Sinner System-Chapter 487: Long Way to Go
"Ants, huh?" I sighed, as a swarm of Giant Ants and Giant Flying Ants came charging towards us, barely ten seconds after we entered the Dungeon.
Looks like we’ve got muddy terrain, this is going to be a pain.
"<Allow me to kick us off, Chief>," Volunteered Ira, stepping forward and raising his hands in front of himself, a concentrated glow of Ether gleaming around his palms.
A devastating, drilling blast of Ether erupted forth, engulfing the incoming Monsters and vaporizing them as the blast barreled forward, several shards of their exoskeletons flying out and hitting the walls.
As the beam petered out, more Monsters soon came into sight, rushing in towards us.
"<Command: Don’t Move>," I chanted, targeting those of them that were up front, creating a blockage to stall the rest. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
I unleashed a fierce volley of Negative Energy blasts, as Acedia backed me up with a barrage of intense lightning bolts, while Ira fired out several Ether slashes, slicing the Monsters apart.
As we continued blasting the Giant Ants and Giant Flying Ants, Soldier Ants soon began coming into sight, the wave of Monsters growing more intense.
Firing off Magical attacks ceaselessly puts a strain on our Mana flow, so we’re each taking short breaks in turns instead of constantly attacking all at once...but the longer this goes on, the less we can afford that luxury, the Monsters are flooding through with much greater intensity.
"Alright, guys...we’re pushing through to the next floor. The corpses are starting to pile up too high," I remarked, as the Soldier Ants used the mounds of corpses as cover.
"<Understood. We’ll follow your lead, Chief>."
"<Yeah, what he said>."
"Okay, then...<Enrage>, <Descent>," I chanted, before rushing forward, unleashing devastating blasts of Negative Energy to blow away the swarm of Monsters ahead of me.
Blasts of lighting and Ether came shooting out from behind me, targeting the stragglers as I barreled forward, before putting on a sharp burst of speed as the tunnel leading up to the next floor came into sight.
As I flew into the tunnel, I unleashed Obliterate at sixty percent, wiping out the Monsters before me, before activating Void and forming a black hole in front of myself, swallowing up the Monsters through the tunnel before bursting out into the second floor, whipping my left arm across and unleashing a devastating burst of Negative Energy, blasting away the Monsters gathered in front of the tunnel.
I let out a slow exhale and deactivated my power boosts as I landed, before I shot forward. I weaved around and slashed at the necks of the Giant Ants, severing their heads before they could react, before lunging towards a Soldier Ant and driving my blade into the middle of its torso, piercing its Core before yanking my blade out as another one leapt in towards me from the left.
I drove my left arm out, slamming my palm against the middle of its torso and unleashing Mana Pulse, deep cracks rapidly spreading out across its exoskeleton as I fatally injured it.
I swiftly sprang back as several Soldier Ants charged in towards me, grabbing the top of one’s head as it sprang at me, before its eyes erupted as I unleashed Mana Pulse again.
My gaze darted across to either side, before glancing above, as Giant Ants skittered towards me from the sides, Giant Flying Ants and Soldier Ants swooping down from above, and several more rushing in from straight ahead.
I launched myself back with a sharp burst of Negative Energy, before unleashing a devastating wave of Negative Energy with a rapid swung of my left arm, blowing away several of the Monsters.
I backed away towards the tunnel while continuing to fire out more Negative Energy blasts, right as Ira and Acedia emerged and rejoined me, backing me up.
I let them take over and took a moment to catch my breath as we thinned out the Monsters ahead of us, only for several more to come into sight almost immediately.
These waves really do feel endless, we’re only just getting started.
Since I have more Calamity Level raids after this, I have no choice but to conserve my power boosts as much as possible, I’ve only been using them in short bursts.
Well, I’ve been a lot less conservative with Enrage, since my cooldown with it now is only half an hour, I pretty much go all out with it towards the end of each of these raids.
But since Descent has a twenty-four hour cooldown, I’ve been using it very sparingly.
I also have Arouse as an option, but I haven’t really used it all that much. It gives me the option of either a twenty percent boost for fifteen minutes, or a ten percent boost for thirty minutes, but it’s hard to keep my mind sharp and ignoring the strong sense of arousal that wells up when I activate it, so yeah, I’ve kinda shelved it.
"<This is such a pain. They just keep coming>," Acedia sighed wistfully.
"Yeah...in hindsight, maybe we should’ve tried to wipe out more Monsters when we were trapped in that world, while we had the chance," I replied wryly, before chanting and activating Command, forcing a few dozen of the Monsters to attack their own.
"<Monsters are an infestation, you have to carve out the entire disease to truly do away with it, otherwise it’ll just grow back. Even if we had eliminated a lot more of them, it would have only delayed this...the Demon Lord would simply have waited longer to make his move>," Pointed out Ira, before letting out a roar of exertion as he unleashed a devastating, shredding blast of Ether, tearing dozens of the Monsters to shreds.
"Yeah, I suppose you’ve got a point there. Alright, looks like they’re ramping up the numbers again, let’s focus up. We’ve still got a long way to go," I remarked, as another wave of Monsters came into sight up ahead...
