Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station-Chapter 732 - 220 Thoughts
Chen Ming drifted through the superspace with Cheng Xinghai for a while.
Only after the civilian passenger ship had completely disappeared from sight did Chen Ming’s own spaceship slowly fly to his side.
As soon as he entered the spacecraft, Chen Ming immediately attempted to unlock the special terminal he had taken from Cheng Xinghai’s hands.
But Chen Ming quickly discovered that he could not unlock it.
It wasn’t that there was an uncrackable password; it simply wouldn’t open, even his spiritual energy could not affect it.
It seemed that its purpose was merely to be taken away, restricting Cheng Xinghai from using it, rather than to steal information from it.
Chen Ming thought this made sense, given that the device itself was outside the normal parameters.
If he could see some important information broadcasted on their channel, the other side might as well not bother fighting.
So Chen Ming put away the terminal and then found a vacant, private room in the spacecraft to throw Cheng Xinghai into.
After turning Cheng Xinghai’s protective suit back into liquid, Chen Ming replaced it with a lighter pair of handcuffs.
He also altered the room’s structure, removing any exposed sharp objects or metal walls to prevent Cheng Xinghai from attempting suicide.
A live person is certainly more useful than a dead one.
Throughout this process, Cheng Xinghai was quietly observing, but she made no significant moves.
Even when arranged in this room by Chen Ming, she just silently sat in the corner.
Her head lowered, arms hugging her knees, not saying a word, looking closed off.
Only her body seemed to tremble slightly.
Chen Ming glanced at her, watched as his armor gradually liquefied and disappeared, then turned and left the room.
However, Chen Ming did not go far; instead, he continued to observe Cheng Xinghai through a one-way transparent window in the door, similar to those in the corridors of the earlier civilian ship.
After a while, Cheng Xinghai was still sitting in the corner, but the trembling in her right leg became increasingly pronounced.
Chen Ming pondered for a moment, then took out the thin steel needle he had seized from Cheng Xinghai.
To prevent any possible toxins, Chen Ming dismantled the steel needle and threw the materials into the storage compartment.
He then crafted an identical new steel needle and lightly pricked his fingertip.
The sharp sting on his fingertip reminded Chen Ming that the simulated pain was no different from reality.
Just like when smoking, the burning sensation in his lungs felt exactly like in reality.
No wonder they install so much monitoring equipment where people lie down for deep-consciousness dives, being pain-killed would be quite disgraceful.
Chen Ming cast a glance at Cheng Xinghai, whose right ankle was noticeably skewed, her whole demeanor appearing to endure pain.
He then opened the onboard storage panel.
This spacecraft was cobbled together from others he’d seized, and some items from their storage compartments were also transferred here.
Chen Ming searched a bit and found a few medications and two splints, placing them before Cheng Xinghai.
He then furnished Cheng Xinghai’s room with chairs and a bed for rest, and from the storage, retrieved an unopened set of pillows and blankets.
After considering what living essentials might be needed, Chen Ming installed a TV projection screen on the wall.
Then he directly connected it to the local public signal, and when a certain pink pig appeared on the screen, Chen Ming hastily turned it off.
"How come there’s such an old program in the simulation."
Chen Ming noticed Cheng Xinghai slightly raising her arms around her knees, covering her face, not sure if she was laughing or doing something else.
He shook his head.
He did this mainly because he wasn’t sure about the conditions arranged for prisoners of war at this time.
Knowing nothing, he could only mimic the standards of a prison he was familiar with.
At least with a TV, one wouldn’t have to endure being holed up in this little room for a whole month.
If Chen Ming were captured for a month unable to do anything, that would be no different than torture.
After setting up these things for Cheng Xinghai,
Chen Ming took out his special terminal and asked on the communication channel: "Are injuries like fractures fatal in the simulation?"
Song Pu immediately inquired on the channel: "Are you injured? Take care of it and come back to find a doctor as soon as possible. Even a fracture can worsen if delayed too long, and you might not even know how you died."
"Understood."
Chen Ming set down the terminal, looking at the completely immobile Cheng Xinghai, who wasn’t inclined to treat herself, feeling a sudden headache.
If Cheng Xinghai had been successfully assassinated by him in the beginning, dead, there wouldn’t be so many complications.
But since Chen Ming managed to capture her alive, it was impossible for him to simply kill her for convenience.
However, Cheng Xinghai had already made it clear before being captured that she would commit suicide to prevent causing trouble for her teammates, so asking her to treat herself was likely out of the question.
Thus, Chen Ming picked up his terminal again and typed: "Is Bai Quan there?"
Chen Ming did not send it immediately but waited.
