Simulation Game: Crisis Management-Chapter 418 - 198: Sinaloa Group (Part 3)
But now Gu Ji only has a Glock 17-4 in hand, with an effective range of 50 meters.
Considering shooting accuracy and concealment, he decided to let Betty and Riddle walk ahead, while he stayed behind, maintaining a 30-meter distance.
"Mr. Yassen, please don’t abandon us!"
"Don’t worry, if I really wanted to leave you, I would have done so long ago!"
Gu Ji reassured Riddle one last time.
Then, the two of them walked on either side of the dirt road, within the jungle.
As the reconnaissance team approached, the layout of the building area became clearer, five clay houses arranged in a "Z" shape, with two in front, one in the middle, and two at the back.
Betty and Riddle hadn’t discovered anything yet, so he could only use binoculars to carefully observe if there were any enemy vehicles and equipment hidden in the shadowed areas in front of the trees or buildings.
In particularly strong sunlight, the shadows needed special attention.
Often, a single vehicle can distinguish between civilians and criminals, especially in places like Mexico, where drug traffickers’ vehicles are usually modified.
As they continued walking, suddenly, Riddle squatted down abruptly.
Seeing this, Gu Ji and Betty quickly took cover as well. In the next second, Riddle found a tree trunk to hide behind and kept pointing to his right side.
Gu Ji picked up his binoculars and looked for a moment, indeed seeing a shadow flashing by.
Ever since gaining knowledge in navigation and infiltration, he has become very sensitive to distance and reconnaissance.
Distances like 100, 200, 400, and 800 are now instinctively etched in his mind, unlike police who usually operate within a hundred meters.
Judging by eye according to the visibility and size of the target:
At 50 meters, you can see the eyes as black dots;
At 100 meters, you can see facial features, along with weapons like rifles and machine guns;
At 200 meters, you can see the head and shoulder outlines;
At 300–400 meters, you can see the color of clothing and infantry weapons;
At 700–800 meters, you can only see movement like walking or running.
Gu Ji put down the binoculars; he only saw the target wearing a woven hat, a white shirt, gray pants, with dark brown skin, and he didn’t spot any weapons, the person was about 500 meters away.
He took out a Poison Needle Trap Mine from his bag and tucked it into his side pocket, to be used in case of emergency.
Then he raised his arm to shoulder height, palm down, moving downward within a 30-degree range. This tactical gesture meant "slow down" and was a reminder to keep moving.
Riddle indeed understood the tactical gesture.
He closed his eyes, gritted his teeth, and eventually followed Gu Ji’s command, proceeding ahead.
After advancing another 100 meters, Gu Ji saw from the shadows two gray-black creatures pulling a two-wheeled cart — they were donkeys!
And the silhouette they spotted earlier wearing the woven hat was indeed holding a sickle and appeared to be in farmer’s clothing.
Riddle finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Betty’s face lit up with joy, thinking that they were finally saved.
However, Gu Ji still warned them to stay hidden and cautious, as these could merely be servants of the drug traffickers.
Fortunately, until they reached the perimeter of the building area, no one discovered their presence.
Gu Ji looked toward the left hillside, where there was a large field, and at the peak, there was a particularly long metal pole, presumably a signal station.
At least, they could confirm there was mobile signal reception here.
He gestured for the team to gather next to him.
Betty hurried over.
"Mr. Yassen, is it safe now?"
"Not yet. Soon, you’ll stick close to me and move along the walls, listening to what’s being said inside..."
Gu Ji clutched his pistol, crouched low, and quickly darted from the jungle, hiding in the shadow along the wall. Betty and Riddle soon followed.
The three of them arrived at the doorway of the clay house by following the wall.
There happened to be people conversing in the yard.
He had only studied foreign languages with Ding Lan for a month. In Central American countries like Mexico, Guatemala, and Panama City, they mainly spoke Spanish. He only knew a dozen or so basic words, so he looked at Betty, "What are they saying...?"
"It seems like they’re talking about too many weeds in the field and the yield."
"Looks like it’s just an ordinary village."
Riddle also thought it seemed safe here.
Gu Ji squinted, straightened up, and knocked on the door.
A voice from the courtyard quietly asked, "¿Quién eres?" (Who are you?), but before he could respond, Betty excitedly started chattering a rapid string of Spanish, which he completely couldn’t understand.
Gu Ji raised an eyebrow.
"What did you say?"
"I told them we’re an outdoor expedition team, got lost, our phones died, and we’re hoping to use their phone."
Betty, being the seasoned cabin chief, was indeed experienced.
The door opened from the inside, revealing the Mexican elder they’d scouted earlier, wearing a woven hat, warmly inviting the three of them in.
A little while later, a plump woman in a pink robe came out of the house, carrying a black phone.
Betty thanked the two and quickly dialed a number from memory.
Gu Ji couldn’t understand Spanish.
"You stay here and report the situation. Make sure the airline gets support from the Mexican government and the U.S. Government. It’s best if the DEA’s FAST overseas deployment advisory and support team comes, the sooner the better!"
Leaving those words, Gu Ji departed from the yard and started observing other farmers along the dirt road.
From its name, FAST might not seem related to special forces, police, or anything like that, but don’t be fooled. This unit is undoubtedly one of the top violent forces within the U.S. federal system. They’re basically trained by instructors responsible for the Seal Team and Green Berets, with backing from the United States Department of Defense, making them one of the elite special forces specialized in cross-border drug enforcement.
If the United States Drug Enforcement Administration could send them over, passengers would be at least halfway safe.
Gu Ji walked to the back of the last row of houses, picked up binoculars, and glanced at the hillside. There seemed to be people working at the top, but as he shifted his gaze to the crops, something felt off. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
He put down the binoculars, and with a scan of his peripheral vision, he noticed a curly-haired woman sneaking a look at him through a back window of the clay house.
Gu Ji whipped around, scaring her off, disappearing immediately.
Hiss...
Something’s not right!!
