feigned discontent, Yu Xia was still happy.
"At least it’s something; consider it an extra snack. Grill it and hang it on a branch, nibble when hungry, not bad at all."
Xie Qingci simply nodded in agreement, then went back to start a fire for steaming buns.
He got lucky, eventually picking a bun with meat, and also got three shepherd’s purse dumplings. Under Yu Xia’s affectionate gaze, he ate till half full.
After breakfast, Yu Xia took charge of grilling the fish. Her primary task was to place the well-prepared and skewered fish by Xie Qingci over the fire, occasionally turning it over.
Xie Qingci was responsible for packing the luggage, dismantling the tent, removing tree branches and vines, and putting them in the backpack.
One responsible for the inside, the other for the outside, they complemented each other well.
Before long, Yu Xia’s fish was grilled to perfection, seasoned and flipped over with its charred skin, smelling so good it brought tears to her eyes.
Xie Qingci replaced her fish stick, busy inside and outside, also reminding her: "Hold it up to eat, be careful not to get a fishbone stuck."
Yu Xia’s gaze was glued to the grilled fish, impossible to tear away, nodding absentmindedly.
"Alright, alright." It really smells good.
Xie Qingci strapped everything on his back, looked back at her, and couldn’t help but laugh.
"Let’s go, sis."
"Coming!"
He carried everything, while Yu Xia merely needed to hold the grilled fish and the bag of buns, with ease like hiring a porter.
Following part of yesterday’s path, they began their second day’s journey.
Walking through the wild rapeseed field tall as a person, the drone hovered mid-air capturing scenery, not able to clearly depict them, with just their voices audible.
Yu Xia joyously said, "My fish grilling skills aren’t bad, huh? I’ll go back and grill one for my brother and them to eat."
Xie Qingci just laughed.
She added, "It feels like life has hope. Mmm, it really is aromatic... cough, cough, cough! Yuck, too much chili powder."
Xie Qingci: "You didn’t sprinkle evenly; eat the other side. Watch your step, don’t fall into the rapeseed field."
"Got it!"
The screen scrolled by with comments from early risers.
