Chapter 15: I’m Suspended?

"Naomi?... Oh... Fuck."

Everyone’s eyes followed him as the doors shut, everyone except Naomi.

She sat silently, sniffling on her seat.

"Mr Kaiser, now that you’re here, I’ll make this as brief as possible." The principal cleared her throat as she welcomed him in.

"Principal Margaret, is something wrong?" He walked up to her table with a nervous gulp.

This was one of those times where the privileges of those born and raised in the upper sector thrived, and it was more concerning because he had no clue what the she told the principal.

With only Naomi there, it wasn’t far fetched to assume it was linked to what happened between them a day ago.

He pulled the chair back, and before he could sit, Margaret’s eyes flicked up in sudden confusion.

"Are you sure about that?" There was no need for him to seat, after all, she knew this news would definitely shake him up.

He discarded the idea, and his heart pounded even faster now.

"Now then, Mr Kaiser." Margaret began, and her disgust grew even more.

"From today henceforth, you Mr Kaiser, will no longer be a student of this institution."

"Huh?" He felt his world turning upside down in an instant. He won’t be a student of this institution any longer? He was getting expelled?

His eyes went wide in disbelief, unable to believe what he just heard. He turned to Naomi at first, but she had no intention of addressing the principal’s verdict, then he shifted his attention back to the principal.

"What is this? What do you mean I’m no longer a student here? On what grounds is my studentship being terminated?"

"You don’t have the rights to ask questions you dirty!-"

"Miss Mary." The principal’s voice cut through the air before Mary could completely snap.

"Sorry Mrs Margaret." Mary calmed down immediately and regained her composure, but her glare didn’t escape Eric’s sight.

"Mr Kaiser, you have been accused of attempted rape against Miss Nightwood."

Eric chuckled softly, then turned and faced Naomi who was still hesitant to look him straight in eye.

He understood what was going on. It was a set up. Naomi set him up.

Since the day he hacked his way into Edenford, he knew the principal and most of the staff resented him.

But what could they do? His scores were flawless, and if the management board found out they evicted such a talent because they didn’t like him, they’d surely lose their jobs.

But this opportunity Naomi presented to them? They didn’t even care if he was innocent or not. For them, this was a chance.

"This academy has a strict policy against sexual assault, and you have violated that policy. You are expected to leave the premises as soon as possible."

"Wait wait." Eric said hastily, then took a deep breath. He couldn’t afford to lose his scholarship, not right now, not when his aunt was struggling to pay the rent.

He refused to let any more bad news come her way.

"I did not attempt to rape her." He cleared his throat and took a step forward.

"There is no proof to justify your accusations, but I have proof. The hallway security cameras, they should have recorded everything that happened that day, if you want to know the truth, take a look at it."

"A vile scum like you have no rights to be making demands!" Miss Mary finally snapped. From the day he stepped foot into the school, she never liked him. Her opinions about people from the lower sector were as awful as ever.

After hearing this, it was multiplied tenfolds.

"Miss Mary!" The principal called out again, this time firm and clear. She was also uncomfortable having him around, but there were procedures to it all.

Miss Mary bit her lower lips in annoyance, then looked away.

"If that’s what you insist, but do note that whatever is shown will be used against you in this case."

"Fine by me."

The principal’s fingers danced through her keyboard like a professional gamer, then she pulled up the security footage recorded on that day and clicked on it.

The footage played out, displaying the events that happened accordingly, from Eric stepping out of the room, to Naomi’s fan boys surrounding him, then to him knocking them out in one single hit.

Margaret’s eyes rolled up from the monitor and to Eric like a predator that had just awakened.

"There is no evidence of attempted rape." She verified his claims, and Eric let out a sigh of relief.

"However... This footage clearly showed that while you may have not assaulted miss Naomi sexually, you physically assaulted those four boys and rendered them unconscious."

"... Yes." He said with his full chest. While he may have admitted to knocking them out, the consequences couldn’t be as dire as the one for sexual harassment.

"Miss Naomi Nightwood, you may leave." Naomi stood from her seat, took a bow, and left the principal’s office.

Then Margaret turned her attention back to him.

"You have physically assaulted not one, but four of our students. And as a result of your actions, you will be suspended for two weeks."

Eric blinked.

It wasn’t close to what he was expecting, after all the footage clearly showed that he only fought back as an act of self defense.

