Sir, Please Sign Here to Get a Divorce-Chapter 88: Sylvia Schuyler Intentionally Approaches Serena Yardley
Serena Yardley truly hadn’t expected it. A powerful CEO, a prodigy born with a silver spoon.
And just because of something she said, he’d actually gone into the ocean late at night to catch fish.
This didn’t fit his innate, aloof, and distinguished persona at all.
Standing a short distance away, Serena Yardley wondered, ’Is he really the man I’m in love with?’
’Why would I fall for a man a full ten years older than me?’
Suddenly, her stomach churned, and the discomfort made her desperate for the restroom.
Serena Yardley quickly clutched her stomach and called out uncomfortably to the man in the ocean.
"Mister! Mister...!"
Ethan Yardley straightened up and looked over at Serena Yardley in the distance. "What’s wrong?"
"You carry on, I’m going to the restroom."
Ethan Yardley waved. "Go on, but don’t wander off."
"Okay."
Serena Yardley clutched her stomach and ran off.
It took her a while, but she finally found a restroom in a corner of the garden.
She was in such a hurry that she accidentally bumped into someone as she rushed inside.
Without getting a clear look at the person’s face, she quickly bent over in apology. "I’m so sorry, I didn’t do it on purpose."
The person she’d bumped into didn’t respond.
Serena Yardley slowly raised her head, her gaze landing on the woman in front of her, who was a good half a head taller.
Sylvia Schuyler was looking back at her.
Seeing the look of unfamiliarity on Serena Yardley’s face, the anxiety that had been gripping Sylvia’s heart finally subsided.
’Looks like she really doesn’t recognize me anymore.’
Snapping back to reality, Serena Yardley asked, "Do we know each other?"
’This woman is so strange. Why does she keep staring at me?’
Sylvia Schuyler smiled. "Yes, we do. You don’t remember me?"
Hearing her claim they knew each other, Serena Yardley’s eyes widened in surprise.
"We really know each other? Why don’t I have any memory of you?"
"I’m... Ethan Yardley’s secretary. My name is Sylvia Schuyler. Does that ring a bell?"
Sylvia Schuyler asked, watching her.
Serena Yardley...
’Ethan Yardley’s secretary, Sylvia Schuyler?’
She still couldn’t recall this person at all.
She gave an awkward laugh. "I’m sorry, I barely have any memory of Ethan Yardley himself, so I really can’t remember you."
"That’s all right. Something came up at the company, and I just came to deliver some documents for Mr. Yardley to sign. Were you about to use the restroom?
You go first. We can talk after you’re done."
With a frustrated frown, Serena Yardley entered a stall.
When she came out, she saw the woman was still there.
Sylvia Schuyler approached her. "Miss Yardley, could you please take me to Mr. Yardley’s room? I need to discuss a work matter with him."
Serena Yardley didn’t think much of it and led her toward the hotel. "Come with me."
Sylvia Schuyler followed behind Serena Yardley. With every step, a venomous look crossed her face as she fought the impulse to strangle her with her own hands.
’How could she be so damn lucky?’
’The first time, the miscarriage left her unharmed. The second time, her head was smashed open and she disappeared down the river for days, yet she was somehow found again.’
’And aside from amnesia, she’s completely unscathed.’
’Wouldn’t it be as easy as flipping my hand to strangle Serena Yardley right now?’
As she thought this, Sylvia Schuyler raised her hand, starting to reach for Serena Yardley’s neck.
But she saw the security cameras nearby and pulled her hand back.
’I’ll let Serena Yardley live a few more days.’
’As if I can’t handle a woman who has nothing.’
Serena Yardley brought Sylvia Schuyler to the room and told her, "You wait in here. Mister is outside; I’ll go get him."
Sylvia Schuyler nodded. "Thank you, Miss Yardley."
"You’re welcome."
Just as Serena Yardley stepped out of the hotel entrance, she saw Ethan Yardley walking over in his wet shorts, carrying a small bucket.
She stood there and watched him.
She couldn’t believe he’d actually managed to catch a fish for her at this hour.
Ethan Yardley had taken his shirt off before going in the water, so only his shorts were wet.
