Sinner System-Chapter 465: The Sentinels (Part 11)
Point-of-View: Ariella Velle
———————————————————————————
I sprinted across the ground as fast as I could, before getting blown off my feet as a blast of water slammed onto the ground behind me, launching me forward.
I managed to land on my palms before flipping myself onto my feet and racing away as dozens of tendrils chased after me, firing out Negative Energy blasts behind myself to keep them at bay.
My time limit with Descent is already up, and he’s just toying with me now. He’s trying to wear me down completely before coming in for the finishing blow...
I hurled a Negative Energy slash towards him, before twisting my body across as he fired a piercing beam of water, shooting through the right side of my stomach as he blocked my slash with a wall of slime.
"You realize this is futile, don’t you?" He called out, as he fired a swirling blast of water towards my head, which I just barely evaded as I ducked, the blast shooting over the top of my head.
"I won’t give up that easily...even if my efforts are pointless, I’ll keep fighting to my last breath!" I shot back, before firing a drilling blast of Negative Energy towards him.
"Nothing but delaying the inevitable. You realize that I don’t even need to evade any of your attacks, don’t you?" He responded, before adding as he swiftly stepped across to avoid my blast, "It is simply a minor inconvenience to have to keep repairing my body, but you-..."
"You really like the sound of your own voice, don’t you?" I cut him off, before unleashing a massive, swirling beam of Negative Energy towards him, carving out a trail across the ground as it barreled towards him with immense force.
I grimaced as I spotted him slithering across to the left of the beam, missing a chunk of his back, which promptly grew back before he fired out a piercing beam of water towards me.
The beam burst through my right elbow as I leapt across to my left, my gaze darting around as I unleashed an eruption of Negative Energy around me as several tendrils surrounded and converged in towards me. I blew them away and launched myself back with a burst of Negative Energy as a slashing wave of water came shooting towards me, leaping out of its range.
I let out a shaky gasp as my vision blurred slightly, struggling to catch my breath...he was attacking so relentlessly, I had to keep moving while also launching my own attacks and straining my Mana flow in the process, further draining my stamina.
I tensed as I collapsed onto one knee, the glow of Blaze Ignition: Flare flickering before fading away, beads of sweat pouring down my face and dripping onto the dirt.
"Ah, there we go, it seems you’ve finally reached your limit. Now, how should I kill you? I stuffed the first one full of my slime and then forced it out all over his body in the form of spikes, it would be boring to kill you the same way.
Oh, I know...I shall keep filling you with water, until your body ruptures and explodes. Yes, that should be quite interesting to witness," He remarked, as he began to approach me.
There are several dark spots in my vision, my heart is pounding like a drum, my hair is matted down and my armor is sticking to my skin, it’s been a while since I’ve felt this drained during a fight.
"You really...you really are powerful. Easily the strongest that I...that I’ve ever...ever encountered. But...," I uttered, as I shakily got back onto my feet, stumbling slightly.
My body feels so sluggish and heavy...with how immense my stamina reserves had grown, I had to exert a lot of effort to wear it down...
"All that effort, just to stand. Do not bother...what possible hope do you think you have in your current state? This battle is over, human."
"Yeah...I agree. It’s over. It probably won’t last long, but...right now, I feel like I can pull it off..."
"What are you-...?" He began in confusion.
"[Blaze Ignition:...]," I chanted, the air around me shimmering intensely as the temperature spiked sharply, before I added, "[...Supernova]."

"Wh-Wha...?" Gasped Viscous in shock.
"Like I said. It’s over."
"N-No, this...this is...impossible...g-give...give it back...!" He uttered shakily, turning around and reaching out towards me, before he began to fall apart, as I held his Core in my fist, feeling it crack as I unleashed devastating, pressurized bursts of flames inside my fist.
My entire body was shrouded in a cloak of intense, blazing flames, a trail of molten dirt left in my wake. I was standing in a molten puddle, my feet steadily sinking in.
I felt several twinges of pain in my hand from the repelling force of his Personalis Arma, before I felt his Core shatter inside it as I unleashed another fiery burst.
"Bye, now," I remarked, stepping out of the molten puddle as the flames around me faded away, before I tossed his Core away.
"D-Damn...you...," He responded in a quiet, fading whisper, before collapsing into a limp puddle of sludge, the small sphere of his Personalis Arma reverting into a rod, a pile of small shards of what used to be his Core laying around it.
I stumbled back and collapsed onto one knee, shuddering slightly as I felt a chill, my body feeling both hot and cold at the same time.
My new Spell...Blaze Ignition: Supernova, it blankets my entire body in a blazing cloak of flames, and boosts my power like crazy.
After Kai reached his full power, I wanted to find a way to get more powerful myself, even if for just a short time.
And this is the result of my efforts to push Blaze Ignition past Flare. For some reason, it’s easier to trigger when I’m low on stamina, I think it lasted about two seconds just now...which is a new record for me.
It also consumes a ton of Mana, I had about half my Mana reserves left when I activated it, and those two seconds were enough to almost completely...drain-...c-crap, I think I’m falling, I have absolutely no strength left-...huh?
As I braced myself to collapse onto the ground, someone caught me before I could fall, a familiar grasp around me...this warm presence, this scent, I’d know it anywhere... 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"Kai...that you? Would’ve been real nice if you’d shown up just a little bit sooner...," I chuckled with a wry smile, as I opened my eyes and met his gaze.