There was no part of the footage that clearly stated why he should be getting such punishment at all.

"But the semester exams are in three weeks, how am I supposed to catch up on time?"

"You should have thought of that before making such decisions, you may leave." Margaret turned her eyes away from him immediately and discarded his presence.

He ran his fingers through his hair, he couldn’t believe it, he couldn’t believe it one bit.

But in the worst case scenario, it was an option far better than expulsion.

He left the office and closed the doors behind him. Then he heard a voice right besides him. "I told you I’d make you pay one way or the other."

He turned to his side, and there she was, leaning against the wall with a grin on her face that depicted the kind of cunning vixen she was.

"Why?" He asked calmly, desperately trying to soothe the anger that was boiling to the surface.

"Because you touched me. You Eric Kaiser, touched. A lowly street rat from that shit hole touched me, God knows how many infections you passed on to me, and I had to scrub every part of my body with an iron sponge."

She walked besides him, then whispered in his ears. "And I’m just getting started, you will pay for defying me Kaiser, and I’ll do everything in my power to get you kicked out, and send you and your stupid aunt’s ass back to that shit hole you call a home."

Eric’s eyes flared up immediately, and he immediately turned to face her.

"If you dare utter another word about my aunt, I’ll make you regret it." He said coldly.

"You?" She chuckled softly. "Your words are as meaningless and empty as the house you live in."

..

[Starcore Delta]

Victoria, suited up as Agent Alpha, made her way to her Captain’s office.

She was lost in thought, unconsciously ignoring all the greetings that were thrown at her as she passed fellow staffs of the Starcore Delta.

She couldn’t stop thinking about it, the previous night, and what had happened.

The vigilantes words struck her like a bullet to her chest, she knew it wasn’t true, but the moment she saw him save the two individuals from the mess she herself made, she doubted her beliefs.

But even at that, it wasn’t what was bothering her. It was the vigilante himself. There was something captivating about him that she couldn’t shake off.

After the ICT staff she threatened revealed the sealed data to her, she didn’t go to the docks, instead she stayed home deciding to take the day off like the head commander had suggested, until he called her and informed her about the disturbances at the docks.

By the time she got there, she saw the vigilante fighting off the hijackers.

It was then it hit her.

Despite complaining to her commander about it, she was no different from him. Or perhaps it’s because she was already used to it?

The Vigilante, although caught in a blast that should have landed him in the intensive care unit, didn’t hesitate to go back.

But she, she forgot all about it, and when reminded, tried to make a difference.

But she only made things worse.

"Yeah... That’s it." She muttered under her breath as she reached her Captain’s door, she finally figured out what was captivating about him.

Even without any special powers or the battle tech in his arsenal, the Vigilante didn’t think twice before putting his life on the line to save others.

She pushed open the doors and walked in not wanting to keep her manager waiting.

"Miss Stones, I’m glad you could make it." The captain of team Alpha — Shawn, said as he rose quickly from the desk, fastening his suit jacket before guiding her to the sofa at the side of his office.

"Sit sit." He insisted as he poured a cup of coffee and handed it over to her before they both sat down.

"I heard you wanted to see me? What is it?" She went straight to the point.

"Business as usual, you see this is why I like you. This is why you are the face of Starcore Delta." He dropped his cup of coffee and stood up.

"You see, over the past few years, your team has achieved what so many couldn’t and you have protected this planet more times that I can count, but there is a problem." He began, turning his back to her as he clasped his hands behind him.

"A problem? What’s that?"

"It is regarding a mission team Alpha completed three weeks ago, or so we thought..."

"Three weeks ago? That’s our mission regarding Velxam? That planet where only one dominant species exist?" She shuddered as the memories of that mission flashed through her mind.

By count, that mission had to be one of the top three missions she hated, mostly because the Velxamians couldn’t take their eyes off her.

"I’m afraid so, while you and your team managed to fend off defeat the Velxamians that tried to invade earth, they have suddenly reached out to us."

"Reached out?" She dropped her cup on the table. "Why?"

Silence.

Shawn didn’t say anything, or rather he didn’t know how to.

Then he sighed and turned around.

"The Velxamians have given their word that they wouldn’t attack earth anymore, however they want something in return... They want to experience the pleasure their race of dominant masculine species haven’t been able to since the day of their creation. The touch of a woman."

Victoria felt a chill down her spine as Shawn said coldly. "They want you."
