Sovereign of the Ashes-Chapter 1294: Golden Apple
Sein and Thor communicated privately through mental focus, so no one heard their conversation.
When Sein mentioned the “Golden Apple”, Thor furrowed his brow and then shook his head.
“I ate plenty of those when I was a child, but my mother sealed off the Golden Apple Orchard twenty thousand years ago. Now they are classified as ‘strategic resources’, so I cannot just take them freely anymore.”
“What a pity. If you had asked me twenty thousand years ago, I could have gotten you some,” he added with a shrug.
“Is that so? That’s too bad!” Sein sighed.
The Golden Apple was something Sein had come across while studying in Sky City.
The Golden Apple Tree was considered one of the top divine artifacts in the entire Magus Alliance, and its fruit was said to possess incredible properties.
The vials of Amethyst Aphid Honeydew Sein had recently acquired from the Sandworm Queen’s breeding project were already treasures in their own right.
Yet compared to the value of the Golden Apple, those vials of honeydew were nothing.
The two were simply not in the same league.
In fact, even a low‑grade world‑class secret treasure often could not be traded for a single Golden Apple.
A world‑class secret treasure could be exchanged for many things, but not for life.
After all, life was priceless.
On a dangerous battlefield, a single Golden Apple meant a second chance at life.
According to Sky City’s historical records, Golden Apples from Titan World had instant healing effects even on peak Rank Six creatures.
The Magus Alliance had plenty of divine trees and top‑tier materials comparable to world‑class secret treasures, but none could match the Golden Apple’s effects.
Perhaps there were rare materials that could rival it, but none produced fruit on the same scale as the Golden Apple Tree.
When Thor mentioned he had eaten many as a child, Sein’s lips twitched involuntarily.
He could not help but wonder if this guy was the son of the Divine Titan King.
Just as Sein was feeling disappointed, Thor suddenly remembered something.
He paused for a moment, then pulled Sein aside and asked through mental focus, “If I actually manage to get my hands on a Golden Apple, how much would you be willing to pay for it?”
Thor’s question stunned Sein.
To be honest, a treasure like the Golden Apple was far beyond his reach at this stage.
It had been designated a “strategic resource”, showing just how much importance Magus World placed on them.
Each Golden Apple was considered a priceless asset of the Magus Civilization.
Sein’s earlier inquiry had been mostly in jest.
But Thor did not seem to be joking, so Sein took a deep breath and said, “Name your price.”
He was not trying to deflect; he genuinely had no idea what a Golden Apple was worth!
At certain times, one of these could be rarer than a world‑class secret treasure.
Sein had never even heard of one circulating in the Magus Civilization’s trading markets.
World‑class secret treasures unsuitable for their owners sometimes ended up on the market and were sold at sky‑high prices.
But who would sell a Golden Apple? Who could even bear to part with it?
As Thor was about to name a figure, Sein quickly interrupted, reminding him, “You know I just purchased a space fortress and need to modify it. I don’t have much spare cash left right now. If your price goes way beyond my budget, I won’t be able to buy it.”
Thor fell silent, thinking for a moment before finally quoting a price. “How about seventy million magicoins?”
To be honest, Thor gave a very fair price.
Given that a Golden Apple was worth as much as a low‑grade world‑class secret treasure, even a price exceeding a hundred million magicoins at a Magus Alliance auction would not have been surprising!
But this was not the Magus Alliance’s open market, where public bidding and auctions were allowed.
Thor had to keep this deal discreet; if his sister ever found out, it would not just end with a beating.
On top of that, Thor would not even pocket the entire amount.
The real supplier behind the Golden Apple deal was someone else, and Thor would be lucky to keep half the profit.
From Thor’s perspective, seventy million was perfectly fair. He was already cutting Sein a deal.
Thor’s offer gave Sein a jolt of excitement, but more than that, it left him feeling overwhelmed.
He could not quite put his finger on it, but ever since ascending to Rank Four, everyone he encountered seemed exceptionally formidable.
Whether it was the Spider Queen before or Thor now, they casually discussed sums starting in the millions of magicoins.
For Sein, who had only just established his divine towers and led his forces through an interplanar war, this felt utterly draining and overwhelming.
A single Golden Apple was far beyond his current means.
Sure, the Spider Queen might have had the money, but Sein had no intention of involving her in this deal. Instead, he decided to rely on his own faction.
Master Feylis had established the Divine Tower of Verdant Flame over ten thousand years ago, and together with the other divine towers in the faction, raising seventy million magicoins should not be too difficult.
In fact, Feylis alone might have had enough to cover the entire amount!
Sein immediately took out his crystal ball, eager to contact his mentor and grandmaster.
Unfortunately, the Howling Stone Plane was teeming with high‑level lifeforms and possibly even overlords, making crystal ball communication impossible.
Other methods of contact would be far too conspicuous, and seeing how secretive Thor was being about this matter, Sein suppressed his excitement for now.
He would have to wait until the Alliance Conference began or ended before bringing it up to Lorianne, Feylis, and the others.
There was no point rushing, and Thor was not about to pull out a Golden Apple for him right this second anyway.
After talking it over with Thor, Sein resisted the urge to have him sign some kind of law contract.
Some deals were best kept private, and Sein chose to trust Thor.
Though they had only interacted briefly, he could tell Thor was a man of his word, someone unlikely to go back on his promises.
Seeing Sein agree left Thor visibly excited.
Sein could not help but ask, “How exactly do you plan on getting me a Golden Apple? You’re not planning to steal it, are you? I do not want the Magus Alliance coming after me.”
Taking something from your own home isn’t really stealing, right? I can’t get it myself, but I have a younger brother...” Thor trailed off, then quickly changed the subject.
He patted Sein on the chest and assured him, “As long as you can provide enough magicoins, I’ll definitely get it for you!”