He strode up to Serena Yardley on his long, slender legs and handed her the small bucket. "For you. I also caught a few crabs and conches."
Serena Yardley took the bucket and was shocked to see there really were two fish inside.
Of course, more than shocked, she was incredulous.
"You cheated, didn’t you? You rushed back while I was in the restroom and had someone else get these for you, right?"
Ethan Yardley looked unfazed. "There are security cameras on the lighthouse. They should have recorded the details of me catching the fish. I’ll take you to see the footage tomorrow."
The temperature dropped quite a bit by the sea at night. Ethan Yardley raised a hand and touched the girl’s back.
"Come on, let’s go back to the room. I’ll have someone cook these for you to try tomorrow."
Serena Yardley decided to believe him for now.
Then she remembered something and said, "Your secretary came looking for you. She said she has some documents for you to sign."
At that, Ethan Yardley stopped in his tracks and looked at Serena Yardley. "What did you say?"
Serena Yardley looked back at him, frowning. "Your secretary. Her name is... Sylvia Schuyler, I think. Is she not your secretary?"
Syl...via...
’She actually hasn’t left yet.’
’Is the person in charge of this island completely useless? I told them to get rid of her, and they let her get right to Serena.’
An inexplicable rage flared in Ethan Yardley. He motioned to Serena Yardley. "Come on, I’ll go take a look."
"Okay."
Ethan Yardley handed the bucket to the front desk staff, telling them to take good care of the contents and have them cooked and sent to their room tomorrow.
In the elevator on the way back to the room, Ethan Yardley tentatively asked the person beside him.
"Do you remember a person named Sylvia Schuyler?"
Serena Yardley tilted her head, thought for a moment, and shook it. "I don’t know her."
Ethan Yardley...
’So Serena only forgot me and Sylvia Schuyler?’
’It’s better this way. I’ll get rid of Sylvia Schuyler as soon as possible.’
’This time, I absolutely will not let Serena shed another tear for me.’
The elevator was a bit small.
Bored, Serena Yardley’s gaze inadvertently drifted back to the older man beside her.
She wanted to see if his face had any wrinkles, any signs of aging, or any white hairs.
However, the man caught on to what she was doing.
He looked down at her, his expression gentle and his eyes full of affection. "If you want to look at me, Serena, you can do it openly."
He leaned closer, a hint of flirtation in his actions.
Serena Yardley’s cheeks flushed. She quickly averted her gaze in embarrassment and huffed, "Someone’s a little full of himself."
Ethan Yardley frowned. "Full of myself?"
"Huh?"
Serena Yardley froze, wanting to explain but finding herself at a loss for words.
’He was a CEO with a net worth in the hundreds of billions, stood at six-foot-two, and was devastatingly handsome.’
’He certainly had every reason to be confident.’
"Ahem, it’s nothing. I was just checking to see if, at thirty years old, you were balding or had a receding hairline."
Ethan Yardley, "???"
’Balding? A receding hairline?’
’Were those words that could ever be associated with him?’
’Besides, thirty isn’t even that old, is it?’
Out of habit, Ethan Yardley raised a hand and ruffled her hair. "Should I crouch down so you can get a better look?"
Serena Yardley awkwardly dodged his touch. "If you want to talk, then talk. Don’t get all handsy with me."
She didn’t fully trust him yet.
And it would take time for her to accept him.
Ethan Yardley also realized he had overstepped, and said in a low voice, "Sorry. Some things are just a habit."
The elevator arrived, and Serena Yardley bolted out. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Ethan Yardley followed close behind.
Serena Yardley stood at the door to her room and looked at the man who had followed her. "Your secretary is in my room. Go get her so you can discuss your work."
The mere thought of Sylvia Schuyler made Ethan Yardley furious.
He responded, "Okay."
He then opened the door with the face scanner and strode inside.
Sylvia Schuyler was sitting on the balcony, enjoying the sea breeze. When she saw the door open, she stood up and walked over.
"Mr. Yardley..."
Ethan Yardley’s face was grim, his gaze icy as he looked at Sylvia Schuyler. "Get out."
