Star Gate-Chapter 1685: The East Is At Hand (II)
“You... have encouraged Fog Mountain to declare independence?” The Light master was likewise surprised. “And with opening the Skyward dao universe as the price?”
“Yes!” Void nodded. “Does father think I cannot do it?”
“That’s right!”
“......”
Li Hao pretended to not hear anything; an awkward expression crept over Void’s face.
Father... do you know that there’s outsiders present? That was such a humiliating response! It’s one thing to say this in private, but you just did so in front of my friend!
“Father probably doesn’t know that I’m already a sixth rank! Not only that, but now I cultivate life and death, emptiness and revitalization, light and dark! I’m also preparing to set foot into seventh rank.
“In pursuit of my goals, I’ve convinced a great deal of people to create opportunities for me. That includes the New Martial Human King! Father, you won’t be less than outsiders, will you?”
“What outsiders?” blinked the Light master.
“The New Martial Human King!”
“You?”
“Yes!”
“You have that ability?”
“Father...” Void reddened with anger. “I am friends with the Silver Moon king! You should know that”
“Oh, yes, that. So the Silver Moon king is the one persuading the New Martial Human King, is it? So that means that the Skyward dao universe might have something to do with the Silver Moon king? And with the Human King?
“My fool of a son, you haven’t been tricked by New Martial, have you?”
Void was at a complete loss. What the hey now? How could I have been? Why doesn’t my father trust me?
He really was getting annoyed. I’m not a freeloader living off my parents! Why doesn’t my father trust me?
“Although your potential is high and you are devoted to seeking dao, as well as being equipped with a great deal of knowledge... You lack certain things compared to people like them,” sighed the master of Light. “You lack a bit of... street smarts! You’ve grown up under my protection and Skyward is the furthest place you’ve traveled to. But even there, no one dares raise a hand against you as you are under our protection.
“Whether it is New Martial or Silver Moon, they are worlds that have risen up through everyday life. Even if you’re not younger than these people, I am not at ease with you or them!
“You speak too easily of these matters! People such as Fog Mountain and the New Martial Human King are rare personages. Will they be so easily persuaded? They must have their own plans in mind as well...”
As expected of a veteran heavyweight, he saw things very clearly. He also knew his son the best. While Void had potential, he might be lacking in life experience when compared to Li Hao. The latter had carved his way in blood out of a minor world. Meanwhile, Void had remained under Light’s protection even after leaving the major world.
In other words, he wore his heart on a sleeve!
The Light master highly suspected that his son was being used by others.
Void slightly furrowed his brows, growing rather irritated. Some people were genteel and even tempered when outside, but they always sought to prove themselves to their parents. They wanted to say that they’d grown up.
Void was no exception.
“Father, I am not a child anymore,” he said waspishly. “Your memories of me might still be the me of five hundred years ago! I’ve grown up and done many things that you might not dare think of!
“I’ve worked with New Martial’s Sword Sovereign and the Silver Moon king to kill Clarity. I was one of the major contributors and played a pivotal role!
“I killed large sums of exalted emperors in Orchid Forest and killed two sixth ranks at once! They were all direct Red Moon subordinates!
“I am already a sixth rank and I walk multiple paths of extremes! I trust that I can make it to seventh rank by myself! Father, I’m no longer the Ming Tang who left Light to roam the chaos on account of my pride! I am Void, a person renowned through the chaos now!”
“......” The Light master was silent for a long moment. Killing Clarity and a sixth rank... Had his son grown up?
Perhaps.
In his eyes, his son was too young and naive. But just as Void said, his son had done many things that he wouldn’t dare dream of. Ming Tang was now an exalted emperor of multiple extreme daos and had killed a seventh rank...
“Has anyone taught you the words you say and the deeds you commit today?” asked the Light master.
“Why does anyone need to teach me this?” grumbled Void. “I’m one thousand years old, no longer a child!”
“Just one thousand, huh...” sighed the Light master. That was more of a child than a child! His son was so young!
He spoke like his son was barely out of his swaddling clothes. In reality, that was how he perceived Void. The Light master was too old.
“The New Martial Human King is about 1,200 years old and the Silver Moon king is in his twenties!” Void couldn’t help himself. “Father, I’m a thousand years old!”
“You’re different from them. They don’t have a powerful father, you do!”
“Then does father agree?” Void asked curtly.
“Since my son has said so...” The Light master considered briefly. “Then I agree! But Light will seek vengeance if someone dares use this to scheme against my son!”
These words were clearly not meant for Void. It was as if the Light master knew that someone was next to Void—they were for Li Hao.
