Chapter 127: She must be plotting something truly devious

Damon casually walked around the streets of Trendelan City, hands tucked into his coat pockets as snowflakes landed silently on his shoulders. The cobbled paths glittered with a thin frost, and the air buzzed with the chilling freeze.

To be honest, he did not really remember much about this place. Everything about this place was cold and freezing, and it was a pain to grind monsters or farm special herbs.

However, there was a popular mage who came from this place. Coincidentally, he had nothing to do with ice affinity. He ended up unlocking a special monk class and, after two years, became an extremely famous independent player.

All ten super guilds were behind that guy for several months to recruit him, but in the end, he remained an independent player. He finally relented and joined one of the super ten guilds, but he no longer appeared much in the public scene.

Now that Damon thought about it, maybe something was going on behind the scenes that made him subservient. The super ten guilds only became the super ten guilds at the end of the year, but Damon had a feeling that there was a lot going on even before that.

Did the super ten guilds already know about his existence? Have they already planned to make a move on him? Or perhaps they hadn’t considered him a threat just yet.

Damon had engaged in a lot of minor scuffles here and there, but this time it was different. This group would closely monitor his skills and abilities. He needed to be careful in revealing certain aspects of himself.

The achievements he had so far were noteworthy, but they were not nearly enough to stand out too much. However, if his true skills were revealed, then it was going to be an entirely different ballgame.

The super ten weren’t going to remain idle if they knew the explosive growth potential of his bloodline. A clash in the future was inevitable. It was best to prepare as best as possible before everything about him was revealed.

Thinking about many things, he walked along the streets of Trendelan City. He accepted a few general quests and asked around about unlocking the monk class here and there.

After a few minutes, he made a beeline back to the small pub. He hadn’t exactly made any progress on finding out about the monk class, but he did end up getting some interesting quests.

Kate and Mark had already sent a bunch of messages, so Damon did not linger and headed back through the frosted lanes. He whistled happily as he arrived at the place in a jiffy. However, just as he neared the small pub, his expression changed a little.

He smelled the unbelievable, tantalizing smell of a certain woman’s blood. No way. There was no way she was here, right?

He walked closer to the pub when everyone inside started coming out. Mark and Kate were already standing outside. Sylvara came out first, her blonde hair flowing in the wind. Behind her, a series of cold and arrogant men walked out, all with similar expressions on their faces.

And right at the end of the line were two familiar faces. Aurora and the woman who had threatened him on her behalf, fire goddess or whatever.

Damon blinked in surprise, then let out a soft chuckle. "You’ve got to be kidding me."

Kate noticed his reaction and gave him a sideways glance. "You okay?"

"Nope," Damon said, not taking his eyes off the two women. "But I’m about to be very entertained."

Right on cue, the fire goddess rushed towards him, her eyes burning in anger. "What are you doing here?" she gritted her teeth, barely controlling herself.

"I was invited," Damon said with a shrug.

Sylvara, who sensed a headache coming on quickly, stepped in. "I did not know that you both knew each other. He’s part of the team, Mira. I told you we’d be working with outsiders. I will apologize on his behalf if there were any prior grievances."

"No. No. Nothing like that. Just a little surprised." Mira muttered, gnashing her teeth. A few of the men threw some glances that way, but no one said anything.

Damon was, in fact, extremely surprised that Aurora hadn’t said a single thing. Rather than this fire princess or whatever, it was this tyrannical woman he was terrified of.

She might look like a harmless cat, but she was a tigress who had stood at the top of the world in his last life, the fiercest and powerful battle priestess who was impossible to kill.

Not to mention, he had already aggroed her several times. The natural reaction was for her to come running to him with a dozen spells ready at her fingertips, but this woman... why was she acting so strangely?

She barely even looked at him!

And when she did, it was when he was not looking at her. It was almost as if she was... shy?

Hmmm? Was she plotting something truly devious? Damon felt a chill run down his spine at that thought. Women should never be trusted! He snapped out of it and made a mental note to be extra careful around her.

The group then quickly set off with Sylvara leading the way. They soon left the city outskirts and took the path less travelled towards the mountainous regions.

They had barely covered a few miles when the temperature dropped a few more degrees, and everyone started feeling the freezing cold of the northern mountains.

It was a creeping, soul-numbing cold that soaked through layers of gear and dug claws into bone. Normal players would have already started losing health, but everyone gathered here had one or another way to combat the cold. The group continued forward without their pace affected in the least.

"Heh? These two are still able to continue?" Mendoza suddenly turned around and shot a disdainful glare at Kate and Mark.

"Mendoza!" Sylvara gave a warning shout, but the man only laughed lightly. "I am just checking if they need any health potions."

"Shut the fuck up and stand back," Damon growled. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

"What did you just say, bastard?" Mendoza growled, but an even louder growl drowned his voice. Before anyone could react, a huge pack of snow wolves surrounded them from all directions.
