Sovereign of the Ashes-Chapter 1488: News of the Huusians
Watching another Magus Alliance combat legion depart for the frontlines, Sein gazed into the depths of the starry void.
Endless waves of war legions were being sent to the battlefield of this large-sized star domain.
The transit plane guarded by Sein was just one of many logistical hubs scattered across the Grand Eye Demon World’s star domain.
“According to Magus Alliance estimates, the Grand Eye Demon World has around three hundred Eye Demons of Rank Four or higher. Even factoring in the smaller vassal planes swept up in their rebellion, the true resistance within this large star domain should not exceed five hundred law-wielding creatures,” Sein murmured.
“But we still have no accurate count of the legions the Gallant Federation dispatched to support them. The war has been raging for quite some time now. I wonder what the situation looks like now.”
When he first arrived in the Grand Eye Demon World’s star domain, Sein knew only that the Magus Civilization was on the offensive.
As for casualty ratios on both sides, he had not received any reports with precise figures.
After all, he was just a “logistics officer” now, and there were no other powerhouses around to whom he could appeal.
Had Grandmaster Feylis been stationed here, her status as a Rank Six mage would surely have granted him access to far more information.
Likewise, since arriving on Silvashade World, Sein had yet to receive any news about the Huusians.
He could only assume they were still somewhere within this immense battlefield, though their exact location remained unknown...

Sein’s garrison assignment on Silvashade World was scheduled for a decade.
According to his earlier exchange with the Rank Four mage dispatched by the Magus Alliance, Sein would be permitted to lead his forces to the Netherworld Star Domain after ten years.
By then, a new garrison legion would arrive to replace him on Silvashade World.
The duties here were not particularly demanding. In truth, they were uneventful.
Aside from personally receiving law-wielding powerhouses from the alliance and verifying the delivery of major war resources, Sein spent most of his time secluded in the laboratory, immersed in research.
During this period, both Sia and Reina’s progress had slowed considerably.
Simple training and body-tempering experiments were no longer enough for them to improve at any noticeable pace.
Breakthroughs for knights ultimately had to be earned on the battlefield. What Sia and Reina needed most now was, perhaps, a fight that would truly satisfy them.
Sein had once told Reina to follow her instincts and not suppress her gluttonous urges.
Yet over the years, her figure never returned to its old, mountainous form. Instead, she now maintained a well-balanced body proportion.
When Sein asked her about it, she answered honestly, “This is my true self now. Before, nothing felt more important than eating. But now, I no longer crave those delicacies as much.”
“Maybe it’s because I have already tasted most of the world’s finest foods?” Reina mused, tilting her head.
It was a question even Sein could not answer.

Sein’s garrison duty on Silvashade World came to an end after twelve long years, when another knight legion finally arrived to relieve him.
The war in the Grand Eye Demon World still raged fiercely. Reports indicated that the Eye Demons had been pushed back to just one-third of the star domain’s total territory.
Yet the fighting was only growing more difficult.
Both the Eye Demons and the Gallant Federation legions were deliberately pulling back, using layered tactics to hold off the Magus Civilization’s advance.
In this defensive struggle, the Gallant Federation legions used every possible tactic.
Demiplanes, broken planes, asteroids... anything could become a staging ground for their ambushes.
As the Magus Civilization’s armies advanced through the vast expanse of this star domain, they had essentially purged every plane and asteroid in sight.
The entire central region of the Grand Eye Demon World now lay desolate and barren.
Only the drifting debris and ruins remained as silent witnesses to the countless battles that had once consumed this place.
After leaving Silvashade World, Sein had expected to be deployed directly to the Netherworld Star Domain battlefield.
Surprisingly, however, new orders from the Magus Civilization reassigned him to another resource transit base.
This time, he was not stationed on a plane, but on an asteroid belt near the frontlines of the Grand Eye Demon World’s star domain.
“Master Sein, you have guarded Silvashade World well. This resource transit base is closer to the frontlines and of greater strategic importance. We trust you will fulfill your duties diligently. The duration of this assignment is four years.”
The message came from a high-ranking figure in Magus World, transmitted via long-distance communication.
At times, logistical defense duties could be even more crucial than frontline combat missions.
Naturally, Sein did not question the Magus Civilization’s orders. He nodded, accepting yet another garrison duty.

During Sein’s years stationed on Silvashade World, not a single incident occurred, and he never once encountered the Gallant Federation’s so-called Shadow Fleet.
The Magus Civilization’s leadership had likely taken note of that, viewing him as a “lucky star” when it came to securing the rear. That was probably why they transferred him to another logistics base. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
As for why the Magus Civilization’s assignments did not follow the original agreement—or Sein’s own request to be deployed to the Netherworld Star Domain battlefield...
Well, plans rarely kept up with change.
It just so happened that he had run into yet another wave of strategic adjustments by the Magus leadership, or perhaps some new upheaval among the enemy legions.
And as a mere Rank Four mage, what could he possibly do to change that?
Sein obediently reported to the logistics base and accepted his new garrison assignment without complaint or delay.
However, when he completed his four-year term, the Magus Civilization assigned him yet another garrison duty...
This time, Sein was stationed on a demiplane called Nostar Sand, where large numbers of Magus Alliance stragglers were recuperating.
His task was to wait, or rather, watch. Once those wounded allied creatures recovered their combat strength, his job was to make sure they marched back to the frontlines as quickly as possible.
Within Nostar Sand Demiplane, Sein finally managed to gather some intelligence on the Huusians.
The information came from a severely injured Rank Four allied deity whose head had been partially cleaved open.
“The Huusians fared much better,” the wounded god said, scratching his neck. “They seem to have been reassigned to the Fickle Star Domain. Fifty years ago, I even fought alongside them once.”
Sein had only heard of the star domain before but knew little about it.
After asking around later, he learned that it was a medium-sized star domain relatively close to the one where the Grand Eye Demon World was located
It had not joined the Eye Demons in their rebellion against the Magus Alliance, but due to the frequent incursions of Gallant Federation fleets, that star domain had also become a war zone—though the fighting there was far less intense.
Amidst the constant redeployments across the front, the Huusians’ transfer to the Fickle Star Domain now seemed rather fortunate.
No wonder that wounded Rank Four god had sounded so envious.
The deep gash across its skull had likely been left by a blow from one of the Gallant Federation’s massive mobile suits.
After tossing the injured god a healing potion as payment for the information, Sein watched the foreign deity bow repeatedly, overflowing with gratitude.
Sein glanced at it and said, “Recover quickly and reorganize your legions. The frontlines are still desperately short-handed.”
