Sir, Please Sign Here to Get a Divorce-Chapter 114: Miss Serena, Be My Girlfriend
’Didn’t Gabriel Galloway drop out of school?’
’How did he add me?’
Since she couldn’t remember any of the unhappy events from her past, Serena Yardley also had no memory of how Gabriel Galloway and a man named Quentin Montgomery had caused her miscarriage.
This time, she accepted his friend request without hesitation.
He immediately sent a message.
Gabriel Galloway: [Serena, is now a good time to talk?]
Serena glanced at the man driving. She remembered that Gabriel Galloway used to like her and had even pursued her. Now that she was a married woman, she felt it was better to limit her contact with other men.
Serena Yardley: [It’s not a good time. If you have something to say, just text me.]
Gabriel Galloway: [I’m sorry for what happened before. I’d like to apologize to you in person.]
Serena Yardley: [??? What happened before?]
Gabriel Galloway froze.
’Serena doesn’t know what I’m talking about?’
He had been wracked with guilt ever since her miscarriage, but Ethan Yardley’s men had beaten him half to death and dumped him in the wilderness.
If his family’s bodyguards hadn’t found him by tracking the GPS on him, he’d probably be dead by now.
Afterward, he was sent home and remained in a coma at the hospital for over half a month before finally waking up.
When he woke up, his family restricted his freedom, and he had only just managed to escape.
When Gabriel didn’t reply right away, Serena messaged him again.
Serena Yardley: [I don’t know what you’re talking about, and I don’t care how you added me. I don’t want to see you, so don’t contact me again in the future.]
Serena Yardley: [That’s all. I’m a little busy.]
"Who are you chatting with?"
Ethan Yardley caught her movements out of the corner of his eye and asked, displeased.
Feeling a little guilty, Serena hurriedly deleted the chat history and put her phone away.
"My roommate! You won’t let me live on campus, and she really misses me."
Ethan didn’t seem to mind. With one hand on the steering wheel, he reached his other hand out toward Serena. "Give me your hand."
"What for?"
"Give it to me."
Serena didn’t know what he was going to do, so she placed her hand in his large palm.
To her surprise, he just kept holding it and didn’t let go.
Serena reminded him, "I’m pretty sure driving like this is a traffic violation." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Ethan remained silent, driving quite steadily with just one hand on the wheel.
Serena stopped bothering with him. She leaned to one side, yawned, and feigned sleep.
After they arrived at The Sovereign Villa, she hurried off to find Nina Thorne. Ethan didn’t follow her; instead, he made a trip to the hospital.
When Serena arrived, Nina Thorne was in the living room, discussing her divorce with a lawyer.
She stood at a distance, waiting for them to finish before slowly walking over.
"Serena, you’re here."
Nina saw the lawyer off and turned to Serena.
Serena nodded, walked over, and sat down. "Nina, are you really getting a divorce?"
Nina let out a cold laugh, answering her question with one of her own. "Serena, do you think I shouldn’t?"
"No, that’s not it. I just feel that this is so unfair to you and Leo."
"Not getting a divorce—*that* would be what’s truly unfair."
As if she had finally come to terms with it, Nina was no longer sad. She told Serena:
"Serena, you’re still young, so there are some things you don’t understand. Or maybe I should say, you can’t truly appreciate what a child means to a mother.
Quinn Gardner crossed a line with me. Even if I truly have feelings for him, I will absolutely not compromise my principles just to stay with him."
He didn’t just break her heart; he hurt her child.
Why would I stay with a man like that? Keep him around for the holidays?
Serena understood. She hadn’t come to talk Nina out of it. Then, a thought occurred to her, and she asked:
"So what’s your plan for the divorce? What if the Grant Family tries to fight you for custody?"
Nina laughed again. "Are they even worthy?"
She’s the one who gave birth to him, and she’s the one who raised him all by herself.
Besides, her child is very smart and has the right to choose for himself. Even if Quinn Gardner wanted to fight her, he wouldn’t win.
"Mommy..."
A child’s sweet voice called out from nearby.
Nina looked over and saw the nanny leading her son in from the backyard. She waved. "Come here, Leo. Let me introduce you to this young lady."
The little boy ran over and threw himself into his mother’s arms, looking at Serena curiously with his big, bright eyes.
Serena looked back at him.
Although they had met before, the little guy still didn’t know who this young lady was.
Of course, he could never have imagined that one day, this beautiful young lady would become his mother-in-law.
"Say hi to... Serena. No, wait. You should call her Miss Serena."
Nina looked at Serena and smiled. "He could have just called you by your name, but since you’re married, ’Miss Serena’ is more appropriate, don’t you think?"
Serena laughed along. "He should call me that anyway. Come here, Leo, let me give you a hug."
Leo Thorne approached Serena without a hint of shyness. A smile graced his fair, handsome little face as he said sincerely:
"Miss Serena, you’re so pretty."
Serena was surprised by how smooth the little guy was. She picked him up, set him on her lap, and reached out to pinch his soft little cheek.
"Leo is very handsome, too."
"Then do you like guys like me, Miss Serena?"
The little guy blinked his big eyes. His face looked innocent, but his eyes glinted with mischief.
Serena answered from the heart, "Of course I do! Who doesn’t like cute kids?"
"Then when I grow up, how about you be my girlfriend, Miss Serena?"
the little guy asked unabashedly.
Hearing this, Serena looked at Nina in astonishment.
Nina’s face fell as she chided her son. "Leo Thorne, you’ll flirt with anyone, won’t you?"
At that, the little guy immediately put on a pitiful look. "But I just like Miss Serena."
"You’re calling her ’Miss Serena.’ Can you ask a ’Miss’ to be your girlfriend?"
Leo retorted, "Why not? People on the internet are always saying, ’Hey, sugar mommy, I don’t want to struggle anymore. Will you take care of me? I’m super cute and super sweet~~’"
Nina Thorne: "..."
Serena Yardley: "..."
Ahem. They could hardly believe a five-year-old child could say such things.
It seemed those short videos online were a truly corrupting influence.
Nina was so angry she wanted to spank her son.
Serena laughed awkwardly before mercilessly crushing the little boy’s dream.
"Oh, Leo, I’m sorry, but I already have a husband."
Leo’s innocent little face crumpled. He pouted at Serena, feigning a look of utter heartbreak.
"Oh, is that so? What a shame."
"I think it’s a shame, too."
Finding the little guy absolutely adorable, Serena couldn’t resist pinching his handsome little face again. She even took out her phone to take selfies with him.
Seeing the two of them getting along so well, Nina stood up and said:
"Serena, can you watch him for me? I’ll go make you two something delicious."
Serena looked embarrassed. "You’re going to cook yourself? Oh, you don’t have to do that."
"If I’m idle, my mind starts to wander. It’s better to keep busy so I don’t get upset."
What had happened with Quinn Gardner was a bolt from the blue for her, but she couldn’t show weakness, let alone fall into despair.
She had a son to protect, so she could only force herself to be strong.
Keeping busy was just a way to disguise her vulnerability.
