Spirit's Ascension-Chapter 53—Friend or Foe

Not just Cole, even the others felt their hearts sink deep into their chests.

They were all still struggling over one, and now they have to fight another one that looks just as strong.

Despite the weird timing, a thought suddenly popped up in Cole’s mind.

"Is it the only Life beast in this forest? why do I only encounter it?"

He had no answers to either of the questions he actually asked, but he was really curious as to why.

The battlefield froze for the moment. The only thing moving was the Life beast.

It was charging straight at Cole.

Cole watched as the beast approached with its usual feral face, even baring its teeth slightly.

"Could it be here for revenge? He thought, and inch by inch the beast got closer and closer.

In the blink of an eye, it reached Cole.

Zoom!

Cole heard in his ear as the beast rushed past him. instead it was charging Straight towards Simone, who was currently tangled with Bryan.

Cole was immediately surprised by the turn of events. But he was even more excited than he was surprised.

"Could it be here to help? But why?"

The beast finally arrived in front of Simone, and using its accumulated momentum, it sent a paw strike straight at Simone’s head.

Despite everyone’s shock, Simone, on the other hand, didn’t seem too shocked.

"Nature really does hate us," He said with a smile.

He then proceeded to respond with a punch of his own.

BAM!

Paw met fist, resulting in a large gust of wind flying out, slapping everyone in the face.

They both separated under the rebounding force of the impact, and the moment they landed, the difference became clear.

The Life beast actually ended up on the shorter leg, and the gap wasn’t by a little.

Observing this made Cole worry quite a bit. If Even the Life beast was so much weaker, how could they survive then?

Bryan already used the chance to slip away, creating some distance.

"Hahahaha, time to go all out, you guys are really shameless ganging up on just me," He shouted.

His body then began expanding, not ballooning like his partner previously was.

Instead, his dark veins began growing increasingly larger while his expression grew more grotesque.

Using his Eyes of Scrutiny, Cole observed the dark energy in Simone expanding rapidly.

Its source was spinal and extremely fast, releasing more and more dark energy directly into Simone’s body.

But upon closer inspection, another point arose.

The fast increase in dark energy had resulted in something else. It resulted in slight instability in the energy.

Though very slight, it was enough for Cole, who planned to capitalize on that point.

But Cole completely underestimated the strength increase Simone just got.

His previous overbearing battle style had become even more domineering.

He set his eyes on the newly arrived Life beast and rushed towards it.

The beast attempted to retreat and repackage, but Simone was just too fast. He caught the beast off guard.

Then grabbed onto its tail and directly tore it off in one smooth pull.

"ROARRRR!" The beast roared out in pain.

Cole’s pupil dilated as he watched the sight in front of him unfold.

Simone looked towards Cole, resulting in him taking a step back, but it appeared like he was intentionally avoiding Simone.

He moved his gaze away to look for a new target, and in his new line of sight was Linda.

Linda’s fiery personality was currently absent; she was in a hyperfocused mode.

The hyperfocused mode didn’t help her, though, as Simone appeared in front of her and with one swing almost completely crushed her shoulder.

"Haaaaa," Linda shouted out, resulting in Cain growing furious.

"How dare you," He forcefully said despite being injured.

Just above his head, what appeared to be a legion took shape, each flaming construct holding a large bow.

Upon activation, all members of the legion released a flaming arrow. The flaming arrows numbered in the hundreds, all of them brutally heading towards Simone.

Everyone watched the arrows arrive above Simone. Simone only performed one response.

He placed both his arms around his chest alone, leaving his other body parts uncovered.

Arrow by arrow, they hit Simone all over, some digging into his flesh while others just left burned marks.

But he pressed on; even the injuries he was receiving were actively healing almost instantaneously.

Everyone wasn’t even shocked anymore by the outrageousness, but a thought lingered in their heads, though.

"His chest."

Following that, the not too severely injured ones all exchanged looks and prepared for another round of attacks.

Cole and Moses were the first to attack.

They approached Simone in close combat with surprising synchrony and began using their abilities.

Moses used an ability that seemed to grant him extremely elevated physical stats, while Cole used the flaming fist.

Along with the advanced Combat technique, Moses sent out barrages of attacks at Simone’s chest, hoping to breach his defenses.

Lucius followed closely behind, utilizing the technique Cole had previously observed.

He sent out continuous spear stabs all directed at one point and then with an increasing amount of Force.

The rest also took turns attacking, all aimed at that spot, but all of their efforts were thwarted.

None of them could breach that defense. All except one had given it their all.

Bryan was slightly further away from the group with a conflicted expression on his face.

The rest were too occupied or injured to even bother with him.

"Should I do it?"

"It will drain me for a long time," he thought as he watched his allies attempt it without any effect.

He made up his mind. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

"I must," he said with a resolute expression.

The moment he made that, an invincible thread appeared from his mind and connected to the others around him.

As if their mind were linked with a mysterious method.

"Can you guys hear me?" Everyone heard in their head.

The whole vibe suddenly changed as everyone stared straight at Bryan.

"WHAATTT!" Cole also called out.
