Sign In To The Body Of Chaos At The Start-Chapter 67: Starlight Island!
Chapter 67: Starlight Island!
"AAAAAHHHHH!!" The screams of Artemis echoed throughout the pure darkness that both of them were experiencing.
After entering the Portal, a mysterious issue appeared, sending their teleportation into disarray. They had been falling for an unknown period of time, and didn’t know when it would stop. Usually, teleportation portals took anywhere from 5 seconds to 2 minutes to teleport a person somewhere.
Yet, they had been falling for over 10 minutes at this point. The Mana in the environment was chaotic, leading Artemis to panic and cling onto Damon tightly like her life depended on it.
Damon meanwhile, was completely calm. Using his <Eyes Of Oblivion>, he was able to analyze the Mana signatures and realize that the Portal was tampered with, and was sending them to an unknown, probably dangerous location.
Damon deduced that the person who wanted him dead had to be from the Dragon Clan, as only an influential Dragon would have enough power to have the Mana Teleportation Portal tampered with for his arrival without anyone knowing.
He also presumed Artemis wasn’t supposed to be apart of their plans, and was just a surprise addition.
"Calm down, you’re safe with me." Damon said, his deep, masculine voice booming into Artemis’ ears as she clung onto him.
Artemis nodded, taking deep breaths to calm down, but she just couldn’t. She was in a foreign place, feeling afraid as she was sent to an unknown location with only Damon to protect her.
As they were thinking this, suddenly...
~CRASH~
Damon crashed against the floor with Artemis in his arms. He used his back and arm to break the fall, cushioning the terrified girl to lessen her pain
"Are you okay?" Damon asked, watching Artemis who had her eyes closed out of fear, trembling in his arms. He presumed that although she had spent alot of time training, her family hadn’t sent her on any actual field missions by herself, leading her to be shocked when faced with such an unexpected situation.
"Mmhmm!" Artemis said with a nod.
Damon let her go and both of them stood up, beginning to scout their surroundings. Damon and Artemis looked around, and spotted themselves in a vast, mysterious Island.
Destroyed trees, trampled flowers littered the surrounding area. Damon could also see thousands upon thousands of dead bodies scattered around, some hanging from trees, some half buried in the ground, some of them completely missing parts of their bodies.
Anywhere Damon and Artemis looked there were dead, broken bodies scattered around, the whole place was full of broken weapons, mutilated corpses, and a catastrophically destroyed environment.
The awful, corrupted aura of the Abyss also plagued the lands, leading Damon to believe that Abyssal Monsters were also present.
As Damon looked around and inspected the corpses, he could see a variety of races present. Demons, DemiHumans, Elves, Dwarves, any and all races one could think of, there was a dead body present for them.
The innards of the bodies were scattered all around the bodies. If a faint-hearted person saw this scene they would faint at the very first sight of this horrible situation.
~Sniffle~Sniffle!
As Damon was preparing to walk forward and explore more, the depressing sniffles of Artemis came into his ears. Looking next to him, he could spot the DemiHuman’s eyes locked onto the bodies of her kind, tears building up and she stood there sadly.
Damon had to assume this was the first time she saw such a horrific sight like this. Damon walked next to Artemis and hugged her kindly, allowing the Future Huntress to bury her head into his arms and cry, letting out all her emotions.
Her tears stained his clothing but Damon didn’t care, just holding onto her and allowing Artemis to express herself.
Damon checked his phone, and sure enough, he didn’t have service, so he couldn’t contact anyone through normal means. Still, he wasn’t worried, his Mother and his subordinates all had ways to assure that he was alive, so no unfound rumors could be spread during his disappearance.
"Hmm, that’s strange." Damon said. He wasn’t paying attention to it, but after calming down, the Inheritance he had received from Lilith was overbearingly active now.
He checked through the information, and realized he was currently on Starlight Island, the place where the Astronomanian Princess was sealed away by the Sovereigns. This was originally supposed to be his final destination, yet now it was his first one.
He looked around, using his <Eyes Of Oblivion> and spotted the various Mana Formations around. According to what Lilith said, these formations could even kill a Peak God Realm.
Thankfully, he was also given all the information to avoid the formations and arrive at the center of the Island, where he could enter the region where the Astronomanian Princess was sealed.
"Just follow me and you’ll be safe." Damon said, and Artemis nodded. In this situation, it was natural that she followed Damon, whom appeared much calmer and seemed to have experienced situations like this multiple times before.
Once Damon was assured Artemis was calmed down, he began his journey towards unsealing the Princess.
**********
~BOOM~BOOM~BOOM!
Massive explosions boomed across the battlefield as Damon engaged in a fierce battle with the Abyssal Monsters that roamed Starlight Island.
