SSS Awakening: I Can Create Skills By Will-Chapter 28: When Intent Steps Beyond the Self
Bone shattered. Regenerated. And shattered again.
Arthur felt it.
The rhythm. The flow.
Even as his body failed, his intent grew clearer. He adjusted angles. Timed his projections between movements. Used Manifest Intent to pin limbs for a fraction of a second before striking elsewhere.
But the boss adapted too.
Shockwaves erupted with every swing now, disrupting Arthur’s footing, punishing every reckless step. Each mistake earned pain.
Arthur was thrown again.
And again.
Each time he stood back up slower than before.
The awakeners watched with clenched teeth and shaking hands.
"He won’t stop."
"He’s not giving in."
"Even now..."
Arthur’s breaths came ragged as he wiped blood from his mouth once more. His legs trembled, but his eyes burned brighter than ever.
"This isn’t over," he whispered. "Not yet."
The boss lunged, halberd crashing down with enough force to split the ground.
BOOOOM!
Arthur was caught full on.
His body slammed into the floor, the impact echoing through the chamber.
For a moment, nothing moved.
Then Arthur’s fingers twitched.
He rolled onto his back, staring at the ceiling, chest rising and falling in shallow gasps.
The awakeners felt something crack inside them.
"That’s it..."
"He’s done..."
"We’re finished."
But Arthur laughed.
It was quiet, and broken. But real.
He sat up slowly, every movement deliberate, and wiped the blood from his mouth.
This time, when he stood, he was grinning.
A sharp, confident grin.
"I told you," he said, voice steady despite everything. "I’m not falling here."
Something had indeed changed.
The battle was still brutal. The odds were still against him.
But his intent never wavered.
And the system felt it.
Arthur could feel it the moment he took his first step forward.
Not strength in the usual sense, not the rush of mana or the sharp clarity that came with Execution Intent. This was different. It was quieter and deeper. And It settled into his bones like gravity had decided he was its center.
His body still hurt. That hadn’t changed. Every bruise screamed, every breath scraped his chest, yet his steps were steady as he walked toward the boss monster again. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Slowly and calmly.
The skeletal knight noticed.
Its empty eye sockets burned brighter as it shifted on the throne of bones. The halberd scraped loudly against the ground as it rose halfway, then slammed its weapon down, releasing a violent roar that shook the dungeon walls.
It was intimidation. Raw and furious.
Arthur didn’t stop.
"Yeah," he said softly, almost amused. "I hear you."
The pressure rolled outward.
The awakeners felt it before they understood it. A heavy presence pressed against their chests, but it wasn’t fear. It didn’t suffocate or crush. Instead, it grounded them, like someone had planted their feet firmly on the ground.
Several of them swallowed hard.
"What... is that?" someone whispered.
"It’s him," another replied, eyes locked on Arthur. "It’s definitely him."
They should have been scared. Any other time, standing near something like this would have frozen them in place. But Arthur wasn’t facing them. He wasn’t targeting them.
So instead of fear, hope bloomed.
Unreasonable, desperate. and real.
Somewhere deep down, without speaking it out loud, they all placed a silent bet.
"Please don’t fall".
"Just stay standing".
"Find a way".
Arthur barely heard the battle anymore. His attention turned inward as he tried to understand what had changed.
It was then the system responded.
The familiar sensation brushed across his senses, smooth and inevitable.
Arthur’s steps slowed but didn’t stop.
As a new interface unfolded before him.

Arthur didn’t hesitate.
"Proceed."
The confirmation felt heavier than any upgrade before, as if something fundamental shifted rather than simply growing stronger.
The new interface formed, clearer, sharper.

Intent is no longer bound to the self.
Presence asserts influence.
The battlefield begins to acknowledge authority.
━━━ EFFECTS ━━━
• **Will Suppression**
Continuous authority pressure is exerted on hostile entities.
Nearby enemies experience brief hesitation and reduced cohesion.
Corrupted and undead targets suffer degraded instinct synchronization.
• **Authority Stabilization**
The user’s intent is reinforced under external pressure.
Execution Intent and movement skills resist disruption once initiated.
Mental backlash, panic, and pain interference are reduced.
Abyssal destabilization effects are partially mitigated.
• **Ally Resonance**
Friendly units within proximity gain increased mental steadiness.
Combat movements subtly align, reducing execution errors.
No direct command or dominance is applied.

Arthur stopped walking.
Not because he needed to rest.
Because he needed a second to breathe.
"...You’re kidding," he murmured.
This wasn’t just strong. This wasn’t even normal growth. This was something that shouldn’t exist at his level, something that belonged to monsters who ruled battlefields, not survivors dragged into a dungeon.
Yet it fit. And it fit too well.
The skill hadn’t forced itself on him. It had followed his intent, responded to the way he refused to fall, the way he treated the battlefield as something he stood on, not something that stood over him.
Arthur let out a low laugh.
"So that’s it," he said quietly. "You decided to walk with me."
The pressure shifted again.
And the boss monster felt it this time.
Its movements slowed for a fraction of a second. Not much. Not enough to cripple it. But enough to confuse it.
The undead around it hesitated, their coordination faltering as if their instincts no longer lined up cleanly.
Arthur moved.
He didn’t rush. He didn’t vanish instantly.
He walked.
Each step felt deliberate, like the dungeon itself was giving him room. His presence pressed outward, subtle but undeniable, and the closer he got, the more unstable the monster’s aura became.
The awakeners watched with wide eyes.
"He’s not even using a skill."
"Why does it feel like the monster is backing off?"
"This doesn’t make sense..."
