Sir, Please Sign Here to Get a Divorce-Chapter 158: Mr. Yardley, I’m Pregnant
Seeing Vivian Lynch, Serena Yardley felt a surge of annoyance.
’Didn’t that woman get a rich boyfriend and quit her job? What is she doing back here?’
Scowling, Serena Yardley walked over, oblivious to the fact that the handsome face of the man beside her had already turned cold and grim. She stood before Vivian Lynch and asked,
"What are you doing here?"
Vivian Lynch rose and nodded. "Miss Serena. Mr. Yardley."
"I... I went to the hospital to deliver medicine to my mom."
She sounded guilty as she spoke, not daring to lift her head.
She could feel it, too—the man’s gaze, which seemed ready to tear her to pieces.
’But she was already in for a penny, in for a pound. If she could just get another sum of money this time, she would disappear without a trace.’ 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"Now that you’ve delivered the medicine, you should leave. Don’t come here again unless it’s important."
Serena Yardley said coldly.
For some reason, just looking at this woman made her feel deeply uncomfortable.
It was repulsive.
Without lingering, and ignoring the man beside her, she headed upstairs.
After watching Serena disappear at the top of the stairs, a ruthless expression crossed Ethan Yardley’s face. He pulled out his phone, about to call someone to have Vivian Lynch dragged away.
Vivian Lynch slowly raised her head. Guessing what he was about to do, she quickly held out a pregnancy report to him.
"Mr. Yardley, I know I shouldn’t have come to you again, but... but I’m pregnant."
"I don’t know what to do, and I’m so scared. If my parents find out I’m pregnant out of wedlock, they’ll kill me."
Ethan Yardley...
Staring at the paper Vivian Lynch held out and listening to her words, he felt his world crumble in disbelief.
’Pregnant?’
’One time was all it took?’
He snatched the report. It did indeed have Vivian Lynch’s name, age, and how far along the pregnancy was.
Unable to accept this, he glared at her. "Come with me."
He strode out of the house, terrified that Serena might overhear or find out something.
A smile flickered in Vivian Lynch’s eyes as she hurried to follow him.
They quickly got into the car, and Ethan Yardley drove away from The Sovereign Villa as fast as he could.
The car finally screeched to a halt on a tree-lined street. He gripped the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles turned white.
His chiseled, handsome face was terrifyingly dark, and a frightening aura radiated from him.
"Why didn’t you take the pill?" he snarled.
His voice was laced with regret and fury.
Vivian Lynch knew that this older man had a soft spot and was easily moved to pity.
Having figured out his nature, she put on an extremely pitiable act.
"I didn’t know! It was my first time, and no one told me I needed to take a pill. If I hadn’t missed my period and gone to the hospital for a check-up, I would have never known I was pregnant."
"Mr. Yardley, what am I supposed to do now? I’m so scared."
She burst into tears, continuously wiping them away as she sat beside him.
Ethan Yardley couldn’t even bear to look at her. A painful tremor went through his chest.
After suppressing his fury for half a minute, he commanded, "Get it aborted. I’ll have someone take you to the hospital."
He took out his phone, ready to order someone to come.
Vivian Lynch quickly added,
"But I’m afraid I’ll run into someone I know, afraid they’ll find out... And I looked it up online. An abortion can do serious damage to your body."
She turned to look at him, her face a mask of tear-stained misery.
"Mr. Yardley, what if I can’t have children anymore after this? Can you guarantee that I’ll be able to get pregnant again someday, that I can still become a mother? If you can promise me that, then I’ll go through with the abortion."
Ethan Yardley...
He fell silent, his mind in a turmoil.
He couldn’t guarantee that.
It was just like with Sylvia Schuyler all those years ago. After her surgery, she was never able to have children again.
He had carried that guilt for a long time. Because of it, he had almost pushed away the people closest to him.
If something were to happen to Vivian Lynch during the procedure, that would be his responsibility as well.
He had already wronged her once; he couldn’t do it again.
Especially since she was only eighteen or nineteen.
At that moment, Ethan Yardley was tormented by guilt and conflict.
Vivian Lynch seized the opportunity to say,
"Mr. Yardley, what if... what if I just have the baby in secret? Don’t worry, I won’t let Miss Serena find out. You can send me somewhere nobody knows me."
"I’ll take good care of myself and the baby there. I promise I’ll never cause you any more trouble."
’She knew it. There was no way this man would let her have the baby. He’d feel guilty and definitely offer her a large sum of money to get an abortion.’
’And even if he did let her keep it, she could just "accidentally" have a miscarriage later. Problem solved.’
’As long as she got the money, she was willing to do anything.’
"Let me think about it."
Ethan Yardley hesitated.
He was not an irresponsible person.
But being responsible for Vivian Lynch meant wronging the one at home.
Yet, if he ignored Vivian Lynch, his conscience wouldn’t be clear.
After a moment’s thought, he asked, "Do you really want to have it?"
Vivian Lynch hadn’t expected him to turn the question back on her. Her eyes flickered for a second before she resumed sobbing.
"I don’t know... I’m just scared it will be bad for my body... scared I won’t be able to be a mother someday."
"I’m still so young... And I’m even more scared that my future husband will find out I had an abortion because of another man. He’ll leave me... What am I going to do...?" she wailed.
She lowered her head, crying even more heartbrokenly.
Ethan Yardley never once looked at her, his expression a mask of dark, tormented pain.
The sound of her crying only made him feel more hopelessly entangled.
He leaned back against his seat, brooding in silence for two minutes before finally speaking. "So you’re saying you want to have this child and never get married?"
Vivian Lynch shook her head, saying nothing and just continuing to cry.
Seeing her like this, Ethan couldn’t bring himself to be cruel to her.
He continued, "I’ll give you enough financial compensation to set you up for life. Will you get the abortion then?"
He turned his head to look at her.
Seeing how hard she was crying, he pulled a tissue from the console and handed it to her.
Vivian Lynch took the tissue and nodded. "Okay."
’Enough to set me up for life... just how much is that?’
’Her anticipation began to build.’
Ethan Yardley asked her, "How much do you want?"
"I don’t know."
She kept her head down, not daring to look at him. Though her crying had subsided, she continued to sob quietly.
Ethan Yardley didn’t hesitate. "I’ll start with fifty million. Give me your account number, and I’ll have someone transfer it to you shortly."
Vivian Lynch pulled out her phone, found the bank account number she had prepared in advance, and showed it to the man beside her.
Ethan Yardley glanced at her again. Seeing her looking so fragile and pitiable, just like Serena, made his heart ache.
After memorizing the account number, he said with immense guilt, "I’m sorry. I never meant to hurt you. I’ll arrange for someone to take you to the hospital tomorrow for the procedure."
Vivian Lynch nodded through her tears. "Okay."
"You can get out now. Don’t go to The Sovereign Villa again. If you need anything, call me directly."
"Okay."
Wiping her tears, Vivian Lynch pushed open the car door and got out.
Afraid Serena would get suspicious, Ethan Yardley sped away.
Left standing there, Vivian Lynch’s tear-stained face instantly broke into a brilliant, cunning smile.
’Rich people are so generous.’
’Fifty million without even batting an eye.’
’Her quick thinking to find a guy to sleep with and get pregnant had really paid off.’
