Chapter 260: Demon of Light (I)

Seeing Penny panicking while blind, Adam couldn’t help but feel a primordial rage surge through his body.

It felt like every single one of his cells was on fire as he slowly guided her to a wall.

"Stay here for now" he growled while trying his best to comfort her. "I’ll be back after I slaughter the bastard who did this!"

Deprived of her sight, she couldn’t see a thing but after feeling the touch of Adam’s trembling hand attempting to comfort her, she noticed something.

She could vaguely feel the flow of blood, even from a distance. With no other way to describe it, it was like she could ’see’ bloodflow.

Craning her neck around, she saw an irregular flow of blood on the ceiling. It was choppy and black like sludge.

"On the Roof! On the Roof!" Penny shouted and pointed in almost total hysteria.

Immediately, Adam whipped his head around to where she pointed. His mouth opened slightly as another wave of horror washed over him.

"What the fuck...is that!" He shouted as he brandished his dagger.

Greg grunted as he returned to being blind in one eye. However he very quickly realized that he lost vision in his normal eye. His molten orange eye was still working perfectly.

Glancing around, he noticed that Luna and Lily were facing different ways with a vacant look in their eyes.

That’s when he clued in on what happened. Just as he was about to share what he figured out, Adam’s shout grabbed his attention.

Looking where he was facing he saw what he could only describe as an abomination.

While Humanoid in shape, nothing human had well over 100 eyes and nothing else. There was no mouth,no ears, not even a single hair. Where a facial feature was supposed to be, there was an eye.

He couldn’t help but feel a little unnerved as it seemed to stare back at him unblinkingly but nevertheless raised his fists, ready to fight.

Leo felt a flash of light cross his eyes before it returned to normal

when those notifications came and everything devolved into utter chaos.

Lily was completely out of commision without her eyes but Rachel and Luna may still be able to fight, even if it was only in a limited capacity.

Penny and Adam’s shouts grabbed Leo’s attention as well. When he saw the Humanoid Eye monster, he felt a myriad of emotions but the strongest one was disgust.

He appraised the monster as it seemed to fall to the floor in slow motion.

"What the fuck..." his voice came out as a grated whisper. The appraisal of the Boss was more than just a little strange, it was downright creepy! freeweɓnovel-cøm

"Why does the appraisal look so similar to our own status screens?"

Leo asked. Glancing around, he quickly shifted to his Poison Form and leveled his guns.

No matter what, a BOSS with 10,000 HP was more than what they would be able to deal with without a steady source of healng.

As soon as his guns were raised, its feet touched the ground. From where it stood, an inky darkness began to spread.

The Demon tilted its head as it observed the party. Each eye blinking out of turn made it look even more creepy.

"RAHH!"

Luna swung her axe in a large arc but the monster simply leaned back and dodged with ease, forcing her to retreat backwards as she didn’t want to keep attacking blind.

Greg narrowed his eyes, his fists tightening. His muscles bulged as his body swelled in size, gaining mass and power. He rushed in without hesitation, throwing a heavy kick aimed at the creature’s legs. The monster shifted to the side. Greg followed up with a flurry of strikes, fists and elbows pounding forward like hammers.

Each attack missed.

The creature moved as if it already knew where every strike would land. It bent at unnatural angles, sidestepped just enough, or tilted its head a fraction out of range. Its movements were effortless.

Greg growled, frustrated. "It’s dodging everything. I can’t even touch it!"

Adam didn’t hesitate. His entire body steamed with violet mist as the heat from his skin hissed into the air. His pupils narrowed, the whites of his eyes tinged faintly with red. With a roar, he dashed forward, faster than anyone could track.

He struck low, aiming for the creature’s legs, then flipped his grip and slashed upward. He vanished and reappeared behind the monster, stabbing for the base of its spine.

The dagger passed through nothing but empty space.

Adam gritted his teeth and launched into a storm of slashes, each one faster than the last. The rotten wood floor beneath his feet cracked as his speed tore through it.

Still nothing landed.

The creature shifted lazily. Every single one of its many eyes tracked the movement of Adam’s dagger and Greg’s fists. It didn’t need to block. It didn’t need to counter. It simply watched and moved before the attacks even came close.

Penny clutched the wall, still blind, but her bloodsense was growing sharper. She focused harder and harder on the monster’s body. The flow inside it was still black and sludge-like. She could barely feel a rhythm. It was unnatural.

She opened her mouth, her voice trembling. "It’s dodging because it sees everything. It’s got eyes on every side."

Adam struck again, this time aiming for one of the glowing eyes, but the monster slid away like smoke.

Then it finally moved.

Without warning, one of its arms snapped toward Greg.

A large eye on the center of its palm began to glow.

"Shit!" Greg hissed as he didn’t have enough time to get out of the way, so he tensed up, bracing himself for the inevitable impact.

Bang!

A gunshot broke the silence.
