Chapter 1610: The Dragonkin Family

“Sein, what have you been up to lately? Thanks again for the potion you gave me last time!” Black Oblivion laughed cheerfully as he pulled Sein into a dragon hug.

While White Stella found her younger brother a big headache, Sein thought he was fine—just a warm, easygoing guy.

“Well, I’m working on a few projects right now...” Sein replied, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.

Black Oblivion immediately waved his hands. “Stop, stop! Don’t tell me about your experiments. Just hearing about them gives me a massive headache.”

“Geez, how do you mages manage to stay cooped up in labs every day?” he asked, genuinely puzzled.

Given his nature, Black Oblivion found it hard to understand the appeal of locking oneself away in a laboratory to pursue truths.

Still, that difference never stopped them from becoming friends.

Sein had no desire to explain himself anyway. Even if he did, Black Oblivion probably would not understand, and certainly would not find it interesting.

Ignoring Black Oblivion’s grumbling, Sein turned his gaze to the two Rank Four beings standing behind him.

Both appeared in human form, yet each exuded an unmistakably powerful dragon aura, much like Black Oblivion.

Black Oblivion had previously introduced them as his paternal cousins.

Unlike Black Oblivion, who wielded water laws and possessed an exceptionally strong affinity for the hydro element, these two wielded geo and pyro-attribute laws respectively.

Sein had already seen their true forms in battle.

Well... they looked nothing like Black Oblivion!

The one who wielded geo-attribute laws was named Qixiu, and he was Black Oblivion’s older cousin.

He had a blunt, yellowish-green horn and was covered in thick dragon scales. When he charged forward, the ground trembled, and the mountains shook. Even the surrounding space seemed to quiver faintly.

The one who wielded pyro-attribute laws was Hanliu, a younger cousin of Black Oblivion and close to him in age. He had a slender frame, but enormous nostrils and a thick crimson mane framing his face.

When he unleashed his law power on the battlefield, the dragon flames he spewed were enough to make even Sein stare in awe.

Thanks to their connections with Tourmaline and Black Oblivion, the two dragonkin had barely settled in before Sein had already tricked them into his laboratory to collect a generous supply of blood and tissue samples.

Well, trick might not be the right word; Sein would rather call it an equivalent exchange.

After years of study, he had come to understand the dragonkind very well.

For these two Rank Four dragonkin, Sein needed only to take out a few high-quality Gray Quartz from his personal collection to persuade them to take part in several of his small experiments.

The two dragonkin claimed to hail from the Immortal Realm Civilization—a top-tier civilization on par with the Magus Civilization. Judging by their ties to Tourmaline and the others, they clearly maintained friendly relations with Magus World.

Sein knew very little about the Immortal Realm Civilization, having encountered only scattered references to it in Sky City’s archives.

The Drunken Panda Immortal from Beastmen World also claimed to have traveled through the Immortal Realm.

To this day, Sein still had not unraveled the true mystery behind that round, barrel-hugging panda and its many clones.

The Immortal Realm Civilization lay unimaginably far from Magus World. It was so distant that even ordinary Rank Four or Rank Five beings would struggle to cross the gap.

The Drunken Panda Immortal had reached it only through an extraordinary stroke of luck.

This immense distance between them meant the Immortal Realm Civilization and the Magus Civilization likely had no direct conflicts of interest.

Based on the limited intelligence available, Sein could barely grasp the Immortal Realm’s true scope. Perhaps only by traveling there himself one day might he uncover the secrets of that supreme civilization.

There was, however, one thing Sein knew for certain: inert crystals like Gray Quartz were not only exceedingly rare within the Magus Civilization, but were virtually unheard of in the Immortal Realm!

These two cousins were probably as wealthy as Tourmaline and Black Oblivion, but their eyes still lit up the moment they saw the Gray Quartz Sein produced.

The attraction to treasure and gleaming objects was instinctive and irresistible to dragonkind.

In the end, they felt they had struck a good deal, obtaining the quartz in exchange for what they considered only a small amount of dragon blood and scales.

Black Oblivion’s two cousins were both relatively young, and it seemed he had persuaded them to join the frontline of this Clash of Civilizations.

Sein still remembered how White Stella’s beautiful eyes nearly popped out of their sockets the first time she saw her two cousins.

Had they not been on the frontlines—surrounded by powerhouses from Magus World, the Magus Alliance, and the sea races—White Stella might have slapped Black Oblivion with her tail fin hard enough to send him flying back into the distant starry skies.

Faced with his older sister’s furious glare, Black Oblivion could only respond with an awkward laugh.

Sein did not know the full story behind their family, but he had to admit that these two Rank Four dragonkin were formidable allies who helped ease some of the pressure on this battlefield.

Moreover, Sein had overheard Black Oblivion mention that the Arriba Interstellar Chamber of Commerce would soon pass through this region.

When that happened, vast quantities of rare resources from distant star domains would arrive, and even foreign deities might take part in the surrounding wars as mercenaries.

The law-wielding beings hired by the Arriba Chamber of Commerce were not wandering deities or nomadic clans scraping by in the Chaos Sea Star Domain.

They were professional mercenaries, many of whom had homeplanes of their own to return to. Even so, they accepted the Arriba Chamber of Commerce’s invitation to cross the vast Astral Realm, driven by a desire to temper themselves, broaden their horizons, and reach higher realms.

Some of these law-wielding beings even hailed from large-sized worlds or top-tier civilizations of formidable strength.

Although White Stella’s family shared kinship with Qixiu and Hanliu, their parental attributes were likely different.

Members of White Stella’s family, including Black Oblivion and Tourmaline, were dragonkin inclined toward the hydro-attribute.

Qixiu and Hanliu, one aligned with geo and the other with pyro, clearly did not share the same lineage.

Sein had once asked Tourmaline how many uncles she had and how many blood-related siblings she possessed.

Tourmaline had only blinked her large eyes and counted for a long time. In the end, Sein never got an exact figure.

Tourmaline was probably still too young. She had never visited the Immortal Realm Civilization and had little contact with those distant relatives.

Black Oblivion and White Stella, on the other hand, were likely far more familiar with their relatives in the Immortal Realm.

The conclusion Sein reached was that Tourmaline’s lineage was vast and numerous, and each member seemed to possess extraordinary potential among their peers.

Sein had also seen the weapons used by Qixiu and Hanliu. The former wielded a diamond drill, while the latter carried a flaming banner.

No matter how he looked at them, Sein could not shake the feeling that both weapons might be world-class secret treasures.

He could not help but wonder.... were world-class secret treasures that common within the Immortal Realm Civilization?

Or was it simply that dragonkin across the Astral Realm were all incredibly wealthy?

No wonder tales of dragon slayers continued to circulate throughout the Astral Realm.

During his conversations with Qixiu, Sein also learned that the Immortal Realm Civilization had indeed achieved remarkable heights in the field of artifact forging.

This only deepened the attraction the Immortal Realm held for an alchemist like Sein.

Sein could not help but sigh in awe. “The prosperous and powerful Immortal Realm of the dazzling Astral Realm, huh...?”
