SILVER-HAIRED-Chapter 135: First Day As Empress
And the days passed, it was over, finally over. And hence the day for my duties as an Empress arrived. I haven’t seen Nicklaus for days now, I’m told he was very busy, I wondered what got him crowded so much, when he returned from the throne room it was always late, I wondered if he even slept in bed, I took a sniff of the air, I smell like him the usual fresh fragrance so he must be snuggling close to me at night. I sighed, would this be how our marriage would be like now? Both parties rule and have no time for each other. I shook my head, it was too early to think of such.
"All done, Empress," Olivia said with a smile on her lips. Watching her handwork elatedly, I was dressed in my royal attire ready on the go.
"Alright, shall we?"
She nods standing upright, Olivia was as beautiful as always, being a vampire now suited her well. We walked to the door, Mint was already waiting with some guards.
"Is this really necessary?" I say as we sauntered the hall, will I be accompanied by five guards every day including Mint?
"Its protocol Empress, you are this Realms important person and our Empress" he explains.
"I know but it’s just..."
"Different from the Mortal Realm" he smiled. I nodded with a faint smile.
"Well Empress, it’s a difference"
"Yes, I suppose it is" I took a deep breath, I was royal now, I was Empress of the Vampire Realm.
The doors spread open and I saw the white-coated environment. "We are going outside?"
"Not really Empress, the pavilion is just outside, we will still be within the palace do not worry" Olivia explains helping me with the red thick cloak.
"So outside, in the snow" A wide smile crossed my lips, the thought of running around and feeling my hands against the snow overwhelmed me.
"We’re to work Empress"
"Oh right," I said, still giddy as we stepped outside, gods it was wondrous, the scenery of the entire compound had stopped snowing but it was just beautiful. I really loved this time of the season. I tried to remember the fact that I had people to meet and not run around in the snow like a child, although I was very tempted.
We got to the long bridge leading to the big pavilion, there were many maidens there engaging in talks that I could hear them this far ahead. I counted, there were 5 of them, that can’t be all the court right.
"Just 5?"
"Yes Empress, they are the representative of each clan, you will be conversing with the head women of each" Olivia whispered to me.
I gulped, getting extremely nervous, all the courage I had then was lost to the cold wind.
"You will do good, Empress," Mint said at my other side, I’m afraid we will just have to see about that.
"The Empress is here"
They were up on their feet, curtsying. "Empress," they said in unison, but seeing no reply from me, they raised their heads with questionable looks. I gulped all the beautiful colors of eyes on me.
"F-Forgive me for being quiet, you are all so beautiful, that you got me stunned," I said honestly, they were so beautiful, do they even know the word ugly?
"You flatter us Empress, but we must decline for your beauty is compared to none of us," one of them said, and then she smiled. "Lady Layla Molinaro of the Clan"
She had golden locks and gold eyes, her skin was snow white and the black dress brought out all her curves.
"Thank you, Lady Layla"
She bowed.
"Empress Please seat," another said, I nervously did, at the front before them, Olivia and Mint stood at either side of me.
"Allow me to introduce myself too, I’m Lady Lenora Kisner of the Clan" the one who told me to sit said, she had brown hair and red eyes.
"Lady Aerith Elrod of the Clan", she had dark hair and violet eyes.
"Lady Claudia Whitlock of the Clan", she had dark hair and blue eyes, they were shiny.
"Lady Elvira Barlowe of the Clan", she had dark brown hair and chartreuse eyes.
All so beautiful like the goddesses they were, gold jewelry to their taste, and their gowns were quite the expensive attire, I could tell just by the look of it.
"P-Pleased to meet you all"
"We are glad to finally have an Empress," Aerith said with a smile against her lips, her violet eyes sparkling with delight. It was a very welcoming smile.
"Yes The Emperor has ruled for centuries alone, we are happy he has someone now" Elvira toned in.
"Mustn’t forget there’s still one of us who is yet to be here" Layla said.
"Who?" I asked curiously.
"Your sister in law of course"
I forgot! Celeste was a royal family too.
"I’m here!" Celeste tipped in quickly, taking her seat. "Forgive me Empress for being late, caught up in one of two things"
"It’s good to have you here," I said.
"Indulging yourself in whatsoever again... you kept the Empress waiting Lady Celeste," Layla said with a forced smile, taking her tea.
"It’s alright there’s no problem" I intoned.
"Well you see Lady Layla, the Empress doesn’t have a problem with it," Celeste said through gritted teeth.
"I see, although I’m curious as to why you’re late for you have no husband to cater for, all of us here are married and still we’re not late"
"I’m a bachelor, surely I have more enticing things than caring for males" she smirks.
Layla looks away with a frown.
Okay, what is going on?
"Lady Celeste and Lady Layla don’t see eye to eye" Lady Claudia who was seated beside me whispered to my ear.
"Obviously," Lady Elvira said, sipping her tea.
"Are they always like this?"
"It depends, if it isn’t about husbands then it’s about other things, they are like that but don’t let it bother you, Empress," Claudia said.
Lenora nods in agreement.
"So Empress, good to have you here, at last, shall the meeting commerce?" Celeste said.
"I would have said it better," Layla said.
☆☆☆
"Those two are aggravating," I said, rubbing my forehead, I was as far as possible away from that pavilion, the meeting did commence but with those two I had to call it a day, gods my head.
"They are always like that Empress, I think it’s because Lady Celeste is yet to find her mate, Lady Layla thinks she’s not worthy" Olivia explained.
"That’s some very disturbing opinion, Celeste has the right to choose whatever she wants" I fired.
"Well it hasn’t sit quite well with Lady Layla"
I sighed, meeting with those was gonna be the worst, I came to a pause, my eyes trailing on the snowy environment, and then some trees up ahead coated in them, I sighed heavily. Whenever I look at those trees it was like I was forgetting something, trees, forest, garden, flowers, animals.
"Animals" I murmured.
"Empress, we should go inside, this weather is not pleasant for you," Olivia said worried for my health
"Yes Empress, we should retire inside," Mint said this time.
"Is there another pavilion?"
"Yes Empress, but why?"
I smiled. "Well I’m not ready to go in yet, we should spend some time out here, being inside too much is not exactly good for my health," I said trying to sound as convincing as I could and they seem to buy the idea.
"Very well Empress"
I smiled. "With just the two of you, having these guards are uncomfortable"
"Bu-"
"Please"
Mint sighed in defeat, he stroked a nod.
☆☆☆
"Ha finally some air and quiet... without two ladies burning my ears"
Olivia chuckled at my remark. "You will adjust to them both Empress, do not worry"
I ate a biscuit. "Well I hope so"
I eyed Mint who stood at the entrance a little far from us. "You and Mint are getting close" I mused. They thought I wouldn’t have noticed it but they were constantly meeting gazes and Olivia was always blushing and Mint, a smile against his lips. It felt really good to see that they were getting along, no more obstacles like the Mortal Realm.
"Yes" she blushes more, well there was one thing that hasn’t changed about Olivia, she was still a shy type when it came to Mint. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"He’s very sweet and I want to spend the rest of my life with him I couldn’t ask for more"
I took her hand. "And both of you should, you both deserve everything good possible"
She smiled warmly at me. "You know before you arrived along with Mint, I have always felt lonely, like a part of me is missing, not until I met you and Mint. I feel this sense of obligation towards you, I feel like I can be by your side always like I have always been"
"You were always by me Olivia, you’re not just a maid to me... you are my first friend and you will always be", I looked towards the direction of Mint.
We heard a branch snap. Mint got alerted instantly as well as Olivia.
"There’s something in the woods!"
