Chapter 255: Chapter 255: The Bowl She Enjoyed Most

After asking, Caden Lockwood’s heart involuntarily tightened.

It was obviously just a casual question, but for some reason, he felt nervous about her answer.

His heartbeat quickened, and even his breathing became lighter. In his dark eyes, there was a proud yet cold indifference, but behind this indifference was an intense and deep affection.

Evelyn Morgan looked at Caden Lockwood, and almost asked him who her big brother was.

After all, he had contact with her big brother.

The words reached her lips, but she held back.

A look of helplessness and gravity flashed in her eyes.

She knew it would be useless to ask.

How many times had she asked him questions, and he seriously answered them?

Evelyn didn’t speak, burying her head as she continued eating noodles.

Caden Lockwood’s face darkened, looking at the bowl of noodles in front of him, he completely lost his appetite.

However, seeing how delicious the bowl of noodles Evelyn was eating looked, he couldn’t help but take her bowl, giving her his own, and then started eating the bowl she was eating.

He took a bite and surprisingly found that it tasted pretty good.

This strange emotion made even him chuckle.

Evelyn’s lips awkwardly twitched into a smile as she looked at Caden, unable to bother with him anymore.

She had been busy all morning and hadn’t even had breakfast, so she was really hungry.

When Caden’s second bowl of noodles arrived, he shared half with Evelyn. The two of them ate three bowls of noodles and filled their stomachs.

After that large bowl of noodles went into his stomach, Caden was still amazed that he managed to finish it.

Looking at the seriously rundown and unclean storefront, his face twisted into a complicated expression.

He never thought he would experience this kind of life.

And surprisingly, it wasn’t bad!

"What are you doing this afternoon?" Caden asked, his tone barely concealing his anticipation.

"Don’t follow me anymore, go do your own thing!" Evelyn said softly, "This kind of life, you might find it fun for a while, but you’ll get tired of it after a while."

She paused, then added, "I’m not playing games with you; I’m seriously trying to earn money."

Hearing the stiffness in Evelyn’s words, Caden’s dark brows tightened, and he carefully observed her.

"Yes." He replied, "I haven’t lived this kind of life before."

Evelyn lowered her eyes, her hands unconsciously clenching, her pale and haggard little face showing some disappointment.

"But that doesn’t mean you have to marry a man who lives the same life as you!" Caden declared dominantly.

"I..."

"You are my wife." Caden said, word by word.

Evelyn’s heart trembled heavily, her gentle breathing causing uncertainty to flicker in her eyes.

She looked up at Caden, seriously studying him from head to toe.

Him handing out flyers and sitting in a small noodle shop eating noodles with her had already made her see him in a new light. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

A man like him was originally supposed to live a sparkling life.

Being with her would only lower his standard of living.

Seeing Evelyn quiet again, Caden simply continued to ask, "Do you have any other part-time jobs this afternoon?"

He hesitated for a moment and then said, "Actually, you could come to my company..."

"No way!" Before Caden could finish, Evelyn hastily refused.

She didn’t want to rely on others for everything, making herself seem incompetent.

The more he helped her, the further apart she felt from him.

"I never said I wanted you to be a parachute hire." Caden rolled his eyes, "The company offers internship positions for college students every winter and summer break. The pay is decent. However, the requirements are not low, and whether you can get hired depends on you."

"Caden Lockwood." Evelyn frowned, "Do you think that by doing this, you’re being noble? Should I be grateful to you? No matter what you do, you can’t change your habit of paving the way for others, making others follow the path you’ve designed. Who do you think you are?"

Taking a deep breath, she continued, "And the fact is, you lied to me. You made my life a mess, and you want to continue doing that now?"
