Spirit's Ascension-Chapter 75—Limits
The thought began to spiral in Cole’s mind. Moments like this are the side effects of Cole’s analytic mind.
Before he could take things out of the current state and overthink.
He was dragged out of his mind by the seniors’ voice again.
"Three-star Innate Spirits are much stronger than normal people like us could fathom,"
Then Cole’s mind was jolted out of its state. He realized a point he hadn’t thought of before.
"I haven’t tried checking out Three-star Innate spirit abilities before,"
"Could that be the reason?"
"And Come to think of it, they are even said to be Resonant-Level Spiriters,"
"Everything about them seems stronger than I am,"
"That could be the reason,"
Having made that conclusion, Cole’s mind calmed down again.
"I need the chance to confirm my hypothesis then," he decided.
Cole looked beside him to check out the third-year student and maybe even thank him for the advice.
He wasn’t expecting to see the senior and even everyone else standing on their feet with widened pupils.
That made Cole quickly turn his head back to the ring.
The sight on the stage was vastly different from what Cole expected.
The stage was covered in large pillars of Lighting, they completely covered every part.
From within the pillars of lightning, Cole could faintly see Jack moving all about, trying to dodge the attacks, but they were all still futile.
He was struck time after time by the lightning pillars, allowing him to scream out in pain.
Just when everyone thought the battle was about to come to an end, an even greater switch occurred.
From within the lightning, Jack screamed out and began increasing in size.
His muscles looked as if they were being blown into size by something.
If Cole had observed closely, he would have noticed dark tendrils of energy slightly emanating from him before disappearing again.
With a surge of energy, he charged straight out and arrived in front of Darius in the blink of an eye.
He sent a large fist flying towards Darius’s head. Darius had been completely focused on his last attack, so he wasn’t able to react on time.
The punch arrived so fast, he couldn’t even resist.
And as expected, Darius was immediately knocked out under the impact of the punch.
The arena grew extremely quiet for a while, everyone at a loss on how to react to the situation.
They were all ready to see Darius win, but the situation suddenly switched, and now Jack was the one standing and Darius was unconscious.
"Wooooo." Someone snapped out of it and shouted out.
The shout dragged the rest of their state into the large shout.
They all began shouting Jack’s name with surprising vigor.
"Brawler! Brawler! Brawler!"
Cole felt quite shocked by the crowd’s switch. They were just about to celebrate Darius’s victory, but they quickly changed the moment Jack won.
"People really are bootlickers," He said while shaking his head.
Cole felt quite saturated by the events of that night, so he decided to leave.
"I will be coming back here regularly," Cole said while he stood up to leave.
He bowed slightly to the senior while he passed by and left the arena.
With as light steps as he could, Cole headed back to his hostel as fast as he could.
After a while on the trek, he arrived back in the room.
Cole lay on the bed while thinking back to his experience of that night.
"I can’t seem to record 3-star abilities," he thought.
That was a new rule he just realized about the Codex, which he made sure to keep at the back of his mind.
One at a time, the rules of the Codex began formulating in his mind too.
The short moment of that evening had exposed Cole to quite a lot.
He had a few suspicions previously, but now they were slowly solidifying.
The stronger-level Spiriters are capable of influencing the environment to varying degrees.
That realization was extremely terrifying since it came along with a lot of possibilities.
"If they could cause such a change at Resonant-level what would they cause at higher levels?"
That was his first realization, which shocked him slightly.
"If two Spiriters with similar powers had a battle, won’t the more advanced one almost completely suppress the other?"
"The less talented are destined to be oppressed," He concluded.
Cole slowly fell deep into his mind as his consciousness faded, and he fell asleep.
The next day arrived in the blink of an eye; Cole, along with Bryan, went to school like they were supposed to.
Cole wasn’t too surprised to see Sylvester absent from class the next day.
"The academy will surely enact some sort of punishment on him," Cole thought while shaking his head.
The moment he was done with the day’s class, Cole immediately headed to the Arena ready to continue his search for a suitable ability.
But he was disappointed; he wasn’t able to get anything that interested him that day.
Cole continued like that for the next few days, heading from Class directly to the arena, resulting in some suspicion from Bryan.
"Is there something that suddenly attracted you to the Arena?" Bryan couldn’t help but ask that evening.
Cole already thought of what to say a long time ago, so he wasn’t caught off guard at all.
"I find it interesting, seeing so many abilities and even combat forms,"
"Using it all for some research for my personal training," Cole said in a smooth and even slightly practiced tone.
That specific day, Cole was already feeling quite discouraged about the Arena.
He had gone there so many times, but he couldn’t find any abilities that suited him.
So he decided to go check it out for the last day before giving up and waiting for the chance to display itself.
Cole headed to the Arena with much hope and bouncy feet. The closer he got, the more excited he even felt.
This feeling was familiar to Cole; it was how he felt when he found Kinetics Acceleration.
"This must be a good sign," he said while entering the Arena.
Before even attempting to go to the seat, Cole looked straight at the ring to see the battle.
"Bingo," he said softly while a smile appeared on his face.
