Space Odyssey: Spectre-Chapter 207: Elder Church Sixth Floor
He readied himself at the elevator door as it opened. Before it was even fully opening the turret was firing. Jace flinched back in surprise and then peaked out in time to see one of the enemies that were waiting outside the elevator dropping to the ground with a large ashy hole in his chest.
Jace moved out of the elevator walking over the corpses of the enemy soldiers. He arrived at the hallway and could pick up voices in the distance. Unfortunately his translator was not able to pick them up, only his enhanced senses could hear them. They speak in one of the many languages that the Victorium have.
So it was useless to eaves drop on them for the moment. But knowing that a group of enemy soldiers were in that direction was useful information itself. Especially since they were looking for some enemies to interrogate.
Jace waved at Josef and Uti pointing in the direction he could hear the voices. They moved quietly down the hallway while checking another hallway they passed for enemies. After a few minutes they arrived outside the door where they could now hear several voices.
He looked over at Josef and Uti. Josef was aiming further down the hall watching for enemies. While Uti was aiming behind them covering for enemies. Jace stepped up to the door and it slid open with a touch of the keypad.
Before it even fully opened he was moving into the room. Inside were seven enemies. Five of them were standing around a table with what looked like hexagonal cards. So possibly some type of came. The other two were standing at an open window with a sniper set up. One of them was holding the sniper, the other was just looking and talking.
Jace kicked the table they were playing cards on top of. He then slammed the butt of his Wildfire assault rifle into one of the enemy’s faces. Jace then elbowed another enemy. Meanwhile Josef, charged shoulder first right into another one, sending them flying into a wall. Uti jumped on the lap of the next one who was bewildered by what was going on but then he was curling on the ground as Uti used his weapon as a blunt object to hit the enemy repetitively.
The last one that was sitting around the table raised his hands in surrender. But Jace then looked to the snipers that were by the window. He had intentionally kicked the table in their direction to disorient them. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
It resulted in the sniper getting pushed out of the window along with the table. While the one that was standing next him was just hit by the table so they were only knocked down. They were begging to get up so Jace walked up to them and grabbed them by the helmet armor and slammed their head into the ground.
Jace then turned around to see that they had disarmed and were corralling the others to a wall. Except for the one that Jace had hit with the butt of his rifle. That one was still alive but unconscious.
Jace grabbed the one he had just knocked out by the leg and began dragging him over and then tossed him by his friends who were holding up their hands and standing with their backs to the wall.
"Disarm the last two," Jace told them as he moved to the door and then glanced both ways before closing it. Then after a few seconds of hardwiring the door it was sealed from the inside so no one outside could open it up. "That should keep anyone out for a bit."
"We have two unconscious. One fell out the window, so he is probably dead. Then there are the last four, fully conscious and disarmed." Uti informed Jace as he turned around. "Who should we start with?"
Jace walked up to one of the Accer Elder Council soldiers. "Okay, one of you is going to tell me what I want to know. The others will probably end up dead so," Jace grabbed the soldier by the neck and walked to the window. "Where is the location of the AI core that is connected to the building?"
"Human scum! We all know your species is weak! You would not dare to harm a-" Before the Accer even managed to finish his very loud claim, Jace whipped his arm and the Accer went flying out of the building. Falling far away from anything he could even hope of grabbing onto. "Aarrgghh!"
Jace then turned back around and walked to the last three conscious prisoners they had. He did not even get a chance to speak before all three of them pointed to one of the unconscious prisoners. They then began speaking quickly but Jace’s translator device could not pick it out so he could not understand any of them. He did pick out a few words like ’Elder’, ’Control Room’, and ’Commander’.
"Woah! Stop! One at a time!" Jace told them and then pointed at a Mar’talic. "You start."
The Mar’talic nodded, "lower level grunts like ourselves were not given permission to know anything. The only ones who know are the commander and his second-in-command who you just threw out the window."
Jace looked out the window for a second before looking back towards the last three conscious enemies. Then he looked to the unconscious ones. "Which one of them is the commander?" Jace asked them with a wave of his hand.
All three of them pointed to a Mar’talic who was unconscious. Jace sighed and looked at Uti and Josef. Uti nodded, "yeah... I can wake him up." He informed Jace as he stepped forward, "this might take a few minutes."
"Okay, while he is doing that. You are going to tell me what you do know." Jace informed them. One of them looked like they were about to speak to no doubt remind him that they knew nothing. "There has to be some part of the building that has been far more protected or had people moving to. So where has that been happening?"
"There are a few spots where they ordered us to avoid. Like the elevators, the stairways, and the main council floor that was a floor up. But nothing else really pops out, what do you guys think?" One of them asked the other two.
"I heard the commander and sub commander talking about a main operations center." Another of them told him. "That might be what you are looking for."
"It could also be-"
"Shut up you cowardly *^(&^! I will not tolerate you turning traitor on our mighty Elders." The one that he knocked out with the butt of his assault rifle began screaming after he was woken up by Uti and realized what his subordinates were discussing.
The translation device might not have been able to translate it but Jace could understand that it was a creature that humans had never seen or had a translation for. Jace looked over at the awoken commander. He walked towards him while waving at Josef, "See what you can get out of these four." Jace told him.
Josef nodded and stepped forward to begin talking to the other prisoners. Uti moved over to the other unconscious enemy and woke them up. Then brought them over to the others and they began interrogating the entire group.
Jace crouched next to the enemy commander who was on the ground. "I am going to be honest, I am only going to ask twice. After that the pain might be too much for you to even stay conscious."
"Human!" The Mar’talic commander growled at him. "I will not insult either of us by speaking! I will never betray my people!"
Jace nodded, "I will admit that is admirable. But unfortunately you will talk," Jace reached forward and put his hand on the enemy’s soldiers then he ran an electrical current through the enemy’s body. Focusing more on it moving through the enemies nervous system.
"Argghh!" The Mar’talic began making noises of pain trying to stop himself from screaming. There was no visible damage, but internally the man’s internals were by fried just short of killing him. After a few seconds he stopped and let the enemy recover their breath. After a few deep breaths the Mar’talic looked up, "what were your questions?"
Jace smiled under his helmet, "I want to know the locations of the Elders, wherever the AI Core you have plugged into the building is located, as well as any other points of interest like their escape routes." Jace informed the Mar’talic while continuing to hold the enemy’s shoulder.
"I know nothing about their escape routes. Only their personal guards know about those. There are three of the Elders in this building, as far as I know the others are off-world. As for the AI Core, I have no idea what it is but our main operations center is on this floor. I can give you directions." The enemy Mar’talic commander explained.
