Chapter 1667: Turn Against

Sein soon noticed the eight-winged angel’s strange behavior.

The battlefield itself was not particularly large, and with the help of his Faceless Mask, Sein could easily grasp the overall situation.

The Viridescent Seeds he had scattered earlier had now all grown into colossal plant monsters.

These towering giants lumbered forward, locked in fierce combat with the Gallant Federation’s robots.

“He grew soldiers out of beans?” Hanliu exclaimed in surprise when he noticed what Sein had done.

Similar techniques existed within the Immortal Realm Civilization.

They were most commonly used by Daoist sects and immortal courts.

In the Immortal Realm, however, they were known as “Immortal Beans” instead of “Viridescent Seeds”.

The two civilizations seemed to share more than a few similarities; perhaps this was shaped by influences from a shared history.

While the plant giants clashed with the federal robots, Sein paused briefly before retrieving his Magic Cube.

The cube was brimming with power and on the verge of another upgrade.

Although it had gained several new functions recently, Sein had not originally planned to deploy it in battle.

Yet Fermera’s state stirred something in him.

As the cube’s master, Sein had noticed the subtle changes taking place within Fermera’s body.

It seemed that the last time he had used the cube against her had produced an effect after all.

Although Fermera had not yet betrayed the Gallant Federation, she was clearly experiencing a form of cognitive dissonance—a sign that true self-awareness and independent consciousness were beginning to awaken.

“When I subverted Nexon’s intelligent robots, I had to run three programs to break their core control codes. Back then, the Magus Civilization even entrusted me with a light orb,” Sein murmured.

“The Gallant Federation must have installed some sort of firewall within Fermera. Her awakened consciousness alone won’t be enough to set her free... In that case, I’ll lend her a hand,” he decided, unfurling his demonic wings wide across the sky.

The Magic Cube materialized within Sein’s demonic claw.

Bathed in the pale glow of the Ashen Flame, the cube radiated a brilliant blue-violet light, shrouded in an air of mystery.

As Sein thrust the world-class secret treasure forward, a beam shot out, streaking straight toward Fermera.

The ray carried no lethal intent. In fact, it looked like nothing more than an ordinary beam of light.

Still locked in close combat with Sein, Bond sensed danger and tried to intercept the attack, only to be forced back by a barrage of beams unleashed from the Faceless Mask.

Meanwhile, the eight-winged angel showed no sign of alarm at Sein’s sudden “sneak attack.” She simply stood rooted in place, waiting to be struck by the blue-violet beam.

The ray passed cleanly through Fermera’s body. Outwardly, she appeared completely unharmed.

But the true change was happening within.

“Oh no!” Bond’s face went pale as he finally grasped what was happening.

He had read Sein’s profile and knew about his success in subverting Nexon’s intelligent robots.

What the Gallant Federation had never clarified, however, was how Sein had done it—and Bond himself had never known the details either.

Yet in this moment, Bond could more or less grasp his method.

Sure enough, after being struck by the Magic Cube’s beam, Fermera abruptly froze.

The metallic wings behind her folded inward, and she slowly descended from the sky.

Still holding the cube, Sein studied the eight-winged angel before him with a trace of uncertainty.

After undergoing an upgrade, the cube’s capabilities now far surpassed what they had been during his previous battle with Fermera.

And yet, even now, it still seemed unable to fully break the code restrictions embedded within her system.

Sein chose to push the cube’s power to its absolute limit since he had already brought it out.

Standing at the center of the battlefield, the treasure in Sein’s hand erupted once more with blinding radiance.

This time, the beams it released shot straight toward the tens of thousands of angel robots spread across the battlefield.

Now, it was not only Bond who sensed something was wrong. Other federal agents and genetically modified super soldiers nearby felt it as well.

The lower-tier Gallant Federation robots caught within the cube’s light froze in place, as if turned to stone.

Moments later, the crimson electronic glow in their pupils gradually shifted to blue.

The newly awakened angel robots exchanged glances, while others bent down to inspect their own bodies.

“Has the awakening rate increased as well? That looks like nearly one hundred percent awakening... Or is it because these angel robots are constructed differently from Nexon’s intelligent models?” Sein mumbled to himself as he watched the scene unfold before him.

Although Sein had instantly awakened their intelligence, these angel robots were not yet under his command.

Deep within their CPU cores, the federal scientists had installed specialized firewall systems.

Only by fully breaching those defenses could Sein truly convert them into his minions.

Even so, the current results were already more than encouraging.

The disoriented angel robots could no longer support the federal agents in their assault on Sein and his group.

At the same time, the agents who had been participating in the siege also grew wary of the sudden change in the angel robots.

Instead of pressing the attack, they hesitated and began to retreat in all directions.

Meanwhile, deep within the Gallant Federation’s rear star domain, Syphen suddenly looked up from his work as a shrill red alert echoed through his laboratory’s control panel.

Syphen was currently leading a specialized team in deciphering the mysteries contained within the body of an overlord-class android.

The android technology of the Norman Federation under the Magus Civilization could essentially be described as advanced robotic engineering, heavily integrated with biological and genetic sciences.

And who possessed the deepest expertise in robotics within the Gallant Federation?

Syphen would point his thumb at himself without the slightest hesitation.

He was one of the federation’s foremost scientists, widely regarded as having the greatest potential to create an overlord-class robot.

In the past, Michaelis Bell had been both a scholar and a friend Syphen deeply admired. Hearing of Bell’s death in battle had once filled Syphen with genuine grief and regret.

There was a time when the scientists who had worked in Pavlov’s laboratory would gather over meals, exchanging ideas and debating their ideals.

Now, such reunions had become increasingly rare, with each of them buried under endless workloads.

Wartime, in particular, had made the federation’s scientists busier than ever.

The sudden wail of the alarm shattered Syphen’s train of thought, leaving him deeply irritated.

Deciphering the secrets of an overlord-class android was a challenging task.

Syphen had been working on the android’s wreckage for quite some time, yet his progress had been far slower than he had anticipated.

What infuriated him even more was the relentless pressure from the federation’s high command and the military.

They behaved as if the frontlines would collapse the moment his experiments failed.

That constant, invisible pressure had deprived Syphen of a single night of restful sleep for a very long time.

Just as Syphen was on the verge of erupting in fury, about to order his assistants and junior researchers to shut off that damned, shrill alarm—he froze.

His eyes locked onto the alert now flashing across the control panel’s main display.
