Sovereign of the Ashes-Chapter 1581: Causing Trouble
Sein was quite satisfied with the outcome of this battle.
Achieving such results at minimal cost and within such a short time was more than enough to serve as the opening salvo of the Magus Civilization’s military campaign across the surrounding star domains.
His only real regret was that White Stella and Tourmaline had arrived a little too late, and that the main force of the sea races under their command had not yet fully arrived.
Otherwise, not a single one of the powerful invaders who dared trespass into Marvelous Plane would have escaped!
After the war, the distribution of spoils became their next focus.
Sein claimed only the most valuable prize—the Rank Five Sand Crocodile.
White Stella appeared indifferent to the creature’s value, or perhaps she raised no objections out of consideration for Tourmaline’s friendship with Sein.
Still, Sein later compensated White Stella and her sea race legions in other ways.
After all, he knew very well that White Stella had contributed the most to capturing the Sand Crocodile alive.
Aside from Sein himself, every other Magus Civilization powerhouse involved in the battle was highly satisfied with how the spoils were divided.
The materials harvested from several Rank Four creature corpses alone were enough to ensure that everyone received a meaningful share.
Moreover, the wealth carried by the allied forces of Arid Expanse World and Aquaria was considerable.
Those armies had plundered vast amounts of resources from Marvelous Plane, and much of that wealth had been abandoned during their chaotic retreat.
This included the remains of two Rank Four creatures native to Marvelous Plane, which were now counted among the Magus Civilization’s spoils.
Queen Hippolyta and Beatrice were still too weak to take part in negotiations.
The only other surviving Rank Four entity, the Ancient Banyan King, lacked the authority to represent Marvelous Plane in discussions with the Magus Civilization powerhouses like Sein.
As a result, the enormous wealth originating from Marvelous Plane itself could only be treated as an unsettled account for the time being, left unresolved.
Of course, once Marvelous Plane formally joined the Magus Alliance, the alliance would conduct a full evaluation and provide corresponding magicoin compensation and resource support.
But that was a matter for the future, completely unrelated to the immediate spoils claimed by Sein and the Magus Civilization legions in this war.
After settling a series of matters, Sein made his way toward his experimental zone within the Ashen Fortress.
Sein’s private space inside the fortress was immense. His laboratories alone numbered in the hundreds, each fitted with a spatial magic array that made their interiors far more spacious than they appeared from the outside.
The captured Rank Five Sand Crocodile was now confined within a sealed zone in the basement of one of his laboratories.
Suppressed by nearly a third of the fortress’ total energy reserves, it was almost impossible for the gravely injured creature to escape its fate.
Sein was in no hurry to deal with it. Instead, he headed first to the recovery area where Beatrice and Hippolyta were resting.
The mother and daughter were in the same room, separated only by a thin partition.
Their injuries were so severe that neither had fully recovered before the war came to an end.
In fact, the long delay in proper treatment had caused their conditions to worsen.
Rank Four beings rarely suffered injuries, but when they did, the damage was usually catastrophic.
Both mother and daughter now carried powerful foreign laws within their bodies. These corrosive forces continued to damage them from the inside.
Among the Magus Civilization powehouses who had arrived at Marvelous Plane, only Sein was more skilled in apothecary. After all, he had studied under a well-known “expert” and he was the only mage present.
Perhaps White Stella possessed some special skill or artifact capable of saving them, but she showed no interest in helping the two fragile foreign deities.
The giant mermaid’s attention remained focused on commanding her sea race legions.
Matters such as forging contracts with surrounding world civilizations like Marvelous Plane and guiding them toward entry into the Magus Alliance fell squarely under Sein’s responsibilities. White Stella had no intention of interfering in such affairs.
Sein turned his attention first to Beatrice, whom he knew better.
The divine artifact-grade spear was still stuck in her chest.
The bleeding had long since stopped, yet the sight of the weapon still protruding there was deeply unsettling.
Since it was lodged precisely between her breasts, both Sein and Beatrice felt rather awkward as he worked to treat her injuries.
As Sein’s gaze lingered on her well-shaped, fair globes, his thoughts drifted back to White Stella, whom he had only just fought alongside.
Mermaids were usually dressed in revealing attire, and White Stella was no exception.
She wore nothing but a pair of large white shells to cover what could only be described as majestic peaks.
“The most breathtaking views are always found on the most perilous peaks,” he murmured.
“What did you say?” Beatrice asked. She was lying on an experimental table.
“Nothing. I’ll help you remove that shortly. It might sting a bit. Here’s a numbing agent. Apply it around the wound yourself first,” Sein instructed.
Beatrice flushed slightly as she followed his instructions. It was the first time she had ever felt so flustered in front of a man.
Among the Amazon Tribe of Marvelous Plane, society was matriarchal, with females traditionally holding positions of authority.
Yet in Sein’s presence, Beatrice experienced a rare sense of being protected—of having someone she could rely on.
Just as Sein firmly grasped the divine artifact-grade spear and began to pull it out...
“SEIN!”
The laboratory door burst open with a loud bang.
The sudden interruption made Sein’s hand falter for a split second, causing Beatrice to suck in a sharp breath.
Seeing blood spread across the experimental table, Sein remained calm and focused as he continued treating Beatrice.
After a glance at Beatrice’s pained expression, he explained, “It looks like it grazed your heart, but it shouldn’t be too serious. I’ll take care of it.”
The cause of Sein’s slip-up was none other than Tourmaline, who had rushed into the laboratory in excitement.
Tourmaline had access to nearly every part of the Ashen Fortress, aside from Sein’s private bedroom, so it was hardly surprising that she had barged in unannounced.
With the dragon blood blessing within Sein, finding him was effortless for her.
Realizing the trouble she had caused, Tourmaline clapped both hands over her mouth, eyes wide in shock.
Seeing that Sein clearly had no time for her, she glanced around, took a few steps back, and quietly exited the laboratory.
Once outside, the strong scent of blood faded, and Tourmaline let out a long breath of relief.
It seemed like Sein was busy. Who should she play with instead?
Tilting her head in thought, Tourmaline decided to look for Sandy and Lou.
Before she left, Tourmaline could not help glancing back toward Sein’s laboratory. Then she looked down at her flat chest and let out a quiet sigh.
For someone as cheerful and optimistic as Tourmaline, it was surprising that anything could make her sigh at all.