Damon and Artemis had been walking across the island for several hours at this point, and had came across many isolated Abyssal Monsters, who Damon had effortlessly dispatched.
After breaking through to the Forbidden Mage Realm, these Abyssal Monsters were simply too easy for him. However, the situation changed as they moved closer and closer towards the Island’s center.
Damon had done a good job at avoiding all of the deadly Mana Formations using the information provided by Lilith, and his <Eyes Of Oblivion>, and as they moved closer and closer towards the center, groups of powerful Abyssal Monsters appeared.
Damon stood defiant, he was currently in his <World Ender> Demonic Form, his powers massively amplified as his looks changed. His overbearing horns, gigantic wings, intense eyes and tyrannical aura spread across the environment as a swirling vortex of magic crackled around him.
BloodReaper, his weapon, shimmered with a ghastly red light, eager to slay his enemies one at a time as Damon faced another wave of Abyssal Monsters, all the while Artemis stayed safely behind him, protected by an Artifact Damon had given her.
Damon tightened his grip on the sword, as he saw the Abyssal Monsters move closer, he slashed through some effortlessly, bobbing and weaving as cut them down one by one, all the while dodging their attcks.
Artemis meanwhile, watched closely, her beautiful ears twitching with anxiety. It wasn’t the first time she saw Damon engage these monsters, yet every time, she grew more and more anxious. Her gaze lingered on him, a mixture of admiration and worry evident in her eyes. "Please win!" She murmured.
"Crimson Eternity!" Damon muttered, slashing his sword and unleashing a slash of crimson energy that cleaved through the air with a deafening crack. The leading creatures were bisected, their bodies disintegrating into ash and dark vapors that were swept away by the roaring wind.
"Aegis!" Damon muttered, a multi-layered, rainbow colored shield appeared behind him, blocking the attacks of the more intelligent abyssal monsters who attacked from different angles instead of all running in from the front.
All the attacks that hit the shield rebounded with amplified power, sending multiple of them flying with deep gashes and injuries.
Yet more Abyssal Monsters followed, undeterred by the fate of their kin. Damon moved with the fluid grace of a seasoned swordsman, each strike precise and potent. His sword carved through flesh and shadow alike, sending arcs of deadly purple lightning.
Each slash was like a lightning-storm, shockwave after shockwave hit the lands as Damon fought valiantly.
"Frost Prison!" Damon muttered, a gigantic ring of frost appearing beneath a wave of Abyssal Monsters and trapping them in a Prison of Ice.
"Frost Implosion!" Then, the prison imploded in on itself, the massive implosion sending waves of frost cascading to Abyssal Monsters whom followed up, freezing them instantly and making them shatter like glass.
Still, Damon could feel the weight of their malevolence bearing down on him, the Abyssal Monsters weren’t called beings of pure evil for nothing. Whispers of despair and destruction entered his ears, while their overbearing evil aura corrupted the environment.
"Artemis!" Damon shouted, parrying a swipe from a creature’s clawed hand, he was getting pushed back more and more, and needed a buff from the cute Foxlady.
Artemis nodded, placing a hand across her chest as a massive Phantom of a Nine-Tailed Fox Goddess appeared behind her. Gentle, golden light erupted from the phantom and entered Damon’s body, not only healing his body, but refilling his mana reserves and buffing his power for a short duration.
Before the Phantom disappeared, it sent one final attack, a beam of rainbow-light that annihilated over half of the remaining enemies, leaving only the stragglers remaining for Damon to finish them off.
The Demon could see concern etched on Artemis’ delicate features. Her tail swished nervously, and despite the peril, he couldn’t help but notice the way her eyes softened when they met his, he smiled and assured her everything was okay, leaping back into battle to finish this once and for all.
BloodReaper became a blur of deadly energy, cutting through the enemies with each powerful strike. He was a whirlwind of destruction and fury, a beacon against the tide of corruption.
Artemis, her heart pounding with a mixture of fear and admiration, watched as Damon fought. Her eyes glistened with unshed tears, her hands clasped together as she silently prayed for his safety, she had finally found someone the Lesser Spirits loved, and didn’t want him to die like this.
In a quiet corner of her heart, she hoped that Damon might one day see her not just as someone to protect, but as someone to cherish. She cursed her weakness. Although she trained so much and worked so hard, she had no actual experience. She told herself that if they returned from this, she would dedicate herself to raiding dungeons and killing monsters, so she can never feel so useless ever again.
The battle raged on, and as Damon brutally killed the remaining Abyssal Monsters, finally giving them time to rest.
As he calmed down and looked around, Damon realized, they were finally close to the Astonomanian Princess’ sealing grounds.
