Space Odyssey: Spectre-Chapter 509: Gathering of Kings III
"We encountered them at the edge of our territory when they took over a whole planet and in turn had control of that section of the system." Oda pulled out a clear screen and tapped on it showing the post-battle simulation of the space around Sakana Nine. "They did not actually bring any ships or massive equipment aside from a single weapon."
He tapped something else and a drawing of the weapon appeared. "We only have sketches from eye witnesses because the Cerberus Unit destroyed it and then took what remained for study. But this weapon was used to destroy not only several space craft but was also used to destroy an orbiting space station and one of the moons of Sakana Nine. As it is now there is a storm of debris orbiting the planet. This is our only first point as they seemed to spare only one for an initial invasion force."
"Excuse me a moment Emperor Oda." The High Priestess fiddled with a data pad and a clear schematic of the weapon appeared. "This is the preliminary assessment of the weapon as provided by Colonel Jace. He managed to piece together the design as much as possible and determined that the weapon and its power source as a whole utilizes at least four unknown materials or components that we can only theorize about."
"We know about three of those materials." Lesana announced as three of the items the High Priestess was talking about were highlighted. "One of them is only found for a few seconds after a black hole collapses. The other two are very specific materials that are only found on asteroids that travel between galaxies. You talked about them spending one but regardless of the wealth of a group all of those materials are incredibly rare and it would be a loss to lose them."
"Meaning there is a chance that one cannon was all they could spare?" The Oda Emperor asked in genuine surprise and then looked toward Aura. "What about you? You have been exposed to them before."
Aura’s bubbles fluctuated slightly. "Ancient Xenar AIs have but the Xenar never managed to get close enough to them or retook a planet with them on it. All they managed to do was repel the Daemon’s teleportation technology using electrical fields."
"I am sorry. Did you just say teleportation technology?" Quan Lee finally spoke up but this time in shock. "Please tell me the Victorium did not get their hands on that as well!"
"The Cerberus Unit and MILD have it but have refused to disclose anything regarding it. It seems like it is still out of our reach for the time being." The High Priestess answered honestly. Or at least as far as she knew. The truth was that both Jace and Taylor had come up with their own versions. But that was something they did not need to know.
"I am sure you understand that if we determine the Daemon’s are a threat-" The Oda Emperor started.
"We will share the basic schematic and a method to forcefully close the portals the Daemons open." The High Priestess agreed.
"How did they get to our galaxy if they did not use space craft?" The Montez King asked with a grunt as he seemed to start taking an interest in the topics. Partially because they could have a tactical advantage to studying them.
"Long range teleportation." The Oda Emperor answered and chuckled. "While the Cerberus Unit grabbed what they could, they could not hide the big ass structure that the Daemons were forcing my people to build." The Emperor took back control and switched the image to a giant uncompleted arc. "If I am right, I believe this was supposed to help open a stable portal from Sakana Nine to one of the Daemon’s worlds. The Daemons used an unstable portal to travel from their galaxy to our galaxy. Now I am only making an assumption but they probably need some specific information or details in order to commence that jump which is why they have not attempted it again."
"That and Colonel Jace destabilized a moon around that Daemon world after causing much damage and chaos. He said a calculation showed that the fallout would last for at least a year before they could start repairing and getting ready for another attack from that planet." The High Priestess explained.
"Are we sure this Cerberus Unit is not a problem? Their history might be short but their track record is spotless so far." Al-Han Jel of the Leonair Union pointed out. His ears twitched as he spoke and looked around.
"I am positive. Now then shall we discuss them a bit more or would you like to take a vote?" The High Priestess answered.
"I would actually like to discuss your battle footage if you can show it. If I am right, Colonel Jace managed to come face to face with their Sins and survived." Aura pointed out.
"Sins?" King Montez asked.
"Essentially it is their commanding or higher ranking officers." The High Priestess answered. "We do have footage. Plenty of it in fact. I believe the battlefield beyond the portal should suffice." She told them as footage of the battlefield from Jace’s helmet camera appeared. He could hear sucked in breaths and grumbles as they watched the footage.
"This footage has been slowed down." The Montez King pointed out.
"It had to be." Aura admitted. "For most people the speed and actions they are taking is too quick for normal combatants to keep up. Your Colonel Jace is truly a monster. Are all Spectres as physically gifted as he is?"
"Like most species they all have their specialties. Jace is particularly adept when it comes to chaos on the battlefield. Especially when he has to fight alone." The High Priestess explained. "But I believe Lesana and the Centuria could tell you what is going on."
"He is keeping the commanders at bay that would have broken through the line of defense he set up at the portal. This is a necessary method for only races that have command units or soldiers that are far more gifted than others. Spectres truly are worthy of being the Centuria’s counterpart... in so many ways." Lesana seemed to shiver after speaking.
"Okay... " Quan Lee looked at the all-female species representative in confusion before deciding to ignore her. "So to review their technology and special units is a problem for any one nation aside from the Victorium. We have proven that. Along with the fact that they can appear almost anywhere in our galaxy. I believe it is time for us to take a vote. If you would, High Priestess?"
The High Priestess stood up and slammed the butt of her spear on the ground. "All in favor of considering the Daemons a threat to the galaxy?" This time most of the hands went up. In fact only the High Executive did not raise a hand and realized that there was a slim chance the Daemons could be bargained with.
"Then it will be added on after we discuss the Nano Plague. The next topic is the Mortella." The High Priestess announced.
"I believe it would be more appropriate if we heard from the people who were present on Yuri before its untimely destruction. Starting with Colonel Jace just so he cannot attempt to change his story later." The Emperor of Oda announced as he quickly took over the speaking and the High Priestess sat back down. He then looked up at Jace who was on an upper floor. "Please join us Colonel Jace."
Jace nodded and walked around the upper floor until he walked down some stairs to a lower floor. Then he moved toward the table.
"Please stand there Colonel Jace." The Oda Emperor asked as he pointed out a spot near the table but not too close to any of the leaders. "Now then, Colonel Jace Hex. Start with your arrival in the Yuri system and why you were there."
Jace nodded his head before speaking. "Cerberus Mobile Response Unit was sent with the Elysium and another unit to dissect the Circle of Yuri before the Holy Empire managed to completely lay claim to the planet. We were sent in response to the Circle of Yuri’s support of the Nano Plague proliferation smuggling operations that we had stopped previously. So we went to detain high ranking members of the clans from the Circle of Yuri and stem the invasion wave from the Holy Empire if possible. We were only supposed to be the initial wave to get the foot in the door so a larger invading force could take the planet and establish a foothold in the system."
"That explains the legitimacy of your presence. You were gathering more witnesses and the culprits behind the attack." The Oda Emperor nodded. "I suppose there was also the Vexical Prime invasion but that was a shaky claim at best." He then waved his hand. "Please continue."
