Star Gate-Chapter 1660: Killing Sixth Ranks (II)
Bloodlust didn’t say a word. Instead, he looked at a sixth rank next to him. That exalted emperor smiled radiantly and appeared particularly benevolent.
“Death God and Myriad Dao, our world master value you two immensely because we hear that you respectively cultivate life and death and the five elements!” His voice was gentle and sincere. “If the two are willing to join us, Fellow Daoist Myriad Dao is nearly assured to reach sixth rank and Fellow Daoist Death God... knows our background as well. A rare opportunity is available to you—the fellow daoist may have a chance to peer into the secrets of seventh rank!”
Recruitment?
The wandering cultivators looked at each other with wide eyes, not knowing the veracity of the offer.
In reality, it was half true and half false.
It wasn’t without possibility that the two might surrender. They were clearly both genius exalted emperors. They would be reserve talents if they joined Red Moon and were incorporated into Red Moon’s great dao. There was great potential left to them still.
But it was equally clear that there was someone significant supporting the two, so it wasn’t likely that they would join Red Moon. This was just a move that probed their intentions.
Within the formation, Void lifted his head and sensed the inward surge of dao currents. There was a very beguiling quality to the person’s dao note. It was highly enticing—this was likely a powerhouse skilled at the dao of captivation.
“That’s not out of the question!” Void smiled. “Since the various exalted emperors are from a major faction, why don’t you try the little formation that Fellow Daoist Myriad Dao and I have set up. You can come in one by one. We’re willing to surrender if anyone is able to make it through in one piece!”
Bloodlust’s eyes glinted coldly; he frowned when he made a close observation of the formation. Killing intent shot out of his eyes and slammed into the formation. It shook, but didn’t break. The man’s eyes widened. What a stable formation!
How had they done it?
For exalted emperors of their level, formations set by dao strength were of limited might. They couldn’t deal much damage to sixth ranks. Granted, they were still a threat to low ranks. Take the diagram of the eight trigrams within Silver Moon, for example. It’d trapped Bone Eclipse for many years.
But that was because Bone Eclipse had been very weak!
On the contrary, Bloodlust was a peak sixth rank who could breach even mid rank worlds. However, this tiny formation in front of them possessed defensive capabilities on par with a regular mid world!
Now that was something!
“Have you combined a domain with it?” Bloodlust could sense a bit of a domain within the formation. It was said that Myriad Dao wielded a weapon that was infused with a domain from a premier exalted emperor. It looked like the rumors were true.
“We should just launch an offensive at them!” Soul Eclipse transmitted next to him. “This formation doesn’t seem weak, but there’s a lot of us. It will break if we force our way through!”
“This formation is connected to the aura of Orchid Forest,” Li Hao said at this time. “The world will fall apart once you try to brute force your way through!
“Yan Fang and the master of Orchid Forest, my brothers and I have fought formidable enemies on Orchid Forest’s behalf and are bathed in our blood on the battlefield. And yet, not only are you afraid of offending these people, but you even take our battle spoils.
“Today, you shut the world gates on us. Let us see how many die in Orchid Forest once this formation is ripped apart!”
Yan Fang appeared in the distance. A faint frown hung on his face and a light shone out of his eyes. The formation was indeed connected to the auras in the surroundings. In this moment, he was uncertain if this was an agreement that Li Hao had reached with the world master or... if this was a personal decision.
“You already say that this will only affect Orchid Forest...” sneered Bloodlust.
“Orchid Forest’s great dao will surely decline if billions of its denizens die,” Li Hao sneered right back at him. “Do I need to explain the ramifications to you, given where you come from? Why do you take a soft approach to Orchid Forest, as opposed to outright launching attacks at it?
“Do you think all exalted emperors in the world are idiots? If you truly massacre Orchid Forest and its dao universe declines, will that bring the results you wish to see, hmm? This seat would also like to see if you are accomplishing merit or mishap if you seize a frail Orchid Forest after killing us and the other exalted emperors!”
Bloodlust frowned and stared coolly at them. What a glib tongue in this kid’s head! Did the Red Moon delegation care if Orchid Forest citizens died?
No!
But if the casualties mounted and a large portion of the general population died, then Orchid Forest would certainly deteriorate. It was hard to say how much it would deteriorate by, but Red Moon wished to devour Orchid Forest as part of its pursuit to recover.
What was the point of swallowing it if it was too fragile?
“Cut off his formation’s connection to the world!” Bloodlust suddenly transmitted to Yan Fang. “Have your world master come forward and manipulate this area’s world strength. Sever their connection to Orchid Forest!”
A resigned look entered Yan Fang’s eyes as he transmitted back, “The world master is in closed door cultivation.”
“Hmph!” snorted Bloodlust. Closed door cultivation?
