Chapter 1649: Reinforcements Arrive

White Stella’s ability to withstand Seiron’s strike did not come from her own strength, but from the Royal Trident she wielded.

It carried a trace of the Magus World mermaid overlord’s power.

In this world, foundations and connections mattered.

Faeloria’s God of Justice had attempted to uncover the Spider Queen’s true nature, only to be gravely wounded by a sliver of an overlord’s power that her adoptive father had secretly planted within her.

The incident had also cost the Goddess of Luck nearly half her lifespan, leading her to reconsider her alignment and altering Faeloria’s future in unpredictable ways.

It remained unclear whether White Stella herself carried any hidden power planted by an overlord, but the Royal Trident she wielded undeniably carried a trace of an overlord’s power.

Bearing half the bloodline of the Magus World mermaids and having been personally groomed by Avril as her successor, White Stella was able to wield a portion of the Royal Trident’s might!

The faint pallor on her face revealed that she had suffered significant backlash from the earlier clash of power.

An overlord’s power was not something that could be controlled easily.

That said, White Stella’s naturally fair complexion made the signs of strain less noticeable.

With a cold snort, Seiron swung his weapon fiercely at White Stella once again.

“Leave, NOW!” White Stella issued a sharp command to the narwhal, then met Seiron’s attack head-on.

Seiron was armed with two world-class secret treasures, but White Stella was no less formidable.

In fact, the qualities of White Stella’s world-class secret treasures were superior to Seiron’s.

Still, the vast gap in their life levels put her at a huge disadvantage.

Seiron was no weak opponent like Orven. Even Grandmaster Feylis had suffered minor setbacks when facing him.

Wielding the Royal Trident, White Stella finally revealed her final trump card in this confrontation with Seiron.

Even during her battle with Orven, that young Rank Six Ocean King had not managed to force her to reveal her full strength.

Beyond the Royal Trident and the Sea-Taming Pearl she had already revealed, a faint layer of pale silver dragon scales spread across her fair skin.

As her sharp cries rang out across the battlefield, a distinct dragon’s aura also began to emanate from her body.

The giant mermaid violently churned the hydro elemental energy across the battlefield. If she could survive this battle, her future would be one of smooth sailing!

In truth, during the clash on Marvelous Plane, she had already touched upon a trace of Rank Six power.

Unfortunately, that moment had been fleeting. She had not had the time to calm her mind and work on her breakthrough.

As White Stella continued her fierce battle against Seiron, the Magus Civilization’s forces clashed head-on with the Arid Expanse World legions.

The chaotic melee among the lower-tier legions offered no immediate indication of how the battle would end.

Both sides had committed overwhelming numbers to the fight. Even law-wielding beings numbered in the hundreds!

A conflict of this scale could easily rage on for decades without a clear resolution, as both parties possessed deep reserves.

Even now, the Arid Expanse World continued to mobilize additional forces from its home star domain.

The Gallant Federation’s haulers and wormhole technology proved invaluable to Arid Expanse World.

The federation’s technological influence was clearly visible throughout Arid Expanse World’s mid-tier and lower-tier legions.

While Magus World’s low-ranking knights now donned magitech armor, the savage native creatures of Arid Expanse World were outfitted with individual combat suits or exoskeleton armor supplied by the Gallant Federation.

These savage creatures could not afford to reject new technologies. They simply had to adapt to anything that improved their chances of survival on the battlefield.

Moreover, their past tendency to fight bare-chested was largely due to environmental constraints, not any inherent preference for exposing themselves in combat.

As the opposing legions locked into brutal combat, another force began to stir behind the sea race legions led by White Stella.

The mercenaries of the Arriba Interstellar Chamber of Commerce, who had already signed contracts with the Magus Civilization, were preparing to enter the fray.

Nearly twenty hired deities formed a formidable force!

Among them was the most notorious figure to emerge in recent years—Dekses, a Rank Four powerhouse from the Luminara Civilization.

Standing before Dekses was a peculiar blue-skinned creature with an elongated head, his gaze fixed on the heart of the battlefield with a trace of concern.

This blue-skinned being was not a mercenary, but the regional head of the Arriba Interstellar Chamber of Commerce for this star domain.

It was this very individual who had personally invited Dekses all the way from the Luminara Civilization.

As a regional head, this blue-skinned being possessed Rank Six strength.

Without Rank Six strength, one could not hope to take on such a role.

Even a moderately powerful band of interstellar pirates could obliterate their interests.

On top of that, their trade spanned multiple star domains and civilizations, making the risks even greater.

The blue-skinned creature frowned and muttered, “The Arriba Interstellar Chamber of Commerce has always remained neutral. Even when two civilizations are at war, we trade with both sides without batting an eye. The Gallant Federation still trades with us as well... Should I intervene at a time like this, or pretend I saw nothing?”

“You already know the answer, don’t you?” Dekses replied, adjusting his combat outfit.

If this Rank Six blue-skinned creature truly did not know the answer, he would not be agonizing over it now. He could have simply followed the Arriba Interstellar Chamber of Commerce’s founding principles.

“Lord Chaofeng is the honorary chairman of Arriba. Rumor has it that he holds the largest share of the entire organization. If I turn a blind eye today and allow his niece to die here, my days as regional head are over. Lord Chaofeng would never forgive me,” the blue-skinned creature wailed.[1]

“Poor me... It has been nearly ten thousand years since I last fought anyone. I just hope that Rank Six savage from Arid Expanse World won’t cleave me in two with his ax,” he lamented.

Rank Six creatures varied greatly in strength.

This blue-skinned, long-headed being had spent so long immersed in commerce that he had nearly forgotten how to fight.

Yet, he had no choice but to grit his teeth and move forward. Offending Chaofeng would mean the end of his career within the Arriba Interstellar Chamber of Commerce.

Moreover, as part of the organization’s leadership, this Rank Six creature knew that although Arriba publicly maintained neutrality, it subtly favored the Magus Civilization.

The sheer volume of trade conducted with Magus Civilization over the past tens of thousands of years alone made that bias clear.

“I’m going in. You had better not hesitate for too long. The Magus Civilization will not abandon this place. Have we not already received word that massive legions from the Shadowbat Civilization front are rushing here as well?”

With those words, Dekses transformed into a beam of light and shot straight toward the heart of the battlefield.

“Hey, don’t you dare die out there. I promised your uncle I’d bring you back safely to the Luminara Civilization,” the Rank Six blue-skinned creature called out after Dekses.

Dekses did not respond.

After another long moment of hesitation, the blue-skinned creature finally steeled himself. He drew his long-unused weapon—a world-class secret treasure known as the Long Pike.

“May these old bones of mine withstand that guy’s Lightning Ax. The Magus Civilization legions had better hurry,” he muttered with a final sigh, before charging toward the vortex at the heart of the battlefield.

Whether it was the Rank Six creature’s desperate wish that took effect or a mere coincidence, no one could say.

Just as he reached the battlefield’s heart to assist White Stella in fending off the peak Rank Six powerhouse, massive Magus Civilization reinforcements finally arrived at the edge of the vast stellar battlefield!

The leader of this Magus Civilization force was none other than Feylis, a Rank Six mage!

1. Translator’s Note: Chaofeng is the third son of the Dragon King in Chinese mythology, known for his adventurous and curious nature, as well as his fondness for high places. He is often depicted as a dragon with phoenix-like wings, and his statues are traditionally placed along rooftops to ward off evil spirits and guard against disasters. ☜