Li Hao shrugged his shoulders. I’m not afraid of this level of threat. Not to mention, contacting the Light master hadn’t been his idea. Void had been the one to raise it.
Meanwhile, Void felt that he’d lost face in front of his friend. He was an urbane gentleman skilled in the great dao in front of others, but became an immature little child when contacting his father.
This was mortifying!
“Father, you’ll understand that I’m not the naive child of your memories when I become a seventh or even eighth rank!” Void breathed out.
“Perhaps!” chuckled the Light master. Is that so? Will you become my father even if you reach ninth rank?
What a joke!
What are you, if not my child? My ancestor?
Void took a deep breath, clearly hearing his father’s unspoken words. “That’s all then,” he clenched his jaw. “Be careful of the New Martial Human King. He might not attack you, but he needs qi of extreme yang! That is all...”
He was going to hang up. This conversation with his old man had been a little too humiliating.
The Light master didn’t say anything, simply reminding when Void was about to disconnect, “Come back soon. You’ve tempered yourself this way and that all these years, but have yet to reach eighth rank.
“You might as well come back sooner and try to take over Light. Even though it’ll be a long time before I die, it’s better than roaming around outside.”
“I understand!” Void had had enough of this chat and quickly hung up. He looked at Li Hao with embarrassment. “My father...”
“It’s fine! Children are children no matter how old we are! Parents always think that their child is yet to grow up...” Li Hao laughed with a poignant tone. “I used to be irritated that my parents would still treat me like a child even though I’d grown up. It was really so annoying!”
And then... he no longer had a chance to be annoyed.
The master of Light had seemed very much like a father just now. He was a bit different from the reputed heartlessness of powerhouses.
“There are some storybooks on Silver Moon that speak of past events,” Li Hao grinned. “Under most circumstances, Light major world is the villain and they’re completely heartless. But now I see... that your father seems pretty good.”
Void smiled, then sighed. “Whether it’s stories or myths, they all have their basis in truth. They weren’t created out of nothing. In many people’s eyes, whether it’s Light, Darkness, Red Moon, or Skycloud, all of these major worlds have blood and sin on their hands for making it to their current heights. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
“What you see might not be true. Based on what I know, many minor worlds also have tales of the wickedness of the master of Light. It’s all the same—the Human King is good in your eyes, but some masters of minor worlds fear him. He’ll probably be infamous after he passes on as well.”
Li Hao blinked, then nodded. That was true.
“So it’s settled, then?” he smiled, changing the topic.
“Yes.” Void pivoted as well. “I’ve handled my father, can you handle the Human King?”
The Human King wasn’t that easy to talk to.
“Don’t worry, I just need to exchange one sentence with him. There won’t be any problem once he shows himself!” Having traveled to New Martial before, Li Hao was familiar with the Human King. There wouldn’t be an issue there. All he needed to say was, “I’m going to help your teacher Changsheng with an opportunity for seventh rank.”
That was all that was needed.
The Human King was a very loyal person. He wouldn’t have any opinions about relinquishing Skyward’s dao universe to help the Sword Sovereign set foot into seventh rank. Such was the Human King!
Therefore, there was no need to communicate anything ahead of time. All Li Hao needed to do was to identify himself. The Human King would know how to choose then.
“Then that’s everything. It’s just... there’s too many seventh ranks around right now...”
“It doesn’t matter, they’re not the main battle force. They’ll just follow the action and won’t do anything if the timing isn’t right! It’s best if we can send all of them into the dao universe once the Red Moon master arrives. Or we should make sure they start fighting each other even if we can’t. It’ll make it more convenient for us!” Li Hao quickly ran through his next steps.
They were nearing the end of the plan. He’d paid an enormous price, used several months to plan, given up a lot of profit, and even brought out the Skyward dao universe as a lure...
He’d basically used everything he could. If the plan still failed, then the heavens were not on his side. The young man would think it a loss if they didn’t walk away with at least three billion dao crystals from Red Moon!
They’d killed so many exalted emperors—a handful of sixth rank alone—given up Orchid Forest when it’d been in their hands, even aided the Orchid Forest master’s ascension, and utilized so many requests for dao chess...
I’d be losing so much if I don’t get at least three billion dao crystals worth out of this!
That was the equivalent of thirty mid worlds or three hundred minor worlds. With that in mind, they could only take the gamble that Red Moon had saved a lot of dao crystals within its dao universe and world!
After all, Red Moon had destroyed many worlds, even major worlds! They were an invasive world, not one that sought peace.