That wasn’t without possibility as the world master might truly be attempting seventh rank, but was the world really out of options? Could they really have so easily let an outsider connect to their earth veins?
Clearly... Orchid Forest was possibly opening the door on purpose.
“Bloodlust, we’ll just roll over them with a strong offensive!” transmitted an exalted emperor next to the man. “It’s Orchid Forest’s matter if they suffer heavy casualties. Even if their dao universe is damaged, it won’t be overly severe...”
It;s just that the outcome wouldn’t be as perfect as it could’ve been.
Bloodlust looked silently at the formation, contemplating it for a while before saying, “Break it!”
He didn’t give orders to raze it, but to break it. Razing it would entail complete violence. Breaking it indicated employing skill to dismantle it.
“Is this... appropriate?” Sorrowless wondered. “Those two have set up a major formation that pulls from Orchid Forest, obviously hoping for us to give up the idea of using force. We might fall into their trap once we enter it!”
That was obvious to anyone who took a look!
“It doesn’t matter, we’ll all enter together!” bit off Bloodlust. “Does he think we’ll split up or head inside one by one? We’ll go in together. They’re the ones who will die if they dare show themselves! No matter how strong a formation is, that’s all there is to it. Will they be able to eliminate us all if you enter together?”
The group nodded at his words; the wandering cultivators heaved a sigh of relief. They’d been worried that Bloodlust would be so cocky that he would send the wandering cultivators in alone to break the formation. If that happened... their casualties would be immense.
But since they were going inside together, there wasn’t much of a problem with the road ahead.
“Enter the formation!” Bloodlust bellowed. The group of exalted emperors entered the formation at his behest. He turned around to sneer at Yan Fang’s group. “Since you cannot cut off the formation’s energy supply, then stand guard in the surroundings so that large-scale casualties do not occur.
“Yan Fang, we do not wish for Orchid Forest to become a zone of death in the end. What we want is a prosperous Orchid Forest!”
Yan Fang’s expression was stern; he didn’t say a word.
“Hold down the four corners and suppress the earth veins!” he grunted when the group was gone. “You guys must contain the disturbance once the formation breaks, understood?”
“Understood!” Exalted emperors quickly scattered to the four directions.
“That’s just as well.” Having entered the formation, Bloodlust chuckled. “These guys will ensure that our rear is safe if they’re otherwise preoccupied. Otherwise, I’d be worried that these guys would be so blind that they want to get involved!”
......
Inside the formation.
“Those of Red Moon are as arrogant as ever!” Li Hao laughed after a look. “As usual, they think nothing of us. They think that they have the better of us, just because they come from an eighth rank world!”
Void thought for a moment before looking seriously at Li Hao. “That would be true if it wasn’t for you and me! It would be the same for Light. Think about it, an eighth rank major world sending seven sixth ranks and dozens of other exalted emperors against one fourth rank and one sixth rank... Why would they not be cocksure?”
“......” Li Hao didn’t know what to say, whereas Void felt that the young man had made an error in judgment.
Why are you so sure that they can’t take us? They absolutely can!
Fine, Li Hao felt that they were the ones who’d made errors in judgment instead. I might think the same if I came from an eighth rank world. He said nothing else and looked at those who’d entered the formation. “Shall we?”
“Anytime!”
Li Hao sent a ripple through the formation and tendrils of dao strength sweeping in all directions to attack the heavyweights. The dao of attachment appeared—he only possessed a surface understanding of it and couldn’t use it much effect.
The only effect he could bring to bear was to ensure that all of these people were contaminated with his presence and the presence of time.
That was all there was to it!
This dao was nearly negligible to exalted emperors and could even be easily demolished.
The dao of hiding began to disperse.
Li Hao had accumulated a great deal of chaos tribulations when he helped the Sword Sovereign and Void recover, as well as trace the formation of a world and its dao net. With all of this cumulative force, the chaos tribulations were not weak.
Having erased some of the dao strength, Bloodlust slightly furrowed his brows. It felt like something had attached itself to him, a very faint dao strength.
At the same time, it felt like something had attached itself to him—a very faint dao strength. It was a bit unusual and the sensation of it being stuck to him seemed rather inappropriate. The surge of strength was weak, but it was difficult to expel from his body and did not feel good.
At the same time, the other premier heavyweights also felt something similar.
“Expel the unique strength on us and be careful...” said Bloodlust, opting to issue a reminder in the end. Although the strength was negligible, it was always prudent to be careful when an outside force attached itself to a cultivator.
The group began expelling the strength, but such was the attribute of this dao. It was a passive great dao that either assimilated the subject or was assimilated. When the group exerted themselves, not only did this strength not die out, but... it was absorbed instead.
People jerked to a halt. What was this energy? It was assimilated so easily! It felt like there wasn’t much to it—it was so weak!
