71: Chapter 70 Resolving with Ease

71 -70 Resolving with Ease

It’s easy to understand that if someone survives solitary confinement without issues, they would gain a lot of respect from others.

Ordinary people can’t stand three days in solitary, so naturally, if someone lasts seven days and is fine, they’re no ordinary person.

And whether it’s inmates or guards, as long as the human nature to bully the weak and fear the strong exists, they would have to be polite to Yang Yi, and since that doesn’t cost anything, the logic is simple, isn’t it?

Yang Yi wasn’t concerned about how much his status had risen, he only cared about how to accomplish his goals as quickly as possible.

After finishing his meal, the first thing Yang Yi did was to check his card, and then he found that there indeed was money on it.

Exactly one thousand US dollars, no more, no less.

So, without any delay, Yang Yi immediately repaid the money, and since Buddy was also an inmate, naturally the funds on Yang Yi’s ID card could be transferred to Buddy.

Having repaid the money, it was time for the yard time, and during yard time, the first thing Yang Yi did was to call Xiao Ran again.

“I received the money, thank you,” he said.

“I originally wanted to transfer more money to you, but I asked my friends, and they all said it’s best not to have too much money in prison, so I only sent you a thousand.

If you need more, don’t hesitate to ask, I owe you that much.”

Xiao Ran was generous, Yang Yi looked around to see that no one was near, and continued in a low voice, “I really might need more money in the future, and I will speak up when I need it.

It’s not convenient for me to talk right now, so I won’t say more, goodbye.”

He hung up the phone briskly, and Yang Yi sighed deeply, deciding that he would never call Xiao Ran again unless it was necessary, so as to avoid causing her any trouble.

After returning the phone to Buddy, Yang Yi lowered his voice and said, “Now that I have money, can we proceed with what we talked about?

Bro, can you arrange it for me now?”

Buddy replied with a relaxed expression, “Sure, but not today.

You should be able to meet during yard time tomorrow, but you’ve got to give me the money today.”

Yang Yi pondered for a moment, then said, “Can’t we meet today?

I’m in a hurry.”

Buddy shook his head, laughing, “Don’t joke, man, how could it be so quick?

It takes a suitable opportunity, and even tomorrow is not guaranteed, but I promise to arrange a meeting for you.”

Yang Yi had no choice but to nod in agreement and said, “Then I’m counting on you, brother.”

They exchanged a handshake, in the manner typical of African Americans, sealing the deal with Buddy.

After yard time ended, Yang Yi returned to his cell.

He hadn’t slept well in solitary, and now back in his cell, finally having a bed, the first thing he did was to sleep.

Yang Yi was sleeping soundly when he was woken up by Chris.

Yang Yi, annoyed at having his sleep disturbed, saw that Chris who woke him was whispering, “The boss wants you, stop sleeping, get up.”

Yang Yi sat up to see a guard standing outside the cell, expressionless, saying, “Inmate number 3387, come out.”

Yang Yi walked out, was handcuffed, and then once again taken away from his cell.

The person meeting Yang Yi was, again, the warden named Owen.

Owen wasn’t the prison director, but he was the head of the guards.

In this prison, he must be considered one of the top two or three authority figures.

Yang Yi wasn’t very clear about the prison hierarchy, so he didn’t know exactly how high Owen’s position was.

It was the same room as before, but this time Yang Yi wasn’t handcuffed to the chair.

Only Owen and Yang Yi were in the room, all the other prison guards had been sent away.

After watching Yang Yi for a long time, Owen finally said, “You got lucky this time.

The fight between you and the Boxing King stops here, but I’m warning you, never make trouble for me again.

Do you understand?”

Yang Yi was extremely surprised, incredibly so, because he had not received the punishment he deserved.

He had injured five people, some of them seriously.

Yang Yi thought that an extended sentence and a transfer to maximum security were inevitable.

Of course, a transfer to maximum security was what Yang Yi wanted, and though an extended sentence would be unpleasant, he was prepared to accept it.

But why was there no extension?

Yang Yi didn’t stay surprised for long before he figured out the reason.

Yang Yi had assumed someone else’s identity to enter the prison, and extending a sentence required reporting the incident to higher authorities.

The judicial system would need to send someone to investigate and pass judgment before Yang Yi’s sentence could be extended, which meant that Yang Yi would have to meet with legal system officials outside the prison multiple times.

So any extension of the sentence would risk exposing the false identity of Yang Yi, and thus, the matter was minimized and nullified.

There was no way the sentence could be extended.

After understanding the crux of the matter, Yang Yi felt somewhat relieved that his sentence would not be extended, but this relief was short-lived as this meant he could not be transferred to maximum security.

“Officer, could I request to be transferred to serve my sentence in the maximum security area?

Only by staying away from the Boxing King can I ensure that I won’t cause you any more trouble.”

Yang Yi tentatively made his request, despite knowing that few would voluntarily ask to be placed with the more dangerous criminals.

After glancing at Yang Yi with a look of disgust, Owen said angrily, “Shut your mouth!

You have no right to make any requests to me.

Remember this, if you dare to cause me trouble, I’ll beat your ass raw.

Now get back to your cell!”

Owen was in a bad mood, and Yang Yi didn’t know what he had done to offend him, but soon the guards escorted him back to his cell.

Yang Yi had to continue facing the threat posed by the Boxing King, which not only annoyed him but also gave him a severe sense of crisis.

He obediently returned to his cell only to find that he could not sleep.

In the bathroom, he had taken on five, including the Boxing King, but this wasn’t Yang Yi’s true strength.

If the Boxing King returned healed, a confrontation was inevitable.

The Boxing King was not only strong himself but also had dozens of minions.

If another conflict occurred, Yang Yi felt there was no chance of another lucky escape.

The time to act against the Boxing King had come, and it had to be soon.

The next morning at breakfast, Yang Yi was extra vigilant, watching for the Boxing King’s men who might seek revenge, but the meal passed peacefully.

Yet, wanting to ask Buddy about when he could establish a connection with the guards, Yang Yi noticed that Buddy had disappeared and was nowhere to be seen the entire mealtime.

Yang Yi was naturally anxious, but after a short while during the yard time, Buddy appeared from somewhere.

Buddy had indeed managed to handle matters, and, separated by a wire fence, Yang Yi struck up a conversation with a guard.

No pleasantries were exchanged; the prison had no need for useless formalities,

Standing behind the wire fence, Yang Yi spoke softly to the guard in front of him, “Is it possible for you to transfer me to the area with the serious offenders?”

“To the area with serious offenders?

I can try; there shouldn’t be any problems.”

The guard agreed readily, and Yang Yi, feeling inwardly joyful, said, “Thank you, but could you please make it as soon as possible?”

“Sure, wait for my news.”

After agreeing to Yang Yi’s request, the guard immediately turned and left, while Yang Yi finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Having money indeed made things easier.

As long as he was transferred to the maximum security area, all his current problems would be solved.
