Shrouded Seascape-Chapter 1119. Suggestion
Chapter 1119. Suggestion
005's words were unexpected to everyone present.
In their eyes, 005 had always been omnipotent, and there were few things she couldn't do. However, it seemed that they were mistaken. Otherwise, she wouldn't have uttered such words.
It turned out that the gap between Charles and 005 had narrowed by a huge margin without anyone realizing it.
Charles frowned as he extended his hand toward 005. "Give me back what I gave you, then. Your words just now aren't worth a wish."
Instead of returning what Charles had traded away, 005 said, "I said I can't help, but I can offer a constructive suggestion toward your goal."
With that, the white wish ball in her hand slowly disappeared.
005 looked at Lily.
Lily was suspended in the air, emanating a radiant but gentle sunlight.
005 gently reached out with her right hand and plucked the sun from the sky before playing with it as if it were a ping pong ball.
"Regardless of her appearance, she's ultimately a mere part of Fhtagn. Her potential is limited, and one with limited potential cannot possibly reverse the boundless river of time."
005's eyes wrapped in black bandages turned to face Charles. "But you're different. Your potential is unlimited. If anyone can reverse the time of the Subterranean Sea, then it would be you. Even I cannot do it."
"I can't." Of course, Charles had thought about doing it by himself. If he could do so, he would have done it long ago. "The knowledge to control time is boundless, and I'm like a kettle that is almost full of boiling water.
"I'm afraid I'll become Edikth before I can even grasp its early stages."
005 suspended the ping pong ball in mid-air, and the colossal, spectacular sun returned. The sun's dazzling sunlight cast two long shadows of 005 and Charles on the ground.
"I know, so my constructive suggestion is that you devour this little sun, transform her into an organ, and then freeze your time a second before you become Edikth."
Charles, Sparkle, and Lily's hearts tightened upon hearing that.
Devour Lily? Charles thought.
"Yes, devour her. Transform her into an organ, and you will be able to control time while also having the capacity to take care of other affairs."
Lily was far calmer than Charles had thought.
"Mr. Charles, if it's going to save everyone, then I'm willing to do it."
"No, don't be hasty. Listen to what she has to say first," Charles said. He felt that 005 could provide a helping hand when it came to that.
"So I'll obtain enough power to reverse the time of the Subterranean Sea?"
"No, even Edikth's power is insufficient to reverse the time of the Subterranean Sea. What happens afterward is a gamble that you must take."
005's words truly left Charles at a loss for words, but he said nothing and simply waited for her to continue.
"You need to absorb enough power in an instant, and Lily is that power. Take advantage of that opportunity to break through the barrier and elevate yourself to a higher-dimensional existence than Edikth.
"If you're lucky, you'll obtain the ability to reverse time on such a large scale."
"A higher-dimensional existence... what will happen to my thoughts and cognition by then? Will I still have them?" Charles asked, instantly grasping the key point. To become Edikth, he would have to discard all traces of his humanity, so what would he have to sacrifice to become a higher-dimensional existence than Edikth?
"Hmm, that's why I said you need to be lucky. You're betting on whether you can reverse the time of the Subterranean Sea before your humanity runs out. If you're lucky, you'll have a bit of humanity left by the time you're done.
"If you succeed, the Subterranean Sea will be under protection. If you fail, then the Subterranean Sea will have another god."
"What kind of suggestion is that? You just made that on the spot, right?" Charles asked. In his eyes, 005's so-called constructive suggestion was simply unreliable and too risky.
He wasn't afraid of death, but he had no plans of ending his own life for a stupid gamble. The success rate of 005's suggestion was certainly lower than the success rate of his other contingency plans.
"No, I didn't come up with that on the spot. In fact, someone else once followed my suggestion, but he failed," 005 replied. Then, her figure slowly became illusory. She had somewhat fulfilled Charles' wish, so she was getting ready to leave.
The affairs of the Subterranean Sea were irrelevant to her. In her eyes, she was just a passerby.
"You said before that you'd do your best to fulfill wishes, right? Since you know that someone else has attempted to make use of that suggestion of yours, don't you think you should do everything you can to help me?" Charles asked.
He felt a bit reluctant to let 005 leave just like that. After all, it could be said that 005 was the only external help he had found so far.
"Unfortunately, I can't help you. As I mentioned, this body of mine in the Subterranean Sea is just a tiny portion of my main body. This tiny part is too weak to help you when it comes to concepts involving time.
"My main body can come here and help you. That will significantly increase the success rate, but you cannot afford to pay that price. You'll need at least ten wishes for me to do that."
"Ten wishes..." Charles stood quietly. 005's words were no different from a direct refusal. He had already traded away everything he could afford to do so, so there was no way he could trade for ten more wishes.
"You never said that to me back then."
"The past is the past, and the present is the present. Everything is changing, isn't it?" 005 replied. In the end, she left, leaving the three "people" to quietly look at each other.
Whether 005's suggestion was feasible or not was yet to be seen, but it was indeed a constructive suggestion. Moreover, it seemed like it was the one and only way.
"Mr. Charles, I'm willing. If it's going to protect everyone, I'm truly willing to do it," Lily said, sounding determined.
"No!" Sparkle exclaimed. Her attitude toward 005's suggestion was inexplicably stern, and for the first time in a while, anger suffused her delicate, fair face. "Daddy, let's go. Let Lily take us to the past!
"We'll surely have plenty of time to think of another way in the past!"
Sparkle was aware of the outcome of 005's suggestion. Regardless of success or failure, her father would certainly disappear.
Charles shook his head in disagreement and replied, "No, it is useless to keep running away. We have to try it. Once we succeed, we will be able to defeat Fhtagn once and for all!"
"But you're really going to die!" Sparkle exclaimed, and her eyes turned red.
Charles looked down at his fleshy body and smiled bitterly. "If I'm going to die, then so be it. To be honest, I've lost too much—far too much. What's the point of living like this?"
Charles tried hard to recall the past, wanting to find something worth remembering, but he discovered that apart from a strong reluctance to part with his daughter, his heart had become an empty void.
"What about me?! What am I supposed to do once you're gone?!" Sparkle asked. Tears slid down her face as she tightly gripped the hem of her clothes with both hands.
