Chapter 33: Departure
Rhain instantly snapped out of his daze, and released her soft hand with a slightly awkward laugh, "Sorry, I was just lost in thought."
He looked at her blushing face and seriously asked, "Do you have any idea what this power of yours is?"
"I do not know anything..." Seris woodenly shook her head. "Except... there is an extra, strange martial art in my mind."
"A martial art?" Rhain raised his eyebrows slightly.
"It is a sword art." As she spoke, Seris raised her hand.
A mesmerizing, transcendent blue light flashed in her palm.
In the blink of an eye, an ice sword forged of pure essence materialized in her grasp.
The instant it appeared, a terrifying chillness erupted.
The temperature plummeted so drastically it felt as if winter had descended upon the training ground in a single breath.
But in the very next heartbeat—
Crack!
The sword hastily dissipated into specks of icy light, vanishing completely without a trace.
Seris’s face paled a little, and her breathing became slightly laborious.
"This martial art requires a massive amount of essence and extremely precise control," she explained, taking a soft breath. "I am still struggling to comprehend it."
Rhain smiled and patted her shoulder. "You do not need to rush. You will eventually be able to use it perfectly when your realm improves."
He then spoke in an extremely grave tone. "You can come to the Hollow Realm. But you must be extremely careful. The hollow realm will forcibly separate us the moment we enter. Therefore, the first thing we must do is find each other. Do you understand?"
Seris firmly nodded her head in silent agreement.
With the matter settled, Rhain let out a slow exhale.
He casually walked over to a clean patch of the stone training ground and sat down casually.
Rhain let out a slow, quiet breath and unhurriedly sat down on the soft stone ground. "" he murmured.
"The moon is looking quite beautiful today, I don’t have any mood to go back to my residence." He lifted his head to look at the night sky, and let out a slow breath, "I won’t be able to sleep today anyway, thinking about what is going to come next."
Seris also sat beside him, shoulder to shoulder. Together, they peacefully gazed at the bright, silvery moon.
She also lifted her head, her beautiful, ice-blue tinted hair catching the moonlight.
The two of them sat in the quiet, cool night, gazing at the moon in absolute silence.
"It feels just like a dream..." She pulled her knees to her chest, reflecting on the past. "Just a month ago, we were only ordinary outer disciples."
She turned her head slightly, looking at Rhain’s handsome face.
"And now... so much has changed so quickly."
Her pale purple eyes overflowed with a wavering light that was even brighter than the stars. "Sometimes... I feel afraid. I am afraid that one day, you will go so far that I won’t be able to even see your back."
Rhain’s heart shook slightly.
He extended his arm and lightly embraced her delicate shoulder. "I promise you," Rhain said without the slightest hesitation, "I will never leave you behind. If I go somewhere, I will definitely take you with me."
Hearing those words, the restless anxiety in Seris’s heart finally settled.
A sweet, peaceful smile graced her lips.
She slowly leaned over, resting her head gently against his broad shoulder.
They talked for a while in the cool night breeze.
Slowly, Seris’s eyes closed and her breath became even; she had peacefully fallen asleep, her head resting against his shoulder.
Rhain silently smiled.
He also closed his eyes, completely still, and silent.
.....
The golden rays of dawn brightly poured over the Azure Cloud Sect. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"DONG!"
A loud, deafening gong sound suddenly echoed through the Azure Cloud Sect.
It was the summoning call.
Seris startled awake, rubbing her sleepy eyes before realizing she had spent the entire night resting on Rhain’s shoulder.
Her face instantly flushed red, but there was no time for embarrassment.
"It’s time," Rhain said, standing up and pulling her to her feet.
Both of them quickly stood up and arrived before the main gates of the sect.
Torin, Maren, Victor, all were already present.
More and more members began to arrive, and soon, all thirty people representing the Azure Cloud Sect had gathered.
Harmon stood before them, a heavy look on his face as he wished them them luck.
"May the gods watch over our Azure Cloud Sect, and may each of you return safely."
Harmon waved his hand.
Immediately, a few guards stepped forward, handing two items to each of the thirty members.
One was a small, exquisitely carved jade pendant.
The other was a spatial storage ring.
"The moment you enter the Hollow Realm, it will forcibly separate you!" Harmon’s voice echoed clearly in the morning breeze. "This jade pendant is a Location-Tracking Talisman. Inject a trace of your essence into it, and it will reveal your location to the other members holding this jade pendant. The moment you enter the Hollow Realm, everyone must gather as soon as possible!"
"The second is a spatial storage ring," Harmon continued, his gaze sharpening into an eagle-like stare. "Listen to me carefully. Consume all the resources you can the exact moment you find them! Do not store them unless it is a resource you cannot consume or use directly.
"In the Hollow Realm, a dead man has no use for treasures," Harmon said ruthlessly. "Every fraction of power you gain inside could be the difference between a severed head and returning home."
Everyone obediently nodded their heads in solemn agreement.
Just then, the heavy, rhythmic sound of footsteps approached from the mountain path outside the gates.
Everyone turned their heads.
Dorris and Roderick Graves had arrived, bringing along their twenty-member team.
Rhain’s dark grey eyes casually swept over their ranks.
The Graves family team consisted of fifteen middle-aged experts at the Essence Condensation Realm, and only five youths.
The strongest among their younger generation exuded an aura at the ninth level of the Essence Awakening Realm, exactly the same as Victor.
Both parties openly measured each other.
After all, they would have to closely cooperate in the realm of death shortly after.
As the Graves family halted before the gates, Dorris and Roderick stepped forward to greet Harmon.
"Harmon," Dorris greeted, cupping his fists with a hearty laugh. "It seems your Azure Cloud Sect is fully prepared."
"Naturally," Harmon nodded slowly. "Your Graves family has also called out your elites."
As Dorris and Roderick stepped forward to exchange pleasantries, their hawkish eyes instinctively swept across the Azure Cloud Sect’s roster.
Suddenly, both of their expressions completely froze.
They saw Rhain standing casually among the disciple group!
Their minds violently trembled. For Rhain to be standing there... it clearly meant that he had actually defeated Fourth Elder Torin!
Dorris turned his shocked gaze toward Harmon Vael for confirmation.
Harmon silently nodded his head.
Dorris and Roderick then turned their horrified eyes toward Torin.
Torin only smiled helplessly, giving a slight shrug.
Dorris’s and Roderick’s eyes locked on Rhain with unconcealed terror.
Rhain felt their burning gaze, and turned his head to look at them with a friendly smile and nodded.
A chill ran down Dorris’s and Roderick’s back.
They immediately swore to themselves that they absolutely must not make Rhain their enemy at any cost!
Seeing that everyone had finally gathered, Harmon took a deep breath.
He stepped forward, his eyes sweeping across the fifty gathered individuals.
"Now that everyone has arrived," Harmon announced, his dignified gaze piercing toward the distant horizon. "The survival of our sect and our families rests upon your shoulders. We depart now!"
"Yes, Sect Master!"
With Harmon and Dorris taking the lead, the massive group marched out of the Azure Cloud Sect’s gates with great might and vigor.
