Chapter 78: Chapter 78—Preparations

The storm chaser, the referee, and the crowd all froze at that moment.

"I give up" kept reverberating all around the arena.

No one could believe what was going on. Just a few moments ago, Cole was extremely arrogant and talking down to a senior; then he switched to escaping all around, and now he has suddenly given up.

"Are you sure?" the referee asked again in shock.

But Cole maintained his neutral smile while nodding at the referee.

"Yes, I am."

The referee still hesitated for a bit; in all his days of refereeing, he hadn’t experienced anything like that, so he didn’t really know how to react.

But after a moment, the referee regained his composure and got ready to announce.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, there you have it, And the winner is Stormchaser again."

The crowd didn’t even bother to scream or cheer; they only sat on their seats while staring at what was going on blankly.

After the referee finally declared his loss at the end, Cole smiled and quietly turned around to leave.

He didn’t try to attract any attention or do anything weird; he just took a step at a time towards the exit of the Arena.

Everyone followed his movement with his eyes, like they were escorting him.

Stormchaser also stood in his position in the ring, not knowing how to react.

Cole just humiliated him publicly just as he was able to get his revenge. Cole suddenly gave up and was now leaving.

"He had a plan, and I wonder what it was," Stormchaser thought.

Outside the Arena, Cole looked all around with a look of urgency.

"I can’t wait to record this ability," he said.

"I need to do it now; the Academic mission will be starting soon."

He turned to leave the surroundings and find a secluded place to do his business.

With that in mind, Cole began his search. They chose a random direction and hoped to find a desolate area or something.

He went further and further into the academy, some areas being highly occupied while some parts are quite desolate. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

But one thing was constant: the buildings were growing fewer.

"I think I am going in the right direction then," Cole said.

After a while more of walking, Cole could now see bushes growing thicker as he progressed until he got to a point where he felt comfortable enough.

All around him, tall bushes dominated everywhere, with few trees scattered all about.

"This is a part of the Academy people don’t really see," Cole mumbled.

"Let’s not waste any more time and get started then," Cole said while dropping to the ground.

He sat still on the ground to meditate and get himself into the perfect state.

After feeling confident enough, Cole summoned the Codex into reality.

The book appeared, quietly subtly changing a state in the air, spreading a soft aura of knowledge.

"This is refreshing," Cole said.

He wasted no more time and began recalling all the knowledge he knew about the ability.

The flow of Life energy, the pathways, everything all came flooding back into his mind.

"I hope this works."

Immediately, he activated the record Ability and almost instantly half of his Life energy was sucked away.

Little by little, text began to appear on the page, while physiological changes were going on inside Cole too.

The text was different this time, though. He lacked a sense of absoluteness that his abilities used to have.

Now it had a fluid-like state, capable of being slightly affected and manipulated.

Cole kept on thinking of his understanding of the ability, resulting in more parts being recorded in the Codex.

After a while, Cole was finally done with the recording of the ability, and he was immediately left wasted.

Physically exhausted while his Life energy was mostly sapped, he smiled while looking at the Large text at the top of the page.

"Lightning Coat," it read.

Cole was extremely satisfied by this point. Now his two recorded abilities were now 2-star, and undoubtedly he was much stronger.

"I really need somewhere to test this out," he said while still lying there.

In an attempt to put himself back in a right physiological state. He decided to cultivate to replenish his lost life energy and invigorate his physical body.

Chanting the World Absorbing Mantra, Life energy flowed into him and spread all across his body, slowly replenishing lost ones.

About twenty minutes later, Cole was finally ready, and he rushed to his feet.

"Let’s see what this thing can do," he said.

Willing it and activating his life energy, Lightning Sparks began appearing all around him.

His head, limbs, and torso were all slowly covered by sparks. The sparks grew and connected with one another, resulting in bigger ones.

The connection increased until Cole’s body was completely covered by a coat of lightning.

His lightning was quite different from Stormchaser’s own thought; it was completely blue, like the source.

it was a mixture of both blue and Golden sparks creating a beautiful mixture of Color.

"This is so much better," he said while looking at his raised arm.

Cole could feel all the cells were in what appeared to be a supercharged state.

They acted much faster than they were supposed to, and even his neural cells weren’t excluded.

Since they used electricity to send information, being in this state helped him think even faster.

This was gold to Cole since he relied heavily on his mind and analysis in his battles.

He looked up at a tree not far away and decided to test out his power.

He rushed straight at the tree with all of his speed which ended up being unusually fast.

In the blink of an eye, he appeared just before the tree and sent out a full-powered punch.

"The punch split the air cleanly and approached the tree accompanied by lightning.

Boom!

An explosion rang out as Cole’s attack landed. It left a part in splinters, and the other parts were completely darkened.

While Cole was scrutinizing the damage and gauging his own strength.

Boom!

He suddenly heard something from somewhere not too far away.

"What was that?" he said while turning abruptly.
