Space Odyssey: Spectre-Chapter 495: So the Spectre Kicked the Bartender.
Pain.
That was what he was feeling. He was deeply embedded in the pile of rubble. With a giant white lance sticking out of his shoulder. It went all the way through his armor’s plating and to the other side.
He remembered what happened. It was so quick he only reacted on instinct. Tilting his body so quickly he tweaked a few of his spinal bones. But he could tell they had already repaired themselves. What was more concerning was the giant lance that was protruding from his body.
He reached up with his right hand and grabbed the white lance. Slowly pulling it out of his shoulder. He could have pulled it quickly except it was still trying to push him back. The only reason it could not was because it had lost momentum. That angel must have had the lance flying quickly before bringing it through the portal.
There was a loud creak as he fully pulled the lance out of his left shoulder and tossed it away. It bounced harmlessly off the ground with a new dent just ahead of the blood that adorned the tip of the lance. It had happened when he pulled the lance out, he had to grip it so hard the metal and dented.
After removing the lance he could start to feel his left arm as the hole started to patch up. "Solisa... I am evoking the Kitinol Accords." Jace spoke over the Victorium Command channel and he could hear the chaotic orders being given out stop suddenly.
"Colonel Jace. Are you sure? Despite my resentment, these things are not mindless." Solisa responded.
Jace slowly pulled himself up. He reached back and pulled off what remained of his Wildfire Assault Rifle from his back. It had been completely destroyed. Fortunately his Magnus was still fine. Although he seems to have lost all of his spare ammunition so he only had the six bullets that were already loaded into it. His last weapon, the experimental railgun rifle was back where he had been hit away from by the lance and angel. It had a magazine of bullets left in it.
"I am. Give me a moment to catch my breath and then broadcast my message galaxy-wide on all possible channels. Interrupting other channels if necessary. Besides, the enemy does not have to be something that is mindless, it just has to create enough justification to invoke the Accords." Jace explained as he slowly pulled himself up. He was buried in a tunnel of rubble, so it would not be difficult to get out. But it was difficult to stand.
"I see... very well." Solisa answered.
Jace gripped his left hand as feeling returned. His shoulder and in turn his arm had completely healed. But there was still a hole in his armor where his tattooed shoulder was visible. He slowly moved forward as he dodged to the side and the lance flew past him back out of the tunnel.
"This is Colonel Jace Hex of the Cerberus Mobile Response Unit of the Victorium. I am evoking the Kitinol Accords. We have encountered a new species that has carved a path through the Holy Empire claiming to have exterminated everything living in their way. All soldiers of any nation currently on Yuri are to fall under my command until further notice. All wars currently underway are to stop immediately and representatives should appear at the Princess’ Pride Colony Station as soon as possible." Jace cut off the transmission as he launched forward.
No longer holding back he moved like a missile out of a barrel going from the tunnel to the overcast so quickly that he barely had time to draw his sword as it materialized. His shoulder tattoo was glowing as he suddenly appeared in front of the angel who had become more armored since last time. There were also several weapons floating around them while they were holding the lance.
It was looking in his direction when he arrived like a bolt of lighting and struck with as much force as he could physically exert. The downward slash was blocked by the lance and then the angel slammed into the ground with her weapons following her after a second.
The angel landed on her feet but still made divots in the ground and stone as she flew back further before eventually stopping as she slammed into what remained of the fountain that used to be a chaotic battlefield. But it had gone silent again. Mostly because when Jace struck the angel an arc of lightning had bounced from the diamond shaped drones and had destroyed them.
There was no reason for him to hold back against an enemy like this. "The message has been transmitted." Solisa informed him but he could already hear it on all of the communication channels as both Victor and the Valkyrie looked at him.
"Good." Jace took a deep breath as his sword that was glowing with blue electricity was lowered into a fighting stance. "All soldiers on Yuri- actually anyone capable of fighting on Yuri. Your new objective is the safety of all civilians on the planet. The Elysium and The Wolfsbane still stand. If you do not have a ship coordinate with them to find a place aboard those two ships. This is a full planetary evacuation, we cannot hold the planet and chances are any one left behind will be killed by the enemy." Jace cracked his neck as he deepened his stance. "That’s an order."
{You... a subspecies of human developed specifically to fight against us?} The angel pulled herself out of the rubble, her weapons still floating around her. But she was looking down at her lance that now had a giant slash on it. Which matched the scorch mark that covered the outside of her armor. {That blind but inventive species really did leave a lasting mark on the galaxy.}
"What do you say we work together this time?" Jace asked as Victor disappeared and reappeared on a pile of rubble nearby.
"That sounds like an interesting proposal. What about you Miss Valkyrie?" Victor asked as he stood precariously on the pile of rubble yet oddly appeared ready to fight.
"If my people have been crippled then I have no reason to refuse." The Valkyrie answered as she readied her weapon. The stance she was in was different from Jace’s own but was clearly more offensive in nature while Jace was using a more defensive style of swordsmanship.
"Good. Then we kill this thing and then work on evacuating the planet as much as possible. Nina and Dahlia, what is your status?" Jace switched to internal communications and added the two more familiar commanders to the same communication channel. They both flinched in surprise when it happened.
"Moving to secure Clan leaders who were in the midst of a meeting. They were hesitant at first when your call went out but are now cooperating." Nina’s automated voice responded. "After securing them we will start moving to large swaths of people and assisting them in escaping."
"The Elysium is heavily damaged and we have already been boarded twice. But we are matching them in space otherwise. With that being said. We either need backup or to retreat." Dahlia reported. "We cannot hold out forever."
"In that case. Figure out how long you can last and halve it. Once that timer runs out, evacuate. But make sure you transmit the time." Jace ordered. "Solisa, tell Admiral Dakota and General Isaiah to make a blockade and hold position outside of this system. There will be no point in them going up against them in those ships until they have been upgraded."
"Understood. We are also already taking on civilians. Should we worry about sorting the slaves from the vampires?" Solisa asked.
"No. They are all civilians without status until I say so." Jace answered as the angel shot forward toward him. She tried to stab him with the lance but he deflected the stroke with his sword so it slipped off and stabbed into the ground.
The Valkyrie tried to attack from the left side and was blocked by a longsword and a halberd. Victor attacked from the other side and was blocked by a scythe, a hammer, and a spear. There were two Victors, one was obviously an illusion and the hammer swung harmlessly through that one while the scythe and spear blocked his dual weapons. The angel looked taken aback before tilting forward like she was getting ready to counterattack. {Human you can’t-}
Jace kicked her in the chest in the middle of the start of her big speech. Her barriers broke as a sonic boom erupted from the impact and this time the angel flew upward and bounced off the top of the fountain’s rubble pile before crashing into a destroyed building. "Huh? What was that?" Jace asked loudly. "I couldn’t hear you over the sound of my boot kicking your ass!"
