Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon-Chapter 593 - 592: Axe Intent
Dante’s scream resounded across the land around the Stairs of Ascension as his head was engulfed by one of the most beautiful, unique, and mysterious flames in existence.
Corey’s pure white eyes remained cold and indifferent as he burnt Dante’s head and neck with Dreamfire while using two of his forbidden skills, Soul Entropy and Painful Echo.
"ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!! SMILE REAPERRRR!!! I CURSE YOU! I CURSE YOU! YOU’VE NOT SEEN THE LAST OF ME YOU ABOMINATION!!!"
Dante cursed out loud with unfathomable rage, pain, and hate as the insides of his skull could be seen by all.
"Curses don’t work on me, ant." Corey replied with a slow, calm, and indifferent voice as he stared at Dante’s rage-filled expression. A second later, his scream stopped, and a few seconds later, Corey also stopped.
He removed his hand from Dante’s skull, and the moment he did, Dante’s corpse fell to the ground with a thud. Corey gazed at Dante’s corpse with an emotionless and indifferent expression, and four seconds later, Dante’s corpse turned into motes of light as he slowly vanished.
When Corey saw this, he nodded, and then he pulled Dante’s sword from his chest which was a Genesis Armament. The Genesis Armament was similar to the sword he took from Dante in the Underworld, and Corey could not help but wonder if Dante was obsessed with the sword for a particular reason, but he did not care.
"I still don’t know how he was able to avoid my senses as a Tier 4. Was it a skill or an item? It’s not his Genesis Armament since I don’t see any evasive rune on the Genesis Armament."
Corey furrowed his brows deeply as he turned the crimson sword to observe it. Seeing nothing of interest in it, Corey sent it into the storage space of his Tri-Pupil Eye.
"I could have asked him to tell me how he followed me, but I didn’t want to give such a man an opportunity to do something that’ll make things more difficult, annoying, or dangerous for me."
Corey sighed, and then he looked at the bleeding hole in his chest.
When Dante pierced his chest, a Tier 5 mystic poison that could paralyze Tier 5s and instantly paralyze Tier 4s and below entered his blood stream.
Corey was a Poison Warlock and his Poison Resistance was Level 4, and by all means, he should not be able to move under the effects of a Tier 5 mystic paralysis poison. A level 4 Poison Resistance means that any Tier 4 poison and below would have no effect on him, but Tier 5 and above would.

However, at that moment, Corey learnt that his Poison Infinity Crystal was absorbing the poison, thereby making him immune to that particular poison.
Corey was surprised by this, and he realized that he had not been focusing on poisons and his first ever infinity crystal enough.
Because it was just a Tier 5 poison and Corey already had a Level 4 poison resistance, the Poison Infinity Crystal was able to absorb the poison with ease, and this allowed Corey to react to Dante’s attack on time.
The hole in Corey’s chest closed at a visible pace, and Corey shifted his focus to his arm. More specifically, his karmic luck value.
100.01 → 97.52
’A decrease of 2.49?’
A pondering light flashed in Corey’s eyes when he saw the decrease in his luck, and although he knew why, he was trying to understand the system that was being used in the addition and reduction and karmic luck.
’When Dante was about to stab me, I couldn’t react to it at all. It was way too sudden and way too fast. My luck reduced, and then I placed my foot on the first step of the Stairs of Ascension and I suddenly felt a massive pressure on my mind which made my body jerk. The sudden jerk prevented the sword from accurately piercing my heart, and I was saved as a result.’
’It’s quite terrifying how the heavens can even make such a small thing to save a Blessed’s life.’
Corey shook his head slightly, and then he shifted his gaze and attention to the Stairs of Ascension in front of him.
’Although I knew it was not going to be easy, what was that massive pressure I felt in my mind?’ Corey frowned in thought. After a few seconds, he made a decision.
He climbed on the first step of the Stairs of Ascension, and this time around, his entire body was on the first step, not just a foot.
And this time around, he felt every bit of the pressure hit his mind. Corey groaned with veins popping out of his forehead, and then he cursed out softly.
"Damn it. If the pressure from the first floor is already this difficult? How am I to reach the topmost floor?"
Corey mumbled with a frown, and then he looked up. When he did, his expression changed because he noticed a change in the Stairs of Ascension.
The steps were no longer as massive as they used to be, and each step was now the size of normal stairs. When Corey saw this, he was surprised and baffled.
"Well, that’s suprising."
Although the pressure affecting his mind was heavy and immense, he could still move despite it. He approached the second step, and then he climbed it.
The moment he did, a pressure that was three times as powerful as the previous one bombarded Corey’s mind, and Corey paused. He frowned deeply as he realized that he could not continue like this. Experience new tales on novelbuddy
If the second step was this difficult, then how was he to reach the end of the Stairs of Ascension?
’And there was no information on the Stairs of Ascension because it’s only Ascendants that are allowed to climb it, and any Ascendant that wants to climb the Stairs of Ascension knows where to get information on the Stairs of Ascension from.’
Corey frowned in thought, and then he looked up.
’The pressure is extremely strange because it’s not acting on my body. It’s not acting on my soul or my mind, but on a completely different part of my mind. It’s something I feel like I can’t understand but I can understand at the same time.’
’What the hell is this? Should I give up and think of another way?’
Just as Corey had this thought, Nina’s voice resounded in his mind.
