Space Odyssey: Spectre-Chapter 518: Unlucky Thirteen I

"We are three minutes from arrival. We are still out of the Mortella’s sensor range." He heard Dahlia’s voice over the shipwide intercom.

"SUIT UP!" Jace called out as he carried his bag over to the wall. It was full of the gear he could not turn into tattoos or disposable weapons.

"Where is your suit? Or did the Victorium cheap out?" Gene Case asked with a scoff.

"Give it a second." Victor chuckled as he finished putting on his own full black armor. Which contrasted completely with the Valkyrie’s white and gold armor. "Out of all of us, he is by far the most prepared."

Jace flicked his arm and a blue glow enveloped his arm and quickly began spreading through his body. The blue glow was quickly replaced by his armor while the basic black combat gear with Cerberus patches seemingly disappeared. Switching places with the armor in storage. The armor is white on first look with a silvery metal taking place along the edges. While from a different angle his armor seemed to almost be a light blue or icy white. The only outstanding colors were the visor and the few lights on the armor which seemed to be an almost golden color with a tinge of orange.

"Damn..." Colvert mumbled under his breath.

Jace ignored them as he started to pull gear out of his bag and attached the pieces magnetically to his armor. Such as sliding the book into a secure pocket that was unlikely to get damaged. He pulled out the weapon he had decided to call a vibro-laser sword with it still in its sheath and placed it on his back.

Cain walked up next to him with a few armored pockets but that was about it. "Bartholomew Crystal, Colvert, and Sol Astro are all ready to attack with their mechs on the outside. As soon as we find a viable entrance for them they will move into the facility but will cover us as we drift to the station."

"Station? I thought we were going after the Mortella." Victor asked in surprise.

Jace seemed like he was just looking at his wrist tapping away at the air. But he was actually interacting with a screen that was only visible through his visor. "We are. They are docked at a low gravity shipbuilding station that they took over. The damages to their ship were too extensive for them to just stop anywhere."

"Makes sense. So we are dropping onto it while the three of them in their mechs make sure the ship can’t leave the dock. Is this ship not assisting us with the attack?" Jamal asked as he limped up to them. He was finishing putting on the last few pieces of his gear.

"No, we do not know exactly what their ship and their space craft are capable of. It is why it is crucial that the infiltration team find a way for the others to enter the ship so they are not exposed to the Mortella Armada for an extended period of time." Cain explained to them.

"Victor, Jamal, Ignius, and Shilla. You four are with me. Cain, Valkyrie, the Shinobi, Gene, and K. You four will be jumping second and following us inside. There will be a five second difference just in case." Jace informed them as they began forming up around him.

"Understood." K nodded her head. "But what is that blade on your back? I thought all of your melee weapons were stored in that tattoo tech. Not to mention where are your ranged weapons. The only thing I can see on you is a modified Pyre."

"Most of them are stored in the tattoos as well." Jace answered as he tapped his Pyre. "I did not have enough time to make all of my gear into things I can store in tattoos." He informed them as the hangar door began opening to reveal the form of slipspace they were in while the waverider engine was running.

"Was there no chance of acquiring this technology?" The shinobi asked.

"Not yet, I had only so much time to prepare for this." Jace answered as the intercom crackled again.

"One minute." Dahlia called out over the shipwide intercom.

"I know there was that briefing. But was there anything else you think we should expect?" Jamal asked as he walked forward as well.

"Nope. but they are also a new type of enemy so do not expect that information to be all of it. It would be best that you come into this battle expecting nothing and acting like you know nothing." Jace told them just as the slipspace disappeared and they moved into real space.

The moment it happened. Jace double checked their position before jumping through the atmospheric shielding and open space where a gravity well of the shipbuilding station began pulling him down. The other four followed him quickly while the mechs flew out of the hangar. Then the last five jumped out a few seconds later.

As he began falling through the space toward the top of the ship he could see several small slots open up and the diamond shaped drones began pouring out. "We have incoming enemy drones!" Jace called out over their communication channel as he spotted a shadow of something leave out the side of the Mortella ship just as The Elysium disappeared in a blue and white flash.

The others orientated themselves and began shooting at the drones as the first one reached Jace. But he just grabbed it as it fired a laser and crushed it in his hand before throwing it at another drone. The two of them collided in the air and exploded.

"What the hell is that!" They heard over the communication network and Jace looked up in time to see the Montez Mech be skewered by an enemy mech. Jace looked it over for only a moment before turning his attention back to the ship as he activated the gravity function of his boots in order to tether himself to the ground.

"I know we did not give you much in terms of pressure before. But I think it would be better for you to open a hangar or something else sooner rather than later." Colvert nervously chuckled over the channel. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Jace stomped forward as the rest of them began landing around him. "Understood. We will find a way to open up a hangar or do something else to help you." As he approached something that looked like a hatch he caught another drone and crushed it.

As he crouched down next to the hatch he could see through a separate camera from Cain as the mechs fought. The Hermes was matching the Mortella mech in terms of speed, but it seemed like it could only block and dodge. Colvert was staying clear while he repaired the Montez mech. Sol Astro was still alive inside the mech. But it seemed the Mortella mech had destroyed its main power core.

"Is it me? Or does that mech look familiar?" Colvert asked over the channel.

"That is because it is based on a Holy Empire design. Valkyrie, you should know more." Jace answered as he began hacking into the hatch to open it.

"We have a whole fleet of ships maneuvering around us. Colonel Jace, this is looking more like a trap!" K called out as they began forming up around him as he attempted to hack into the door. She was right though, the other ships seemed to maneuver around into firing positions around their command ship. They could be confident in their own ships’ defenses though.

"This is taking too long." Jace grumbled before pulling his sword off his back and channeling electricity into it. When he did it hummed with a gold glow before he slid it into the hinge of the hatch and cut through it. With his free hand he grabbed the edge and yanked upward.

There was a loud screech before the hatch went flying through the air and Jace was sliding down into the ship. His armor’s shielding triggered and glowed gold. He was flashing forward and swiping through a pair of Mortella that were shooting at him at close range. Their bodies released a yellow green gas before falling apart.

A moment later the other four in his team followed through but a few seconds later the rest of them did not follow as he could hear the sound of mechanical slamming and looked up the hole to see the hole was closed off.

"Cain come in?" Jace asked and all he got in response was static. He looked at the others that were part of his team. "Okay. Looks like we are separated. Just as I thought might happen." He turned to the others and then slid his vibro-laser sword back in its sheath.

"What is our priority?" Victor asked as he looked down the same hallway as smaller hatches opened up and the same diamond shaped drones began coming out and filling the hallway.

"Find and open up a space for the mechs to land." Jace answered.
