Simulation Game: Crisis Management-Chapter 413 - 197: Into Hell (Part 2)
Bolton tilted his head, seemingly a bit confused.
"Mr. Yassen, is there an issue between these two? Mobile signal coverage relies on communication base stations, and the current ground cellular network only covers 10% of the Earth’s surface. In such barren wilderness, it’s impossible to have a base... Wait a minute!"
Halfway through his words, he noticed the well-dressed elite man among the passengers, holding up his phone and moving around under the sun. Suddenly realizing, he also pulled out his own phone.
"You mean, there’s no satellite signal?"
"Correct! Many phones now support satellite communication mode, capable of sending SOS distress messages and locations to ground rescue organizations, with satellite coverage being very broad."
Actually, last week when the plane was rapidly descending and the passengers’ phones collectively lost signal, Gu Ji had found it suspicious.
This time, after learning that only the avionics systems—communication, radar, and navigation—failed, he started wondering if these two incidents could be related.
After all, whether it’s aviation communication, mobile communication, or radar positioning, they all utilize radio technology.
If one disrupts the radio signal receiving electronic device or circuitry, it can cause all three to go down simultaneously.
"So, I suspect a terrorist might have used a similar device to an EMP electromagnetic pulse weapon."
EMP electromagnetic pulses are not some kind of black technology and can be found almost everywhere. Lightning is one example, along with explosions, conduit effects, or electrical sparks. Just removing the head from a bug zapper and connecting an induction coil can create a simple EMP device.
This device poses no threat to living beings and buildings but can instantly destroy any unprotected electronics and anything connected to electrical wires, like electronic devices and microchips, and can also momentarily disrupt communications.
"If it really were an EMP, the avionics of the entire plane should’ve been wiped out. I suspect it’s more likely HPMW high-power microwave, which offers stronger directionality and controllability than EMP!"
Bolton frowned, "So just now you didn’t reveal the exact location because you suspect there might be a terrorist accomplice among the passengers?"
"Not just the passengers, even the crew is suspicious."
Gu Ji glanced at him. In fact, he originally suspected Bolton as well, considering the only person who could have prolonged close contact with the captain was the co-pilot. "In a while, you go check the avionics, I’ll investigate that dead thug, if he has such a device on him, then..."
"I understand!"
Bolton’s pupils slightly dilated, naturally aware of the severity of the situation.
Right now, they couldn’t contact the airline and had already stumbled into this dangerous zone on the border of Sinaloa State, Mexico. If the thug truly had accomplices, they could leave a message for the drug traffickers at any moment, thus hijacking the plane along with its passengers!
In November, the weather in Mexico was gradually cooling down.
Although it was noon, the perceived temperature was only around thirty degrees. However, backed up against the forest, the air was full of humid moisture, which felt stifling.
During this time, Betty had provided basic treatment to Bolton’s wound. As a crew member, they’d all been trained in first aid.
Gu Ji was leaning against a tree trunk, relatively far from the gathering area of the passengers, allowing him to observe everyone’s expressions and movements.
Most passengers sat under the shade, idly plucking at the grass, while some continuously checked their phones for a signal. There were even a few individuals occasionally glancing at the plane, uncertain if they were hungry or worried about their luggage.
Just then, a young, lively figure appeared before him, it was the freckled girl named Chloe.
He slightly turned his body, letting his left hand naturally hang in a vaguely police-style reverse grip stance.
"Hey! Uncle Yassen, do you remember me?"
"Do you have something to discuss?"
Chloe approached him enthusiastically, yet didn’t expect that Gu Ji only raised an eyebrow, not reciprocating her friendliness.
"Why are you so harsh with me? Can’t I come to you for no reason?"
Chloe quickly adopted a coquettish demeanor, slowly circling around Gu Ji while swaying her sexy hips, fully flaunting her bare waist and her long, alluring legs.
Not many men could resist such a temptation from her.
Yet, as Chloe moved, Gu Ji subtly adjusted his position, never exposing his back.
After a full circle, Chloe couldn’t get her arms around Gu Ji’s neck.
"Uncle Yassen, thank you for saving me twice, who knows when rescue will arrive. Can you keep protecting me?" In a moment of urgency, she tried to grab his arm.
Gu Ji stepped back, dodging.
"I can’t look after everyone, and I’ll head out to find a signal once I check the plane."
"Can you take me with you, just the two of us!"
When Chloe said these words, she deliberately emphasized the last few words and even licked her lips.
"If you’re not afraid of wild beasts or insects, sure."
"Wild beasts? Well, maybe I should pass..."
Upon hearing about possible beasts in the jungle, Chloe instantly turned pale with fear, leaving a quick remark before hastily walking away.
Bolton walked over with a hearty laugh, displaying a knowing look that all men understood.
"Mr. Yassen, it seems you’re not into this type of girl. If you wanted just now, you could’ve easily hooked this young, fiery woman!"
"I’m not in the mood for these things right now."
