SILVER-HAIRED-Chapter 169: Reason
I used my hand to rub my cheeks. I paused, wait... hand? I opened my eyes and looked, I wasn’t looking at paws right now but my hand, but still covered in fur and then the realization struck me, I was reversing back to my human form.
I leaned downwards as a sharp pain found my chest, it was so painful, it was similar to the one I had before I disappeared but not that intense, the furs retreated and as it did, the pain only became more prominent and before I knew it I was panting and trying to catch my breath, I helplessly crawled close to the water so that I can see my reflection and I did.
My tattoo against my forehead still remained, the crescent blue moon, it was tiny but well defined. I gasped, my silver hair was wild like I just wandered the whole tropical forest for days, seeing that I wondered how the rest of my body looked.
I quickly forced my body to stand. My gown, yes my gown although still covered in it, was ripped in all angles and unkempt, I was a serious mess, at least I should count myself lucky I was back to my human form and it felt weird, standing back on two feet was weird for me, ME a whole human, I was seriously becoming part of the wild, I sighed, may gods help me, I just hope this form of mine last.
I felt my behind, a rush of emptiness filled me, I missed my tails, oh my tails, they were so fluffy and firm. For god’s sake, Yelena snapped out of it! I mentally scolded myself, now wasn’t the time to be worrying about tails!
At the sound of the rustling bushes I turned sharply, seeing the three gangs, I rose an eyebrow, they must think I can’t see them, their effort to hide was zero, the grasses barely covered them, although to them they assumed they were hiding, I could clearly see them without my fox eyes.
I sighed, a small smile finding my lips. "Okay come out... I can clearly see you" I said and in my voice, they came into view, at least it was just the three of them, I wasn’t sure I was really to face the other creatures.
Ava hopped out and the next was in my arms. I held the wondrous rabbit with care, she felt so fluffy. "Oh, it’s you lady Yelena, it’s really you" she started rubbing my cheek against mine in a loving gesture, a warm smile found my lips.
"Forgive us, we know you wanted your space" Gideon said raising his upper body, his features sad.
"No no not at all, I’m glad that all of you are here"
"We thought you were dead" Puma began almost teary.
"Oh the saddest" Ava said, using her ears to cover her eyes and shaking. My death must have really affected them deeply. What I felt earlier was real. I felt their pain like it was a part of mine. I was connected to these creatures and I knew that now.
"I’m sorry... I know I must have caused you all sadness and what is worse I have no memories of the past" I said feeling guilty and subconsciously biting my bottom lip. I wanted to know what it was like with these lovely creatures, but I couldn’t recall anything.
"There’s no need to apologize, my lady," Puma said.
"What he said," Gideon pointed out. "And what do you mean you have no memories of the past?" he asked with puzzling features.
I was about to speak but...
"This is her reincarnation idiot!" Ava snapped.
"Oh!" he made a sound. "But hold on a sec, she’s a goddess and they did not reincarnate" he added hands on his waist.
"Yes that’s true" Puma intoned.
"But I did... because of my mother," I said in a whisper as my eyes trembled and my mind flashed.

"I do not know where you come from... or what she has done to cause you so much pain. But I do believe every being has their reasons to be driven so far"
His brown eyes were on mine. "Tell me young Fox what could her reason possibly be for causing such a curse upon you?!"

I remembered the Handlers words, what he said to me. I knew for a fact that she reincarnated me so that I may go through the trial she set for me in the Mortal Realm but why do I have the feeling that there was more to it? That it wasn’t just about the trial, what other reason could she have had?
"This may be too much to ask but how did I die?" I suddenly asked and then they paused at my Question.
"Well, you died," Ava said, but then she paused. "You died" she trailed, her eyes growing wide slowly like she was trying to recall the detail but didn’t seem to.
My gaze shifted to the Puma and Gideon, it was like they were caught in a time loop, all they knew about was that I died, but none of them know how? No details or explanation, Something doesn’t feel right.
"If none of you knows then..." I paused, the crack, the loop, it was like something was missing, was this alteration I see here? They didn’t seem to know any other thing aside from that I died, which was not possible in a normal sense. My eyes went wide in a sudden realization, maybe no one knew my death, no one at all, it was said I died, but why and how? I have always asked myself the question over and over again, I was by Nicklaus’ side the way it seemed in the past and I knew by chance I was always protected no matter what.
Nicklaus was cautious and protective and there was no way I could have possibly been killed easily, there must be an explanation for my sudden death and I have a feeling I would get my answers when my memories remained, this place was where it all began and where I can find my answers. It was time to seek it and come to the understanding about my death.
Maybe that was what my mother wanted me to remember, what she sorted, it wasn’t just about my memories but I could finally understand why she hated Nicklaus so much.

I walked to the mirror, observing the new attire I had on. It was like a silk material around my body, my breast covered with it like a veil, falling down and stopping just right beneath my belly, a silk skirt around my waist that fell to my feet. The silk attire I wore was red and brought out my light skin color. I also wore arm bracelets, shaped like a butterfly. My wavy hair let down and fell on my waist. I really looked at the goddess part right now, this was exactly how I was before my untimely death.
My eyes are saddened... my untimely death. I took a deep breath before sauntering away and stepping out of the wood cottage near the waterfall. This was my old place according to the gang. It was beautiful and the body was covered in flowers, giving it the highlights of an enchanted house, butterflies playing at the top, I smiled.
The gang waited outside for me as I sauntered to them.
"You look beautiful My lady" Ava said with a smile, once again they gave me that look like I was the sun to them.
I smiled sweetly at her. "Thank you Ava" My features turned serious, we will have all talks later, right now I needed to find a way, I was very eager. "So tell me, is there a way I can remember?"
"Well..." Gideon began rubbing his chin.
"The Waterfall of Truth," Puma said.
"Hey hey hey, I was about to say that" Gideon snapped.
Puma rolled his eyes. "Well we all would have patiently waited for your tiny brain to work," he remarked.
"Ugh not now you two" Ava said, placing her paws on her waist and giving them a fierce look.
But they kept exchanging words, one at a time like the other couldn’t stand the other and it just kept going and I began to wonder.
"Sorry... they have been like that ever since... you know... since you left us"
"Oh" I made a sound.
"It’s one thing or the other" she sighed deeply, slightly downhearted.
"Come on, let’s settle this now," Gideon said, plunging his paws forward for a punch.
I squatted and rubbed his head, running my hand on his fur. "Now now Gideon that’s enough... both of you," I said facing Puma.
"I’m here now so both of you should try to get along"
Gideon folded his arms and looked away, Puma looked away too. "Although it won’t be that easy will it?"
"Come on you two suck it up... we have important things to worry about, like getting our Guardian memories back!"
