Sold to the Capo-Chapter 139: NOT A FAIRYTALE BUT OUR FOREVER
ADRIANA’S POV
I was biting on my nails as I sat on the couch that night, staring at the door.
It was already unnerving enough that I knew what he had gone to do. It was even more unnerving that he wasn’t back but I had called Valentina and she had informed me that Vincenzo had left the "red room" as she referred to it as.
The door was suddenly pushed open and I stood up instantly, my eyes wide as I stared at Vincenzo walk in, already unbuttoning the top button of his shirt but he stopped on seeing me and he quickly rushed to my side.
"Woah... why are you still awake? It’s midnight. Babe, for fucks sake, just because I wasn’t home, you decided to stay up?" He was cupping my face, concern in his gaze.
My gaze frolicked around his body...looking for something to show the evidence of what I knew he had done but I saw nothing.
He must have noticed my scrutiny because he sighed and pulled me over to the couch. "Tesoro..."
I looked up at him, exhaling sharply. "Yeah?"
"Have you eaten?"
I quickly nodded, my mouth failing me for a minute before I spoke up. "I did. Took all my vitamins also" I reassured him.
He looked like he was waiting for me to ask him but I didn’t, I just fixed my gaze on my hands in my lap.
"Tesoro..." His tone was almost pleading and I looked up at him.
"Did you kill them yet? I know you don’t want to tell me and no one in this fucking place will tell me... I wanna know. I’m tired"
He gently placed a hand over mine, his calloused hands feeling rough against mine and I intertwined my fingers with his.
"Henry? Yeah... really loved that one. There’s something we do to traitors in the mafia and you know it... working for the Bratva? That was stupid so he was my first target but Julius and Rossi? They’re still alive...barely. I end it tomorrow" He informed me and a sickening feeling washed over me.
He noticed my silence and he cursed silently. "Shit. Does it bother you? That I want to kㅡ"
"No" I interrupted, looking up at him with a slight smile. "No, I don’t feel bad for them... I’m worried for you...us ... what’s gonna happen after this?" The implication in my tone was clear.
He stared at me for a second, then gently ran his hand over my stomach, his rough fingers moving in slow, soothing circles. "Doesn’t matter what happens... I’m here, and you’ll always be happy. That is my oath to you, Tesoro. You know why?" His voice dropped into something raw, something desperate. "I fucking love you. More than my own life. More than anything I’ve ever held dear. If I could carve your name into my bones, I would. If I could steal time itself and bend it to your will, I would."
I smiled softly, a laugh escaping me, my heart pounding. "Vincenzo..."
"I mean it," he whispered. "If the world turns against you, I’ll burn it down. If fate tries to take you from me, I’ll rewrite it with my own fucking hands. You are the only thing that keeps me breathing, Adriana." His voice cracked, his forehead pressing against mine. "Don’t ever doubt it."
A lump formed in my throat as I swallowed hard. My fingers traced his jaw, my voice barely above a whisper. "I just... I’m a little sad, you know?" I let out a weak laugh, shaking my head. "For so long, I thought Lord Rossi was my father. I thought I had someone—"
His eyes darkened at the mention of Rossi, but he didn’t interrupt. Instead, he pressed a lingering kiss to my palm. "You had someone," he murmured. "You have someone." He lifted my hand to his chest, pressing it over his heart. "This? This beats for you, Adriana. Only you. And our child."
Tears welled up in my eyes, but I didn’t let them fall. I didn’t need to cry anymore. Not when I had him.
After a long silence, he suddenly spoke. "Do you want to see Michael? I know it was hard letting go even though you don’t show it"
I hesitated, then nodded slowly. "Maybe... just not now. But soon."
His lips twitched into a soft smile. "Whenever you’re ready."
Vincenzo exhaled, then lowered himself, resting his head gently against my stomach. His arms wrapped around me, holding me close, as if grounding himself in the moment.
"I swear to you, Tesoro," he whispered against my skin, voice full of love and sincerity. "You made me a better man and I would not have it any other way. Thank you. No one will ever take you from me. Not in this life, not in the next. You and our child... you’re my whole fucking world. No blood, no war, no goddamn mafia shit will ever change that."
