Shrouded Seascape-Chapter 1133. Now
Chapter 1133. Now
The old woman raised her saber and smashed it down. The saber moved so fast that it left afterimages, and Anna's corrosive flames that seemed to be capable of reducing everything to mere ashes were easily dodged.
In the blink of an eye, the saber was right in front of Anna.
At this moment, Anna's figure seemed to have been locked at a certain point in space. She couldn't move, and even her will was immobilized. She could only watch helplessly as the saber descended toward her head.
The impact came first before the saber could physically hit Anna. Her fair skin cracked open, revealing tentacles underneath. Even the tentacles split open into mangled flesh and blood.
However, the damage wasn't over yet.
Just as Anna thought that she was going to die, a black shadow flew over and covered her face.
Clang!
Sparks flew as the sound of metal colliding with metal rang out.
Everything was settled in an instant.
A long, narrow ditch was gouged out behind Anna. The ditch was hundreds of meters long and was unfathomably deep. Anna stood there, stunned. Her encumbered will and senses were gradually returning to her as she realized that she was actually still alive.
Before she could feel relieved, however, the black shadow on her face split into two and fell powerlessly to the ground. Anna looked down and saw the clown mask.
Loosely clumped and jet-black Origin Essence flowed out of the mask and dissipated into nothingness. The clown mask had blocked the fatal blow for Anna, and it died on the spot.
A tremor ran across Anna's heart at the realization, and an emotion she had never felt before tugged at her heart.
Anna slowly turned to look at Wilson as well as the old lady, whose facial features were sealed shut. Her lips fluttered open, seemingly saying something. Immediately afterward, a grotesque noise echoed as Anna was split open from the middle before falling to the ground.
Anna's greenish-yellow blood seeped into the ditch behind her. Her figure twitched a few times before it completely stopped moving. She looked absolutely miserable, except for her head; every other part of her body was neatly cut in half. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
The meticulous Foundation would never employ just one method against their target. This was a perfect assassination that ended before anyone could even react to it.
Wilson instantly breathed a sigh of relief at the sight. He tapped his earpiece and muttered, "Target deceased; terminate all backup plans."
Roy and the others beside him were frozen. They had no idea what to do.
The fact that Anna was dead meant that it was meaningless for them to resist.
Just then, several helicopters flew over and landed. Figures in white, streamlined armor rushed out of the helicopters and cordoned off the area.
Once it was confirmed that the area was safe, some people walked up to Wilson and began talking to him. They seemed to be Wilson's colleagues, and they were probably discussing the details of today's operation.
"We have to leave now. The radiation here is too high. I haven't had any children yet. Let's leave and talk later," Wilson said. Then, he started walking toward the helicopter.
Swoosh!
The air let out a shrill cry as a cold gleam swept past everyone. Shockingly, the quiet old lady had abruptly slashed out with her long saber. Those nearby revealed shocked faces, but before they could even react, they collapsed to the ground.
They were neatly cut in half on the chest, and blood wantonly poured out of their corpses.
The people in the helicopters sensed that something was amiss and began to take flight. However, it was too late. There was a flash of cold light, and the helicopters were chopped into two.
"Watch out! Disconnect from the network! Everyone, initiate passive mode!!" Wilson exclaimed at the figures in white armor. Then, he ripped his earpiece off his ear and made his way toward the downed helicopter.
He rushed into the helicopter and walked out of it with a medical kit in hand. Then, he approached Anna and immediately started treatment with a solemn face. After a while, Anna's two halves were sutured together, and the massive wound was smeared with a thick layer of what looked like an ointment.
However, it seemed that Wilson was still dissatisfied. He dragged the corpses of his colleagues and stuffed them into Anna's monstrous maw.
Roy, Li Lu, and the others stared blankly at the sight.
Everything happened so quickly that they had yet to recover from the shock.
How come that old lady with a saber suddenly attacked her comrades, and what was wrong with that man called Wilson? Instead of returning to base, why was he treating Anna's injuries?
Everyone present was confused, except for Olivia. She was capable of peeking into anyone's memories, so she instantly realized what was going on.
"Anna's still alive! When they let their guard down, she immediately took advantage of that and transformed them into our comrades!" she exclaimed. Then, she ran over and helped Anna up.
The wriggling tentacles retracted as Anna returned to her human form. She then lay quietly in the young woman's arms.
The figures in white armor made no movement whatsoever. They weren't going to make a move until Wilson had ordered them to do so. Thus, a bizarre silence descended, and everyone's gaze was on Anna.
Anna was silent for a while. She trembled and struggled to stand up. Once she was standing up, she walked two steps and grabbed the clown mask on the ground.
Without its Origin Essence, the mask became extremely fragile. It was so fragile that it began to crumble in Anna's hand.
Anna was reminded of the times she had spent with the clown.
She wasn't really aware of the clown's past, and she had been treating it as a mere subordinate, but the clown's senseless and meaningless death made Anna realize that she wasn't really indifferent toward the clown.
"You wanted to ask me for a favor, but you hadn't said anything about what you wanted me to do for you. It'd be great if I were aware of it," Anna muttered. She lowered her head and put on the broken mask.
Then, she gripped the mask tightly. The mask crumbled slowly in her hands until it was finally reduced to a pile of rubble.
A tentacle lashed out. It moved so fast that it left afterimages in the air as it landed on Wilson's face. The powerful impact allowed Wilson to break free from Anna's control, but any efforts he mustered to defend himself were useless.
He was destined to have his head twisted off by Anna's tentacle. A tentacle covered in gray tendrils rolled up the head and placed it in Anna's hand. She hugged the head and began gnawing on it.
At first, she gnawed on it slowly, seemingly enjoying it, but soon, she began taking bigger and bigger chunks of it as her face became ferocious to the extreme.
For the final bite, she went all out, crushing the skull and sucking in every ounce of brain matter.
Anna's lower jaw parted like a flower, and a shrill, ear-piercing roar filled with uncompressed fury rushed out of her maw covered in razor-sharp teeth.
When Anna's roar faded, her lower jaw closed. She swept her gaze across the figures in white armor standing frozen like statues and smiled coldly. "Since you already know that I'm still alive, I'm not going to hide anymore."
Anna looked around and saw Jackal in the distance. He was covered in dust.
"Contact those whose memories I've altered and tell them to light the fuse."
The confused Jackal stared in a daze at Anna. Then, he glanced at the faces of his surviving comrades and asked, "Light the fuse? When?"
"Now!!"
