SILVER-HAIRED-Chapter 166: Aftereffect
¤●¤
Olivia’s eyes were on the full moon highlight, the area was covered in blazing snow, nonstop. Even being the vampire she was, she was cold, the weather was getting more intense by the minute. She rubbed her arms together, shivering slightly, her eyes sad, and she sighed deeply.
Mint approached her from behind.
"I’m worried, Mint... I’m worried about the Empress" she said sadly.
"We all are"
She faced him, he looked downhearted as well. "Why do you think she left?"
"I do not know, but do not worry Olivia I will do everything in my power to find her" he took a step closer to her.
Olivia’s eyes went all teary and he embraced her in a tight hug, she cried silently worried for Yelena’s sake.
"I just hope she’s okay," she sniffled.
Mint could tell how worried and sad she was, he was too, the whole palace was in an uproar from her disappearance. And the Realm has never been colder, most of the palaces were getting covered in ice. They all felt sad but he knew who felt it the most.

"Speak," Nicklaus said, not bothering to turn his eyes away from the window.
"We have searched everywhere possible My liege" Mint began, their thorough search was futile, they have searched close to 12 Realms and yet she was nowhere to be found, it was a weak result from their mission and it pained him so that he couldn’t find her, she was like she just disappeared. "...But we can’t find the Empress... it’s like she just-"
"Leave!"
At his voice, Mint shut his mouth, knowing saying more will not help, the Emperor was in a foul mood and he didn’t want to rage it further or it will be the end of him. with a bow he turned and walked away. The doors shut close behind.
Nicklaus’ jaw tightened, his patience was slipping and his mind was being invaded by anger and his beast was getting on a rampage within him. The window glass before him crumbled to pieces, his aura was getting dangerously wild and the storm from outside had never ceased, all vampires remained shut in because of this.
’Yelena’ Nicklaus thought, where could she be? And why wasn’t she coming back to him, why? Why did she do this, does she have any idea how lost he felt right now? What has her Mother done this time?!
He growled loudly... before he knew it the whole room was in a mess, broken antiques, the walls filled with claw marks, and the windows in pieces, his animalistic growls echoed in the room.
A hand found the doorknob. "I don’t think that will be a good idea sister," Alaric said, they were just outside the room door but Alaric stopped her from going in before she did anything she would regret.
"We have to be there for him, we have to" she faces Alaric with teary eyes.
"Hear for yourself Sister"
Celeste paused, the hall fell quiet but not with Nicklaus’ animalistic growls. "His beast is growing unstable every minute, I’m afraid" she took a deep breath. "We have to find Yelena before it’s too late"
"We have no clue where she is, I’m just as eager to find her," he noted.
"The curse... we still have no idea what sort of curse she’s under, if we can find anything then it might be an explanation for why this is all happening, we have to do something or we might lose him forever Alaric"
He was about to say something but then a guard rushed to them.
"Your majesties, we have news from the Sun Realm" he began gaining their attention. "The Mother goddess is no more"
They froze. "What? What do you mean?" Celeste asked with wide eyes.
"Are you telling us she’s dead?" Alaric intoned.
"Yes your majesties"
Suddenly a loud growl shocked from within the room and the walls cracked.
"Something is wrong," Alaric said before barging into the room along with Celeste.
"Nicklaus!"
Nicklaus stood but hunching, his hand against the wall, digging it with his claws, the other hand fell loosely at his side. He was panting, black veins covered his body and his skin was snow white.
"Nicklaus’’ Alaric intoned not knowing whether to go to him or not and then he faced them and they pale seeing black blood trailing from his nose.
Celeste covered her mouth with her hand, Nicklaus has never bled unless he wishes to, what was happening? "Nicklaus"
"You’re bleeding," Alaric said with wide eyes.
Nicklaus’s eyes narrowed, he didn’t seem to realize that himself, he reached for his nose and felt the substance, and his hand was shocked when he saw the black blood.
"Blood," he said in a faint tone. Suddenly a sharp pain found his head, and he fell to one knee.
"Nicklaus!" Celeste and Alaric called for him as they rushed to his side.
He couldn’t hear their voices anymore, they fell deaf to his ears, he could only hear his slow heartbeat in his senses, he closed his eyes and opened it and several images plagued his head... one he didn’t have a memory of and then he flashed his orbs open.
"Nicklaus", his eyes trailed to Celeste who had her worried eyes on him.
"Aftereffect"
"What?" Celeste said, puzzled facing Alaric.
"An Aftereffect of what, brother?!"
"A spell"
"A spell, but you haven’t cast any spell and even if you did your body can never react this way, Nicklaus you’re the founder of magic to our people there’s no possible way"
"Did you cast a spell, Nicklaus?" Alaric asked, squatting before him. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
The realization filled him. "I think I did, but I don’t remember doing it"
"Why will you have no memory of a spell you cast yourself, it doesn’t make any sense," Celeste said.
"There is something you should know brother"
Nicklaus’ gaze shifted to Alaric. "We just got news from the Sun Realm, the Mother goddess is dead"
"Dead?"
"Yes"
Nicklaus’ teeth clenched as he rose to his feet, the pain he felt earlier was suddenly off his body, he wiped the blood off his nose with the back of his hand.
"I know what bloody curse she laid on my wife" he walked ahead and they followed after him, in haste.
"What curse brother?"
"The Curse of Mismatch" he huffed. "Casting a spell with one lifespan is for bloody eternity!"
"The Curse of Mismatch?" Celeste said and then her eyes widened in realization. "She changed her fate of love... but to whom?"
With a wave of Nicklaus’ hand, a portal opened, and he stepped through it. Celeste and Alaric took one look at each other before following behind.
"Nicklaus seems to be in an unusual mood, I think he knows something"
Alaric sighed heavily. "There’s something you should know sister" he began, "I think I’m the mate of Mismatch"
"What? Why think so?"
"Because, it is the way Lena looked at me before she stormed off, I know that look", there was no further explanation for this, he knew he was the one. "Something happened in the Greenhouse before Lena disappeared"
"What happened?!" Celeste demands quietly at him, hoping he didn’t do anything crazy.
"I may have mistakenly told her how I felt"
"WHAT?!" Celeste roared.
Nicklaus turned to both of them, eyeing them with curiosity. The portal disappeared and they appeared in a hallway.
"Is there something I should know from you two?" he asked with a nudge of his head, sensing they were in a talk about something.
"There’s-"
"There’s something you should know brother" Alaric cut in.
Celeste shot him a look. "Alaric don’t do anything crazy right now, now is not the time" Celeste whispered to him hoping to talk some sense into his head, there was a reason they have kept this a secret and it shall remain so, she surely hoped her brother wasn’t crazy enough to spill it out!
"I have loved Lena since the moment we crossed paths in the Spirit Realm, I thought I found my mate but I was wrong, but I have never stopped loving her ever since"
He was definitely crazy. "For F*cks sake Alaric!"
"There’s no need keeping it away from him!" he snapped back to her, she stilled and then sighed.
"There is no need for anymore secrets, this is a crucial time", Alaric faces Nicklaus back who had an unreadable expression. "I thought my Beast fell silent when I met her but maybe I was wrong. She is yours only and I’m beginning to accept that, there’s no way I can ever match the love you both have", he said it as a fact because he knew deep down that was the solid truth.
There was a prolonged silence between the two and Celeste grew nervous by the second, her eyes moving back and forth her two brothers, Nicklaus was an unpredictable type and it made her fear for what might happen, Nicklaus was the wildest and untamed of them all, there was a reason he was called the bringer of darkness.