I threaded my fingers through his hair, my own promise falling from my lips like a vow. "Then I swear to you, Vincenzo LaRosa, I will never leave your side. Not in this life. Not in the next. Never. You made me the best version of myself..."
He lifted his head, his lips finding mine in a kiss that tasted of love, finality and a promise of forever.

ONE MONTH LATER
I rubbed my belly absently, watching Vincenzo pace the room like a caged animal. His frustration was almost comical, but I wasn’t about to give in so easily.
This was hilarious.
He stopped abruptly, pinning me with a glare. "Adriana."
I hummed in response, barely biting back a smirk.
His jaw clenched and he ran a hand through his hair, his expression shifting into one of pleading. "What did the doctor say?"
I tilted my head. "About what?"
He exhaled sharply, running a hand down his face. "You know exactly what."
I sighed dramatically, tapping my chin. "Oh, the baby’s gender? Hm. Well, I don’t know, Vincenzo. Maybe I should just keep it a surprise?"
He groaned and pouted his lips. It was almost funny seeing him being this childish when we were alone. He would never be like this to anyone. Just me. "Tesoro, I swear to Dio, if you don’t tell me right now—"
I cut him off with a laugh, reaching over to the side table and grabbing the small, wrapped box from my bag I had prepared earlier. "Fine. Here."
He took it from my hands eagerly, eyes narrowing as he pulled at the ribbon, anxiousness in his eyes. The lid popped open, and the second he saw what was inside, he froze.
A tiny, delicate pink onesie.
For a moment, he just stared. His fingers trembled as he slowly pulled the soft fabric out of the box, his throat bobbing.
Then, his eyes lifted to mine, wide with shock, and pure, unfiltered joy.
"It’s... a girl?" His voice was hoarse, like he couldn’t quite believe it.
I nodded, my own chest tightening with emotion. "It’s a girl."
A strangled sound escaped him, and the next thing I knew, I was in his arms, lifted off my feet as he spun me in a circle. His laughter rumbled against my skin, his lips pressing feverish kisses to my face, my temple, my lips. Everywhere he could.
"A girl," he repeated in awe, his eyes glistening with tears. "Our little girl."
I smiled, resting my forehead against his. "She’s going to be so loved."
He swallowed hard, his thumb brushing my cheek. "So fucking loved."
After a moment, we settled onto the couch, my head resting against his shoulder as he rubbed my belly in slow, lazy circles.
His voice was quieter now. "Do you think she’ll be the next Don?"
I hesitated, my fingers gripping his shirt. "I don’t know. The mafia world isn’t kind to women much. I don’t want her to go through what I did. I was just your wife but damn... what’ll happen if she becomes the Don?"
He nodded, pressing a kiss to my hair. "If she does, I assure you she’ll be perfectly fine but..." His hands slid protectively over my stomach. "She’ll be whatever she wants to be. And I’ll stand behind her, no matter what."
I looked up at him, my heart filled with love. A feeling I had come to associate with myself daily. "You’d do that? Even if she wanted to walk away from all of this?"
"I’d burn it all down for her." His voice was firm, absolute. "Just like I would for you."
Tears pricked my eyes and he shifted, cupping my face in his hands, his gaze locking onto mine with an intensity that stole my breath. "Adriana, listen to me. There is nothing—nothing—more important to me than you and our daughter." He exhaled shakily, his forehead pressing against mine. "If I have to kill, I’ll kill. If I have to protect, I’ll protect. If I have to kneel before the devil himself, I’ll do it without hesitation. As long as I have you. As long as I have her."
I let out a shaky breath, my hands coming up to cradle his face. "I love you, Vincenzo."
He groaned, the sound coming out strangled. "Say it again."
I smiled, pressing my lips to his, speaking the words against his skin. "I love you. I love you. I love you."
His arms tightened around me, his lips capturing mine in a kiss that was both desperate and tender.
And in that moment, I knew...whatever came next, whatever challenges we faced...we had already won.
Because we had each other.
Forever.
And I stared into those mesmerizing hazel eyes that never failed to take my breath away, I seemed to realize it all over again.
He was my undoing.
He was my home.
He was my forever.
Just like I was his. Forever.
THE END.
