It was no issue for Ferris to find himself a decent bed and a roof over his head, given his somewhat familiar knowledge on the outskirts of the inner city.

He booked himself for a single night, washed himself first with the provided amenities, and ate his fill at a nearby convenience store.

After returning home, he paused in a mourning silence for his money before jumping straight to bed.

Ferris didn’t plan on sleeping yet, he still had plenty of things to prepare and think about for tomorrow.

First the commission he spotted at the Hero Association, then plead to Prin for a home to stay at.

He opened his messaging app and went straight to Prin’s contact.

Ferris hurriedly sent the plead for help, but he failed to realize how fast Prin was at seeing his messages.

Now it looked weird without his further context!

Ferris settled his phone beside him, screen facing the bed.

He looked rather displeased with himself that he sent a message that lowered his dignity so much.

Even though I’m familiar with the cellphone, it’s still amazing that people can talk with each other so quickly.

A slow communication system was a major drawback indeed, if his world had technologies such as the internet, many countries and people would’ve been spared by the serpent’s spawn which sometimes appeared out of nowhere.

He quickly removed himself from the app, and went straight to his gallery to see the previous picture he took of the commission.

Tapping in the details, such as names and keywords, Ferris saw the exact commission that interested him and tapped it immediately to see the extra details.

Ferris read the detailed descriptions, but he was unsatisfied with the vagueness. I was hoping to know that this might be the same facility where Judas and his sister came from, but might as well start building up my credibility and merit as a hero.

Ferris nodded happily, as a knight, these skills were taught to him during his academy days and he had years of real experience!

Expeditions into the world-eating serpent’s cocoon took days and even months depending on the depth, and that required a lot of knowledge in survival!

Furthermore, expeditions were all led in groups and he always had a leadership role back then if Yaromech or Alaric wasn’t present.

Ferris suddenly paused. It’s descending though... but it’s the same thing as ascending a mountain, right?!

Ferris tapped the message button and sent her his request. He also listed his general skills and he made no mention of price negotiation.

Honestly, without me citing my real experience as a knight, I’m quite worthless in documented experience... Ferris realized his shortcomings as he hoped that his experience in the hero exam disaster was enough.

So this meant his lack of price negotiation was his strong suit amongst other heroes.

Ferris closed his phone. Thanks to its advanced design made by Prin, he had no need to charge it overnight and he could sleep soundly despite the cold and noisy atmosphere of City 13.

The next day, Ferris quickly woke himself with a cold splash of water to the face, and only then did he check his phone for notifications.

Ferris mused to himself. It’s so early too. He smiled.

She even has running gear, it’s branded as well... Did she use Tailor’s money? Ferris felt sorry before he remembered how large her father’s mansion and land was.

Ferris coldly tapped his screen.

After that he checked on Prin’s contact, but that demoralizing thumbs up was still there.

He checked his other contact and saw that Magpie had a message for him.

He opened the attachment and saw that Magpie was right in front of the hotel!

Other than the fact that they knew where he was 24/7, Ferris felt a bit ashamed.

In that moment, Ferris released his restraints and cleaned up the room before leaving. I can’t make Magpie wait again, this is so unbecoming of my knighthood!

Ferris stepped outside and calmed himself down in front of the expressionless Magpie who looked careless almost.

"I’m sorry, how long were you waiting for?" he asked.

"I’m sorry..." he said once again.

In that moment, Ferris almost thought about changing his hero name to, Hero of Prophecy, removing the previous title that seemed too righteous for the likes of him.

Ferris pursed his lips. Did she feel bad for me after I told her I’m homeless?

Prin, you might not be adept at socialization, but you sure are adept at hurting people without words. He just had to lampoon at the moment where his soul was being hurt a little.
