-xXx-
-- Swooosh!
Among the trees, a white fox ran at high speed, dodging the trees and plants in its path with great grace and ease.
On the fox’s back, a Slime larger than itself clung easily, as if it were a natural part of its body.
As she ran, Lisa used the sensation of speed to ignore the thought that there was a man riding on her back, focusing all her attention on running as fast as possible, wanting to reach her goal quickly and break free.
Lohan, on the other hand, was elated by this sensation.
Although he could run at a speed close to his current one if he used his real body outside of Elysium, this was completely different.
With Slime’s body being almost 6 times smaller than his human body, the current sensation of speed was also 6 times greater!
Instead of feeling like he was running at 10 m/s (36 km/h), it felt like he was riding at over 200 km/h!
If riding a motorcycle at that speed already generates an astronomical adrenaline rush, imagine riding a living being at that speed, without controlling the direction, speed, and with much faster and more intense acceleration and braking than when riding a motorcycle at that speed, leaving all decisions to someone else?!
"Hahaha, what an incredible feeling! Thank you for giving me this second chance, how I love being alive!!!"
It is not known why, but instead of taking 8 minutes, Lisa took only 7 to reach her destination, leaving her breathless and having to stop to catch her breath while bending down for Lohan to get off as quickly as possible.
Lohan got the hint and proactively climbed down the fox’s back, still euphoric from the adrenaline rush he felt.
While Lisa rested, panting, Lohan’s membrane occasionally vibrated with excitement.
’Okay, I have to increase my speed urgently,’ he thought decisively, addicted to this feeling.
Without him knowing it, this would be one of the best choices he would make for his development.
Using his enhanced vision to analyze his surroundings, Lohan realized he was in a completely unfamiliar area.
Even though he had searched for hours for other monsters in the past, his speed was so low that Lohan never strayed far from his starting area, making the novelty of this location even greater.
Although he was still in a forest, the current scenery had many more rocks and thick trees, but fewer flowers and smaller plants than he was used to digesting.
Sure, it didn’t make much difference to him now that he had two Mana Stones inside him, and even after digesting 30 Biomass of it, they still remained firm for him to digest.
Seeing that the Mana Stone he received today was much richer in energy, Lohan stopped digesting it and focused on the smaller one, wanting to finish it as quickly as possible to receive the new skill.
Two minutes passed and Lisa finally recovered and made an excuse for it. "I’m not used to carrying people on my back."
Lohan, who hadn’t even thought about it, didn’t mind and continued rolling around, absorbing a little from each plant around him, seeing if there were any special plants that could be useful. "No problem, you can rest for another hour and a half and we’ll still be ahead for not coming at my speed, take as long as you need."
"No need, I’m fine now. The Kobold camp is about 500 meters ahead. Since you’re not very fast, I’ll use my speed to lure them to you one by one, just like I did with the Goblin, okay?" she asked.
"How strong are they compared to the Goblin I faced before?" Lohan asked worriedly.
Lisa thought for a moment and replied. "They are slightly superior to Goblins, but the Goblin you faced before was Lv 02, I’ll try to bring you a Lv 01 Kobold."
"Okay." Lohan found it acceptable.
With his confirmation, Lisa became slightly transparent and set off towards the Kobold camp.
Seeing her become transparent, Lohan was surprised.
’So it’s with this skill that she was able to watch me without me noticing? Even if it’s not invisibility, just the fact that she becomes transparent makes her camouflaged with her surroundings... and even her "smell" has become weaker, what an interesting skill...’
This made Lohan wonder. ’If I absorb someone from a rare race, would I be able to absorb their innate abilities as well?
Thinking about the bird he absorbed and learned [Magic Core] from, it seemed perfectly possible.
He didn’t have to wait long. In a few minutes, a white shadow ran past Lohan at high speed.
"I couldn’t separate just one, in a few minutes another Kobold will arrive, if you need help you can let me know." Lisa said as she passed him and activated her transparency again.
Behind her, a grotesque creature screamed and waved a piece of wood in anger.
-xXx-
The creature that emerged from the trees was a disturbing sight, a bizarre cross between a reptile and a canine.
The Kobold was about a meter tall, covered in reddish, dull scales that looked like dried leather. Its head resembled that of a thin dog, but with an elongated snout and yellow eyes that glowed with rage.
It wore only filthy rags around its waist and held a wooden club.
Grrrr... Kuaa!
The monster growled, stopping abruptly when it lost sight of the fox, but its eyes soon landed on the blue Slime standing in the middle of the path.
Seeing that fragile little ball and sensing how dense it was in Mana, the Kobold’s anger disappeared, giving way to greed.
Lohan, however, had no intention of being prey.
’Slightly superior to a Goblin Lv 01? Let’s see the difference between us then...’
He felt the flow of mana coursing through his slimy body. Thanks to the Mana Stones he was digesting, his reservoir was being pushed to the limit. He didn’t wait for the Kobold to attack.
In one fluid motion, Lohan’s upper body contracted and fired a sharp, translucent ice spike.
The Kobold, who was about to roar to intimidate the Slime, was taken completely by surprise by the speed of the magical projectile.
SHLICK!
The sound of flesh being pierced echoed through the clearing. The ice spike hit the center of the Kobold’s chest, piercing through its scales and opening an ugly hole from which dark blood began to gush.
The impact was strong enough to knock the creature a step back, causing it to drop its club as it tried, unsuccessfully, to staunch the wound with its claws.
’Great, with him weakened, it will be easier to finish this before the next one arrives.
This time he controlled his Mana production, making a slightly smaller Ice Spike, a little weaker but using less Mana to conjure, making the weakness from lack of Mana less severe.
Lohan noticed that the Kobold’s movements became slow and erratic. The wound on its chest was not just physical damage; although the ice from the magic stopped the bleeding a little, the low temperature also burned.
Taking advantage of the break, Lohan focused his consciousness on the smaller Mana Stone within himself.
"I need to recharge my Mana now. If the next Kobold arrives, I can’t fight with an empty tank."
While his passive devouring ability worked frantically to convert the stone into usable mana, Lohan advanced on the wounded Kobold.
He didn’t use another spell, instead using his own physical mass, leaping toward the wounded Kobold’s legs.
The monster attempted a clumsy kick, but with its agility reduced by the ice burns from the Ice Spike, it barely hit the air, even though the slime wasn’t that fast. Lohan slid underneath it, wrapping the creature’s ankle with his viscous membrane and began digestion.
And to the Kobold’s despair, a smaller Slime appeared behind him and clung to his other leg, slowly climbing up the monster’s body, leaving a trail of blood wherever it went.
Although it wasn’t fast to move, Lohan’s digestion speed was on a completely different level from other Slimes.
Digesting 24.45 Bio/h (Disregarding Passive Digestion), the Kobold’s skin and flesh were disappearing and being corroded before our very eyes!
K-Kuaaaaa!
The Kobold screamed in pain and terror as he felt the Slime begin to secrete digestive fluids onto his exposed flesh.
In a rage, he tried to hit the two Slimes that were digesting him, but the bodies of these slimes were much more resistant than those of the slimes he had encountered before.
If he had been in perfect condition, he could have used his club and taken advantage of the difference in strength and size to break the exoskeletons of these Slimes, but immobilized by intense pain, the full strength the Kobold could exert was less than half!
From a distance, Lisa watched the bloody scene with shining eyes, not because she enjoyed the carnage, but because she approved of the power Lohan was showing, becoming even more satisfied with her choice.
