Space Odyssey: Spectre-Chapter 521: Unlucky Thirteen IV
Suffice to say. The magnetic cell he was in was gone. While he was perfectly fine the surroundings were not so much. The nearby people were not injured but had been thrown off their feet. While the systems and electronics were already starting back up.
Jace was honestly surprised. He did not expect that to work so well. After a few seconds he remembered where he was and ran toward his allies as he drew his sword. It sliced through the cuffs of Shilla who was slowly pulling herself up. Then as he made his way to the others he suddenly jumped to the side to dodge an attack from General Ariel who tried to slice him with a sword.
"Scatter. I will keep her here." Jace told them as he sheathed his sword and materialized one of his other swords in his hand. The vibro-laser sword was too fragile for direct combat. It was one of its major flaws.
Jace swung his katana in a horizontal slash but the attack was blocked by General Ariel’s longsword. Then before he could go for another attack he was flying backwards as an explosive force slammed into his chest and sent him flying. Crashing right through a set of doors and into the hall.
General Ariel arrived in a flash of green light before he recovered and was slashing downwards with both her sword and wings. Which was what hit him with such force before. He dematerialized his sword as he rolled to the side and barely dodged the massive force that slammed into the ground.
{Why do you assume your companions will survive? Did you forget that they are still in chains?} Ariel asked with a cackle as she took a second and swung her sword while she used her other hand to open a ripple up in space and pull out a round shield.
Jace chuckled as he bounced on the balls of his feet and held up his fists in a fighting stance. "I do not know what humans in other galaxies are like. But in this galaxy, every person is one scrappy son of a bitch who can fight even while in cuffs."
Ariel looked back over at the chamber. Just in time to see Jamal using another Mortella as a shield while using its weapon to shoot at the Mortella. {You-}
"Jamal! Get down!" Jace warned as he arrived next to Ariel and his hand slammed forward with a palm strike with all of his physical force behind the attack. There was a quiet explosion of wind as Ariel, who was looking at Jamal, went flying. The attack had hit her side and sent her sailing through the air and right over Jamal who dropped to the ground. He did not know exactly what was going on when Jace warned him. But he had been on enough battlefields to know to trust his teammates.
Jace dashed forward following Ariel as she flew through the center of the room and crashed right through the central console that the Mortella had put together. It was the temporary control center they were using. Probably to control and monitor the entire ship, or at least he hoped it was.
As he jumped over the console he sidestepped a mace attack from a Mortella with two sets of wings. He hit the Mortella’s hand and disarmed it, sending its mace up into the air before catching it and smashing it into the Mortella’s chest and sending them flying backwards and falling apart under the force of the attack.
The delay from the now deceased Mortella was enough for Ariel to get up and launch towards him. He caught her sword with his armored hand before it made contact. Barley held it less than an inch from his palm. While the mace he just acquired slammed into her shield and broke upon contact. Sending shards of the mace’s head in multiple directions. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Her wings moved over her body almost like they were liquid and struck at his chest. Almost like an extra pair of hands.
Jace slid back slightly as he felt the force of the attack connect with him. As he did he threw the remains of the mace at Ariel to throw her off before leaping forward and striking at her side with a punch. She turned slightly and blocked it with her shield while trying to stab him with her sword. But she skidded back along the ground and stopped just shy of some of the pods with foreign creatures inside of them.
Jace moved forward slowly as he could feel the energy in his body filling up again. He slowly coated his hand in the strange spiritual energy and electricity. As he did he could feel something almost line up.
Ariel looked between her shield, which had been heavily dented and damaged, and her longsword, which had a crack from that last exchange. It was almost unnoticeable but Jace snuck in a quick palm strike to the side of his shield. She tossed them to the side and grabbed the air to her side. The space cracked and opened up as she pulled her war hammer that she had used back on Yuri. {I suppose there is no point in holding back. Especially if my ship will be destroyed.}
Jace grinned as he noticed something and snapped his fingers sending a visible spark of electricity through the air and past Ariel. She watched it pass and looked at him in confusion while Jace moved back slightly and nodded back in her direction. {What did you-}
She stopped speaking as she heard beeping followed but a quick escape of air from an enclosed space. Then a golden and orange ichor flowed down past and around her legs. She slowly turned around to see a tube that was fifteen feet tall and six feet wide had opened slightly. Enough that any air inside had escaped and the ichor was flowing out.
The golden and orange ichor was the containment fluid that kept the creatures in a form of stasis. "Shilla, Victor, and Jamal! Are you three still here?" Jace called out as he looked between Ariel who lowered her hammer almost in shock. But Jace could feel that he might die if he attacked her right now, that was what his instincts were screaming at him.
"Yeah!" Victor answered. He and Jamal seemed to have already removed the cuffs.
"The mech team made it inside of the ship. Seems Cain opened up a path for them. I already sent you the directions. Follow it and group up with them. Collect and send out some information using their mechs if you can." Jace ordered as a claw grabbed the edge of the pod and scratched at the glass.
The claw was a dark black but seemed to almost shimmer with either a purple color or the color of space. He honestly could not tell which. Mostly because it felt his mind was playing tricks on him.
{You fool...} Ariel seemed to almost mumble. {You released it. I was only able to capture it because I found it sleeping. But now... now it is fully awake.} Ariel moved back and slightly away from both him and the pod as the pod was slowly pushed open to reveal a creature that made Jace’s every sense scream at him that it was not real.

Cain dropped down through the vent and onto one of the single winged Mortella that was standing guard in what was essentially the engine room. He bit into the Mortella’s shell and pulled to the side. Tearing open the containment unit of the Mortella. It quickly escaped in its gaseous form through a vent. But Cain did not care as he jumped forward toward the central console and spit out the piece of the Mortella.
There were seven other Mortellas in the room. Four of them had no wings, they seemed to be engineers or maintenance workers of some kind. Shinobi dropped down on top of one of the winged ones and sliced him in half with his sword before throwing a shuriken at another. It exploded upon contact and destroyed the other Mortella.
Five left. Gene fell from the roof clumsily but tackled one of the wingless Mortella before pressing the barrel of the shotgun against the Mortella’s midsection. "Take this sucker!" Bang! A quick explosion sent the pieces of the Mortella in several different directions.
Now there were four. As K fell through the ceiling she landed on the shoulders of one of the Winged Mortella and then pulled her sidearm to shoot one of the other Mortella before leaning over and slicing through the Mortella she was on top of.
The last two were by the door and instead of fighting they opened the door and went to run out. But a bunch of feathers flew through the door as something that almost looked like an angel stood in the way. The Valkyrie walked in as the remains of the last two Mortella collapsed to the ground. She left a hallway that was filled with drones and Mortella as well. "The hallway is cleared." She and the others all took up positions facing the door that had closed again.
"Good." Cain nodded as he started connecting to the ship’s central system. "We have arrived. Remember what I said." He told them as the door slid open.
