Sinner System-Chapter 492: Taking it Easy
"I needed this...," Sighed Rex, as he took a puff of a joint and exhaled through his nostrils, slumping against the beanbag as he stared up at the ceiling.
"Agreed. Though, you seem to be of a different opinion, Ciel," I remarked, as I glanced at her.
"Yeah...I was having a good time. Since these new Dungeons are indestructible, not to mention the massive waves of Monsters in them, I had full license to cut loose," She replied, a disappointed look on her face.
It was around 3 PM right now, we’d called Rex and Ciel over to hang out, they joined us for lunch, and we were currently chilling in the rec room. We were just taking it easy, getting stoned and playing Uno.
"Well, from what we heard, yours is one of only three Ace parties that hasn’t lost any members, so I guess you going all out worked out," Responded Aria with a wry smile, as she played a green seven.
"She really wasn’t holding back at all. The rest of the party, except me, had to hang back almost the entire time. While there was no risk of the Dungeons collapsing, the shockwaves from her explosions were pretty strong," Rex explained dryly.
"You know, I noticed this a while ago, but...you’re a lot more talkative when Ciel is around. When you’re by yourself, you tend to space out a lot more," I mused thoughtfully.
"Huh, now that you mention it, yeah, that’s true," Nodded Aria in fascination.
"Aw, that’s really nice to hear," Grinned Ciel, as she leaned over and bumped her shoulder against his, before giving him a kiss on the cheek.
"I mean...I kinda have to be more switched on when you’re around, there’s no telling what you might do," He muttered in response.
"Wha-...hey, come on, it’s not like I’d go around blasting people out in public or whatever. I mean, okay, I do get those intrusive thoughts sometimes, but I’ve never acted on them," Huffed Ciel indignantly.
"Yet."
"Hmph."
"Uno," I spoke up, as I set a red five onto the pile.
"Oh, crap. Alright, we gotta stop him from winning again...hope you guys can stack this, plus two," Declared Ciel, as she played a red plus two card.
"Yeah, I can," Nodded Rex, as he tossed a blue plus two onto the table.
"Sorry, Kai...plus four," Smiled Aria, before adding as she played the card, "Oh, Uno! And I change the color to yellow."
"Damn it," I sighed, reluctantly drawing eight cards and adding them to my hand.
I was in the lead, and now I’ve got the most cards in my hand. Ciel’s got three, Rex has four, and Aria’s down to her last one.
"My turn...and now, we need to stop Ariella. Plus two!" Exclaimed Ciel, as she played a yellow plus two.
"Hm...I was hoping to hold onto this, but I guess I don’t have a choice," Sighed Rex, as he played a plus four and added, "I’ll change the color to blue."
"Nice try, guys...but I’ve already won!" Declared Aria, as she smacked a plus four of her own on top of Rex’s.
"Uh-oh," Muttered Ciel, as she glanced at me.
"Heh, this is gonna be rough for you...plus four," I smirked, adding as I met her gaze, "I believe that’s fourteen cards."
"Damn it, no...," She groaned, before reaching for the deck and drawing her cards.
"No, that was thirteen, take one more," Remarked Rex, earning a pouting glare from his girlfriend.
"Come on, you could’ve just kept quiet."
"I mean, if he hadn’t said anything, I definitely would have," I responded with a wry smile.
"My turn, right? What’s the color?" Rex asked me, as he glanced at his hand.
"Hm? Oh, right, I played the last plus four...okay, let’s go with red," I decided after glancing at my hand.
I have eight cards, Ciel has sixteen and Rex has three.
"Damn it, I pass," Sighed Rex, drawing a card from the deck.
"Okay, then, I’ll play this," I remarked, setting a red eight down.
"I don’t think I can win anymore, so I’m just gonna try to screw you over," Huffed Ciel, playing a yellow eight.
"That works for me," Responded Rex, playing a yellow six.
"And that works for me," I grinned, as I played a red six.
"I pick this one," Remarked Ciel, as she tossed out a red two.
"Oh, I can work with that," Nodded Rex, playing a green two.
"Yeah, I’m changing it back to red," I declared as I played a wild card, before adding with a smirk, "You forgot to say Uno, so draw two."
"...shit," Sighed Rex, before adding two cards from the deck to his hand.
"I’ll go...with this," Decided Ciel, as she added a red three.
"Okay," Nodded Rex, as he played a red seven.
Alright, he’s back down to two cards again, I’ve got five and Ciel has thirteen.
"Heh, look at you guys, fighting so hard for second place," Grinned Aria teasingly, munching on some chips.
"Didn’t you get third place in our first game?" I reminded her, before playing a red skip as she lightly smacked my shoulder.
"Oh, come on," Sighed Ciel in exasperation.
"You have way too many reds," Sighed Rex, drawing a card from the deck as he glanced at his hand.
"That was my last one, actually," I replied, as I played a blue skip.
"Hey, stop skipping me!"
"Well, at least I can play something," Muttered Rex, as he set a blue five down.
"Plus two," I declared, as I played a blue plus two.
"Hmph, plus two," Huffed Ciel, playing a yellow one.
"Same," Responded Rex, adding a green one to the stack.
"Aaand, plus four, I’ll change the color to red...also, Uno," I smirked, as I played a plus four.
"That’s...ten cards for you," Remarked Rex, as he glanced at Ciel.
"Damn it," She groaned, drawing ten cards.
"And with that, I win," I grinned, as I played a wild card and raised my arms triumphantly, before adding, "Oh, and I guess I’ll change to color to...I don’t know, blue? Doesn’t really matter to me anymore."
